I never hated a pak batsman more than hafeez today, every run scored by him feels like nail in heart.

This is to funny. He selected the team he set the order, but he was shocked that hafeez, shehzad, Azam played the way they did. Hehe

You don't necessarily need power hitters as long as the middle and the top order play at a decent strike rate. At the bottom you just need players who can accelerate the scoring by playing at a strike rate of above 100. Sarfraz and Malik have that ability and if the upper order played decently then there would be less pressure on the bottom order as well.

Really need to get rid of Hafeez to begin with. Babar has to play at 3 and honestly, anyone who can't score consistently at a strike rate of 85 or above needs to go.

This innings will hurt pakistan for a long long long time, especially it means professor stays at 3

You clearly blamed Sarfraz for picking this team and batting order. So lets hear your thoughts on what an appropriate batting lineup would be, given the squad selected.
 
Hafeez will milk this fifty for the next two years.

He completely killed the momentum. If we don't get to at least 300-320 it is entirely his fault.
 
M Hafeez playing fast only so he could reach his hundred before 50 overs are completed.

I would have played fakhar Zaman, high in the order and would have tried to fit asif zakir. We know what we get with perennial match losers like hafeez etc.

No chance of 300 now unless shadab shows that he can hit well. And yes it is hafeez's fault.

Nah that's the straw man you keep kicking in some dark alleyway of your imagination. The rest of us were just interested in whether Sarfraz would be a better captain.

Yeah and that's due to Hafeez blocking out most of the deliveries to get to his selfish 50. We should have been playing at a run rate of at least 5.5 up until 35th-38th over and then try to hit to get it up to 6 or above. Now, 300 seems almost impossible because of those middle overs.

What's worse is that the management probably thinks it a good innings and he will continue to play and at number 3 for the next two three series

Sarfaraz captains 100 times better than azhar in the field. Its the team selection and batting order which is pathetic and yes he should be held responsible for it.
 
This is how players get selected in domestic cricket. Hafeez might be striking at 80 now but he killed team momentum t get here
 
I sincerely hope that WI chase whatever pathetic target we put up so that the management realizes how utterly pathetic was Hafeez's innings.
 
Malik's another problem in this team, looks all at sea against decent pace bowling.

You are mistaken if you think a captain in his first series has complete say over the batting order, especially when it comes to the position of the most senior person in the squad.

Admittedly it was a poor decision but not one to pin on Sarfaraz.

I agree with the inclusion of Fakhar over Hafeez. I don't think this would guarantee a change in our batting mentality though. The problem has been too many dot balls, and Fakhar will take time to settle in as its his first series. Sarfraz is one of the only batsmen in the team that places an emphasis on strike rotation, so I can't blame him for another failure by our batsmen in this regard.

Well then change captain if he is not responsible for anything , why not make hafeez the captain if he is making decisions for sarfraz? Who needs a dummy captain anyway.

lets not let sarfraz get away with this. I am thirlled he is captain, but if he is to get credit for dropping professor after the first t20, he deserves blame for picking him today.

If in the next odi Professor is batting at 3 again, then sarfraz deserves the abuse along with mickey

Malik's reprieve has saved sarfaraz's limited hitting ability from being exposed
 
85 in last 10 should take it to 300 as 7 wickets are there, but this is risky approach.

His captaincy results in t20s to start with.
His captaincy record in domestics and u19 team where he won a world cup. He is immensely experienced as a captain.
Not to mention the energy he brings in the field. Players look motivated under him. He is tactically much better and u can simply look at his field placements or bowling changes to see that.
