What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Providence | April 9, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

Strike rates of 33, 77, 73, 64, 53, 100 & 42

That is very sorry reading - specially when the captain claims that the team is trying to score 320!!

Either the captain completely mis-read the pitch and there is more to this pitch than we can see on our screens - or....

...well...

...what can we say?

Maybe this wicket is more difficult to bat than it seems. I hope so because these two are making it look like a minefield.

I don't follow much Pak cricket but this is frustrating even for me. Bloody hell rotate the strike - what's with the dot balls

Bilal7 will tell you that it is not Babar's job to accelerate and slog.

the pitch will offer more spin for the spinners and they play imad who cant spin... Only pak think tank can think completely outside the box...

I predict that somewhere around before the next World Cup, we will see a thread called 'Babar is not an ODI player' while he will be sitting pretty on 10 ODI hundreds at an average of 50 and aggregate SR of 87.

Would do well to get 260+

Cant complain with way this side is playing, these guys are either accumulators or block, block, block, hit, either way at a run rate of 6po at best.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

How good or bad Barbar's innings is will depend upon how Windies bat..

I'd tell everyone to hold your horses

WI made a massive miscalculation keeping 4 overs from young Joseph.

I strongly believe with proper coaching and more investment, the Windies can still be a top 3 team. They have the most natural talent out of all the countries. Insane genetics where even the plodders can hit 6s @ will while their bowlers can also bowl 145+ frequently. Even tho they have a semi lack of interest compared to how they used to be, if they had even Bangladesh' system, they'd be a top team.

Kemar Roach was one of my favourite bowlers. Very fine bowler.

Not sure about this wicket

It is slow, but when one looks at the bigger picture, wicket doesn't matter for our approach. We will bat the same way in the CT and will be 50-70 runs short every time.

some unnecessary criticism on Babar. You know the conditions arent easy when the next highest score is 30.

wickets falling on other ends and fear of losing the odi series didnt help either.

Though agree he needs to show more intent and work on his game against spin.

I wouldn't say that. I think he will be like Kane Williamson, glimpses of dynamic play but mostly frustrating plodding at a very consistent rate.

They have the batting power to excel in this era. In the last two weeks, two different batsmen have scored 50 ball 90's. If one batsman - let alone two - does that in Pakistan, a 3 day national holiday will be declared.

Just look at the pace of this pitch...Imad hit the same shots against Starc and Hazlewood over 80 m boundaries. Over here he can't even clear inner circle.
:viv

I only see us beating Sri Lanka in the CT and even that's not a given - at least they have some dynamic batsmen, we have none. Kusal Mendis would walk into our team.

Yes, but I do think someone will eventually question his place in the team as Pakistan continues to lose matches against the big teams while Babar continues to achieve personal milestones.

Not really because you could go hard and end up with a sub par score on a tricky wicket.

Anyway, time will tell

Babar needs to stop giving strike to Imad. Play rest of the overs by yourself.

This latest all-rounder syndrome will cost Mickey his job. Absolutely no reason to play Imad in ODI & Nawaz in Test just for the sake of it. I don't think WI has the batting to chase 240 against 20 overs of Asghar & Shadab here.
