What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 1st ODI | Guyana | April 7th, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

You know the bowlers must be horrible if Akmal and Shehzad are feasting on them

What I find most amusing is the need to try hafeez is every format of the game before dropping him. Not good enough in tests is dropped. Not good enough in t20's is dropped. We know in odis he is coming off four successive failures and one lucky half century, so that's apparently good form.

Hafeez is golden boy.

Mamoon Asif Zakir should have been picked.

Should not have been in the squad in the first place. A an official 33 year old who has played his entire cricket in Pakistan is bound to fail in international cricket.

Why are they feeding our openers with a part time spinner in powerplay?

Arthur needs to remind Shehzad about his extremely high dot ball percentage. A good SR riding on a high number of boundaries is not good batting, and he needs to be told that.
We have to question the standard of our domestic system too. Ahmed Shehzad averaged 93 at a SR of 99 in the Departmental One Day Cup.

But we know any half-decent international captain knows where Shehzad's main scoring zones are and how to plug them.

Yet our domestic captains and bowlers make him look like the second coming of Sehwag.

The £1 twelve Cheese Mozzarella sticks from Tesco are amazing but don't follow the instructions and leave it in the over for 10 minutes if you like them crispy like me then make it 15-20 mins

That table includes recent Sharjeel blitzs & his 153 against Ireland 😫

Jason Holder is a poor captain tactically.

The best captain in the West Indies is the one who led them to two World Cups but alas, the WICB sacked him in a 30 second phone call as he stood up to them.

Looked eye catching player with solid List A.

Age is an unfortunate thing.

Shehzad has played 33 balls in powerplay. Can anyone here tell me how many dot balls has he played?

That was a bit random

This WI team is not much better than that, and his SR is looking decent in spite of the high number of dot balls. Against a top 5 team, he will not be able to strike above 70 with this approach. Perhaps we need to add some innovation. Have training drills where batsmen have to maintain a SR of 80+ while not scoring more than 2 boundaries per every 20 deliveries faced.

Commies are spot on the poor run rate in the first 10 vindicate our positions in the table but having said that am enjoying this relegation derby between Pak/WI much like a game between Swansea and Hull City

Few more series between these two teams in this era might prove to be the death of cricket.

Holder is as bad a captain as Azhar Ali I guess....

He's bowling a part timer from the PP overs up until now and the bloke is going for almost 7.5 an over :)) :))

We will be playing teams like zimbabwe , srilanka and westindies. Frankly we only can win against these teams in odis consistently.

Jason Holder is now member of one of my illustriours groups - Waquar, MoYo, Mathews, Afridi, Azhar & Mushfiq - can any one tell which fmous group is that?

You just told in your post it's Your illustrious group.....Please enlighten us brother

Akmal is only a short term fix , may be six months. Pakistan need to find openers as soon as possible.

72 in 12 and ppers crying??? Supporting west indies or Pakistan??

One must always look at the bigger picture in every facet of life. This has been a very poor display of batting but the mediocrity of WI - in particular Holder's captaincy - has not allowed us to get exposed here.

Yes. Mediocrity awaits us in all three formats.

T20 i dont really care about but you are right about tests as well. Without good fast bowlers test cricket is not worth watching and with our current lot and no good fast bowlers in the domestic pakistan test cricket is going to be stale.

Our former coach Richard Pybus has done immeasurable damage to West Indian cricket.

He was the one who as Director of Cricket introduced the ridiculous policy that if you don't play the domestic 50 over tournament (which pays a pittance), you are ineligible for ODI selection.

Obviously the likes of Narine and others, who've already paid their dues to West Indies cricket, are going to choose the IPL over the Nagico50.

Hence why we seeing a moth eaten West Indian team. Not sure why Marlon Samuels was dropped either given he averages 45 in the last two years in ODIs.

I know I am being harsh but nothing about this partnership gives me confidence for the Champions Trophy

What's more astonishing is that India are ranked as low as they are. I always thought that the Indian batsmen aim for blistering starts.

They rank high up in the charts for moral victories though...... That's all that really matters bro :D

The problem for WI is spinners like Ashley Nurse look like the lovechild of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralidaran in domestic competition where the pitches are so spin-friendly, but are ordinary at international level against better players of spin.

If the pitches were more balanced, you can sort out the quality spinners from those just lucking out thanks to the conditions.

Why? They are playing as it comes. 83/0 in 14 is outstanding in any standard - almost unthinkable in PAK standard, that too without SK. A little bit fluency at the start by ahmed, it could have been 100/0
