(this is for Random Aussie) I want that BUMP catcher to fail miserably :p

Who? Clarke or Symonds? I forget which it was....or was it both?

I'll let RA answer this :p

He means Clarke the bumpcatcher in this instance.

Symonds is monkey boy, or maan kii boy or cheat for not walking etc....and sometime bump catcher.

I see these players (OZ line up) as the best when it comes to playing spinners:

- Haydos
- Katich
- Clarke
- Hussey

I have seen Jaques play spin but that was only 2-3 matches. Symonds too is not bad vs spinners but he surely is susceptible against the spinners than pace battery.

If I were to bet on a certain player that will be huge hit on India's tour, I'd put my wager on Clarke. This bloke has the BEST batting stance and uses his feet perfectly well vs spinner.

Jacques is not bad against spin but considering he is an opener he is usually well set by the time the spinners bowl to him (if he is still in ;-) )

Clarke is the best player of spin we have, he has excellent footwork and soft hands. Starting to mature now as a batsman and come into his prime.

I'm putting my money (figuratively speaking ofc!) on Stuart Clark performing well in India. Given how well McGrath bowled in the subcontinent and how well Clark has done filling his shoes, I reckon he'll be great over there. I can't see Johnson doing well though tbh, I reckon he'll struggle.

Batting wise, Haydos and Ponting are safe bets, but I back Hussey over Clarke. Just think that the latter is overrated somewhat, and the former is underrated.

Johnson struggles full stop. Although did manage to get some swing on the last Indian tour - but that was with the white ball.
McGrath was a much better bowler than Clark although I woudl back Clarke to do well against anyone anywhere because that's what he has done to date.
The batting is not as strong as it was but it is still not so easy to get 20 Aussie wickets in a game.

And from now I shall refer to SRT as "The Ball Cleaner", Dravid as "The Ball Tamperer" :D

And would you care to call Ganguly "bumpcatcher" too? :batman: Or maybe that was an "honest" mistake.

Dont forget Dhoni, he likes to appeal like a baboon when he takes a bump catch, just ask Pietersen.

South Africa? I reckon they have at least as good a chance of beating Aus as India if not better. Steyn is probably the best bowler in the world now, along with the dependable Ntini, the promising Morkel, a strong batting line up and extremely high standards in the field, they look good.

India, in my opinion, rely too much on Kumble/Bhajji to pick up wickets. Though they do have a strong batting line up which may make up for the failings of their seam attack.

After the SA series you can bet that there won't be even a hint of green in any of the four Tests, so it will probably come down to how well the Aussie batting line up fares against spin.

Have you seen the way Hayden and Co took Akhtar to the cleaners etc ?? What chance do you think an occasional medium fast bowler like Steyn would have ? I can see Haydos standing 10 feet outside the crease and putting his big foot on Steyn's a***.... Sorry Saffies have always been pretenders, they have never shown up against AUS and I dont think they will this time either.. Lets hope they prove me wrong..

Akhtar owned Hayden; I'm not sure what you're on about.

And Hayden faced upto Steyn in the IPL and was rooted to his crease wafting a couple of times failing to make contact with the ball. I'm not sure where your irrational hate for Steyn comes from...maybe it's because of the fact that he averages 19 against you guys. :))

Yeah he avgs 19 with a whooping list of tail ender wickets to his name against us :)) .. Last time I checked if a batsmen with no technique like Dhoni can take him out for the ride of his life I see it as no problem for Hayden and co to take Steyn to the cleaners.... :D

The last time we toured Australia Akhtar derstroyed Hayden. He doubled him in the first test, got him out in the first innings of the second test and had him in the 2nd innings of the 2nd test as well but Yasir Hameed dropped a sitter, as I recall.

So is it safe to say akhtar got him a whopping 3-4 times max out of 6 odd test ?

No we only played 3 tests on that tour and he got him 3 times

India is the only team who can beat Aus provided the umpiring is fair, otherwise I dont see anyone else who can do it at the moment...

man like you did not see the umpiring against us :pissed: an 8th ranked team?

if the umpiring was fair in this series do u think that the aussis would have won? :pissed:

Thats not owning Hayden, I wouldnt even say Harbhajan has Ponting by the balls and he has dismissed him 8 times. Owning a batsmen would be along the lines of how Mcgrath is with Lara well over 10 times etc..

I meant out of all the tests Shoib played against Hayden he has him a total of 3-4 times ?

I don't know about stats but it was quite clear that Akhtar had the wood on the majority of the Australian batsman bar Martyn. However, Hayden especially had some real difficulties against him, with the around the wicket angle that Akhtar was creating. I clearly remember Hayden being beaten a majority of times before being dismissed, again and again.

Lol I got a PM from Merc telling me off about my "new" sig. :ijaz

I read the Katich sig. Did you lose a bet too?

I certainly did not! I said that if Krapich was man of the series I would run around Boston naked for a day. Obviously Chanders saved me (and spectators) from that humiliation...

Does that still stand for the next series?
