Big responsibility on the shoulders of Rizwan and Faheem to see Pakistan through the first session; Then with Fawad Alam still to bat, Pakistan could well achieve the 300-350 total that Babar Azam mentioned.

Pakistan need to make most of this good position, 1st hour will be crucial, Need to bat till tea at least and reach close to 400.

Longer this inning last more tiring the WI bowler will get and it will be easier to score against part time spinner so run rate can be increased later, Just need to bat long.

After being away from the match, he would need to get set and repeat his cycle all over again, especially if wickets fall early on.

Rizwan will be the key, Faheem has a habit of prodding the new ball but he needs to stay there for the rest of the day.

The best case scenario, if Pakistan can truly exert their dominance, will be if Rizwan and Faheem outlast the new ball and take us close to 350 without losing a wicket, opening up opportunities to perhaps bat the whole day and post a mammoth total.

Surely Pak needs to get atleast over 300 from here, anything below would mean other poor collapse.

With Nauman in the team the tail should be able to provide better support, even though Abbas and Afridi are hopeless. Unless a collapse happens anytime I am hopeful Pak will be able ro eek out total above 300.

What we normally see in a new day is that we lose some quick wickets. Hope it doesn't happen today.

Despite carrying 3 or 4 passengers of our own, we need to finally put this pub team in its place and rack up a big total and then blow them away with the bowling.

It's raining in Sabina Park. Covers are on. Expected delay in start of day two's play.

So Fawad is fit enough to resume his innings?

Hope the rain spices up the pitch. Pakisyan already has a decent total on the board and will add more, need more assistance for the bowlers as Pakistan want a result in their favour.

With rain interrupting play, the conditions have to be more bowler friendly to induce a result..

Cricket definitely one of the worst outdoor sports out there when it comes to the weather.

Itne zayada chances agar Ahmed Shahzad aur Shan Masood ko milte to woh aaj solid opening pair hote test format mein.

Can't play in the heat cos you get all cramped up and tired, and can't play due to a bit of drizzle.

I'm assuming the first session will get washed out, then we will have 2 extended sessions with a lunch break in between. What a damp squib!

Awesome! :))

So the rain stopped half hour ago but umpires will reassess the situation after 45 minutes. Things like this makes you really hate cricket.

Looks like Pakistan will most likely lose this series to WI 1-0

Embarrassing would be a understatement!

Its not easy to win over there but that was a hurtfull defeat no doubt when your top 3 are non existent then what hope can one have

Test cricket should be dumped not because it is slow or boring but because rules like these and the stupid rain. Just don't think anyone can waste so much time.

Update:

Outfield is still wet.
Next inspection at 1:20 pm (local time)

If we get started at some point today, I think there's still plenty of time to push for victory. Don't lose the faith yet guys!

What about other forms of cricket, they can be affected by rain with worst conclusion the entire match gets abandoned.

Next 3 days have good weather forecasted.

If we can get around 50-60 overs today, get early starts for next 3 days, we can possibly get in a max if 330-340 more overs. That's still a good amount of time.

Raining again - covers are on

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 55.000%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/ppwk5o" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

Rain has been stopped and covers are being removed again

Hopefully, there could be play today but we have to wait for the umpires word on that

Updates coming thick and fast....

Early Tea taken from 2:30pm (local) - the next inspection is at 2:50pm (local)

Reminder that no play has been possible on Day 2 of the 2nd Test due to persistent rain

Can't the umpires go and inspect straight after the rain has stopped? Why the hell do they need to waste any more time delaying the inspection? Cricket is such a stupid sport.

They need to give some time for the rain water to drain from the parts of the ground that was not covered..

Looking at the weather report it looks like we are in for clear days for the rest of the match. InshAllah there is still lots of time to bring about a result in favour of Pak.

Pakistan should look to bat once. Build on this innings and try and get 400.

InshAllah lots of time left, can’t blame the weather it’s part of the sport and weather always makes things a little interesting. Hopefully we get an hour of play today at least.

Ideal strategy will now be to push for that 400 mark so that we may only need to bat once or chase a very small target.

If it wasn't for a mediocre top order, this would have been very doable.

Update:

Day two called off due to a wet outfield.
Play will start at 9:30 am (local time) for the next three days.

Half an early early start for next 3 days. 98 bowlers for next 3 days from what I see on Cricinfo. So possible 294 overs of play, with clear forecasts next 3 days. Let's hope we can squeeze a result.

3 days is plenty, we can still get an innings win result if we bat our socks off tomorrow and bat WI out of it.

Still plenty of time for a result with the longer days.

Sorry but embarrassing for who? I'd have had the West Indies as favorites going into this series. They're not playing strong Test sides like India, NZ or Australia, they're playing Pakistan.

You could argue the biggest embarrassment would be for the West Indies to lose a Test series at home to Pakistan.

Both an arrogant and unrealistic comment from you.

I don't know where are pakistan fans seeing weather forecast to say weather is clear for rest of days but weather is not looking good at all
Here is 22 August weather report of met office

Honestly test cricket is one format that takes a big hit when there is rain.

If it rains in the morning they should call off the match. Rains are always unfair to the teams who havent done most of their batting .
Time to scrap the test match as it wastes time of spectators, and is unfair.
Instead I propose they should play a different format which challenges the teams fairly ( like a mix of t20 & test - two innings of 20 overs each, lololol )

But on a serious note, just waste time playing for no result, its not the fifties where the spectators time has no value.
