Just came a question in my mind, let us know what was the bravest thing you've
done in your life...it can be a very small gesture but 'bravest thing done by you in your life'.

Once I drove at 110 in a 100 zone. Yeah, I like living on the edge..

took 2 big roller coasters this week which i normally wouldn't dare to go close to.. feels damn good to be free

When I was 9, I took on a group of 7 bullies who used bad words against my family. As expected, it was purely one-sided, I took a bad beating, but I did feel brave at the end of it.

What a wuss, 51kph in 40kph zone for me, 1 more kph than you. It was a late Sunday evening, no cars were on the streets, there were no kids crossing the street cause Home Alone was going on TV so I decided that day was going to be THE DAY.

when I drove a car, the very first time, a young boy came in front of me and instead of applying the breaks, I turned the car leftwards and bumped it.

Why would you even want to live in a ghetto such as Brampton? The whole city is a horrible mess.

Brampton is ghetto ? It didn't feel like it.
Scarborough you can tell it's straight up ghetto.

Scarborough is still much more exciting than Brampton. Brampton is what I'd call a proper ethnic ghetto though, way too many Indians. Although a large number of black people are moving in.

Never going to talkies for watching movies till yet! (also won't drink nor commit suicide 200% sure. though did smokes cigarettes occasionally something like 5 sticks per year, thinks didn't smoke this year btw)

Also reducing bad words. I was a bad mother when I used to go school, now I very rarely use those bad words when I bit matured.. (while writing in english maybe use some cr@p words mostly WTH type of)

That's good. Winning the fight isn't important, as much as it is standing for your values.

I remember a fight broke out between me and a kid who cut in front of me in line back when I was in 3rd grade and this guy was in 5th. Huge kid, was African so had the good physical genes, and was in Taekwondo. I charged at him and he threw me aside, and my shoe came off. I was shocked and became angrier, charged again, got thrown again, other shoe came off. Threw the shoe at him but it hit some other kid. I thought if I was gonna win it had to be from long range, can't win short range. But then the teacher intervened.

Got headmaster of my school suspended

Watched conjuring 2 in theatre all alone.

Though my personal bravest would be, going under the knife three times before i turned 15. My mom and sisters were by me every time and that helped immensely.

Have thrashed people, but I was the bully and they were being brave for facing me. So no bravery awards for me.

Nothing much because I never tried to complicate stuff or try and be a super hero. However there have been few such horrible incidents where It was necessary for me to act like that apart from that I'm a simple person.

Hopped onto the neighbor's roof to fetch my ball which was lying next to their sleeping dog which was one aggressive dog. It didn't wake up, thankfully. Would have ripped me apart.

Multi layered bravery

Thanks for the laughs man. :)))

Compared to all the brave heroes in this thread, I have actually done some boringly lame things:

1- Ran after a wanna be thief, in Brooklyn, with freezing temperatures outside and I had no shoes on, luckily cops were around the corner by the time I almost caught him and they saw me running and stopped him. Only to see himn being let go because cops said he will be released later anyway since all he had done was steal some shoes from our 4 room hall

2- Saw a car jump a curb, miss my car by inches (I was in passing left lane) and hit the car in the other lane (right lane) almost head on. I was about to pass that car and was gonna be seriously hurt if I had done so but something stopped me right before the accident, this from a guy who regularly does 10-15 MPH over most speed limits. Saw the offending car's door open, beer bottles came slidding down (all empty) and a young mexican guy ran out. I ran after him in rage (because I was mad why he did all this and then ran away) and caught him with help from another passerby

3- Once went to sleep (involuntarilly off course) and rolled the car over 3 times (in the deep and wide median on a 2 lane highway in Nebraska). Car was totalled while me and my friend (who was not wearing a seatbelt and sleeping with seat resting backwards on passenger's side) walked away with barely any scratches. Off course this was not exactly a brave thing but really some experience though

4- When I was 18, got in the middle of a fight between two gangs (we were at the house of a gang leader who had beaten up one of the other gang's member a few hours ago)...somehow mr brother (2 years older), a friend of ours, and I ended up in the middle of 8-10 guys armed with baseball bats, heavy silver chains, hockeys and what not. I saw my brother get hit with a hockey stick, I went to save him, got hit with the chain twice (saw stars literally), still got up and punched a guy a few times who was coming at me with a baseball bat (thankfully he missed). Funny thing was when the fight ended, only we 3 got beat up while that gang leader from the house was standing behind a few of his servants. We were called wusses later because our little nephew went home (he was with us for some reason) and told on us. Next few weeks we spent at an aunt's house and away from Lahore

There are a few more experiences like that (but minor in nature) and oh how about all the cyber beatings I have given to those 'Other' guys :-P

A question that cannot be answered.

What is bravery and what is danger? How do you quantify it?

What is bravery to you may not be bravery for someone else.

Lived in Karachi for 24 years as a minority without hiding it.

Went Upto hundreds of edl supporters alone at a rally wearing a soldier of Allah t shirt afte being derided by the police earlier on in the day and being 'warned' about the March
Stayed around after being hit and punched in front of the police before being forced on by the police
Stood my ground later on in the day when being caught alone by a group of them

Recently ran after a house burgler and stood my ground when he pulled out a gun at me

Put a knife to my dads throat after he cussed me out

Went to a concert at the British museum on a weekend I wouldn't get leave for even though I knew the consequences

Used to wear earrings when I was younger when I prayed at mosques

Breaking a fight recently between a Somali girl gang and boy gang at Trafford centre on eid

What minority?

Also if there is one city in Pakistan where being a minority isn't an issue then it's Karahi

Lot of Hindus and Christian community live here.

If you were a Christian or Ahmedi in Punjab then maybe you had a point

I wish you can assure this to my uncle who was shot dead outside our house and to my relative who was a Dr and shot dead inside his clinic after few people enter and asked everyone who is Muslim to leave :).

I really hope so that you were right but unfortunately you are not.

hmm sorry to hear.

so im assuming you are a non muslim minority?

generally karachi is considered safer than most punjab and baloch cities for minorities so one can only imagine how tough it was there

I am Ahmadi and I consider myself Muslim. No it is not really safe yes may be it is not as dangerous as some rural town in Punjab or Baluchistan you are right, but you never know when things get out of control it only needs one person screaming something and whole bunch of people suddenly turn against you.

I have faces such cases even during a friendly cricket game when a run out dispute turn into a ugly scene because one person from opposing team dont like you due to your religious beliefs. Well anyways I wrote above post as a joke it is not brave, but something that many cant escape and I hope no one is forced to live with such bravery Ahmadies or others.

Sorry to hear that bro :( There are some religious goons in shape of some sort of Molvis/Muftis

But i hope bro you do know that all are not the same :(

Why didn't you run back?

What if he had shot you?

That is some serious trust you had in British burglars..

If they pull a gun I would think it's better to just stay because they might Not shoot.

If you run its almost certain a shot will be fired

Though I have no idea lol

I know it's like when people ask someone to not run when he sees a lion or a tiger in the movies (although it's not like it's gonna increase his chances of survival lol).

Still the human instinct will be to turn back and burn your heels rather than to stare the lion or tiger or a burgler with a gun eye to eye.

This is not bravery at all, this is insanity.

I have been in a short fire fight in Karachi. Engaged them when they tried to mug me. Too bad I didn't get them.

I said no to drugs and stayed away from it for most of my childhood even though most of my friends were doing it and the peer pressure was immense. I felt left out and lonely most of my childhood but now I look back, I'm glad I did what I did.

ofcourse I would be super ignorant if I think all are the same, but for me those who remain quite and don't condemn such acts are same as those who approve this.

Giving a few pennies to the poor in this month of Ramadan can be the bravest thing you've ever done, So go for it!

I was involved in a car accident with my cousin driving. The person who hit us was abusing my cousin and getting physical even though it was his fault. The person was huge, so tall and muscular. I looked tiny in front of him, and I'm 5 foot 10 inches

Despite him committing a mistake, he was shouting at us for no reason. In the heat of the moment, I didn't back away and slapped him as hard as I could, he was least effected by it. He did beat me quite hard at the end. :))

Sad you even have to say that. I'm sorry for what the nation has done to you and your family - a damage that can never be repaired. Mohammad Ali Jinnah said that in HIS Pakistan, anyone identifying as Muslim was Muslim and no one had the right to question him/her under any circumstances, we have surely failed him.

When I use to battle on the underground scene, I was always afraid but relied mostly on bravery to get me through and I desperately needed the money. Besides that I'd say picking fights people like me are not supposed to win, I've failed more then I've succeeded but always believe in the philosophy "you'll never known your limit if you don't push yourself to the max" I will always fall but will never give up and that has been my motto which helps me survive and at times upset the odds, god willing am able to get to a position where life is a lot more stable for me and my loved ones.

Wow, I didnt know dhump was ahmadi; my views are mostly influenced by sufism even though am not that religious well I use to be but don't know what's up at the moment but I love dhump even more. He's a terrific poster and a guy who's very peaceful, I never see him attempt to shove his beliefs down the throats of others, cause in-fighting amongst varying sects in order to claim supremacy and point score after every tragedy whilst demonising certain groups; he's a good example that not every ahmadi is the same so we mustn't get rubbed the wrong way by the ones who are hostile towards us

Good post Shazzy. But just to add to your post, most Ahmadi's I've met are very patriotic people aim to work towards the betterment of Pakistan. Unfortunately, the nation has not been kind enough to them. Dr. Abdus Salam himself is possibly the biggest and greatest name to come out of Pakistan, an Ahmadi - who we have not done justice.

I don't know. I've been a common man, Never really tried to do any outrageous thing.

But going by thread once took on a class fatty when my physique was not even Mohammad Amiresque.

He's highly respected in the UK, the physics department in my uni have a quote from him framed. It's a shame when he was not classified as a muslim, am not an ahmadi but we're in no position to define the beliefs of others.

Leave our brilliant career back home & for Canada.

There are many Ahmadis on this forum still. Since you are not aware of the Ahmadiyya beliefs so you cannot identify them unless they declare it thenselves openly. You only know what you have been fed by Maulana's. Even in past there were quite a few Ahmadi's. Old threads could be digged.

What do you mean by Not every ahmadi is the same ? Have you been harmed by any Ahmadi in Pakistan or UK ? Or has any ahmadi done a fraud with you (financial)

O Dhump. So you are part of that great family. Great to know.

Since I may have to leave due to security reasons so it's better to disclose.

I am nephew of the Shaheed Bureaucrat who was Matyred by Lashar e Jhangvi planted man.

I take pride that as a 11 years old I gave my Shoulder to my Martyred Uncle.

If I am not wrong was your Uncle Ameer Jamaat or Saddar of the City ?

I did a blunder, won't call it brave thing. As a young student I had huge love & regard for He Pbuh & Allah so I wasn't educated enough wrt Laws of Pakistan.

Out of love I did something. My teachers praised me alot but there was one guy who gathered few students and went to University's head saying we are going to Police Station to lodge an FIR.

I would have been jailed for 3 years for something a Muslim does with Pride, univ would have been in trouble too.

In his time as a student the concerned person had a Ahmadi friend who used to teach him his weak subject and massively helped him in his PostGraduate so he personally had a great time with him. He succeeded in cooling down the Extremists.

At that time I was Topper with Highest cGPA amongst all semester's students not just my own and 3 witnesses would have meant 3 years jail term.

If those fellows are reading they will again gather under local chapter of Khatm e Nabooat planning how to eradicate me. Chalo koi nai, Jo Raat Qabarr mein Aani hai aajaey.

Ye Jaan tou Aani Jaani hai.

Not really got into any fights as no one really tried to bully me so never was forced to react. Probably the bravest things I've done include going into my neighbours back garden (who have been arrested multiple times for abuse and growing marijuana) without knowing where the dog was just to get a cricket ball. It was getting dark but I was very impatient when I was younger so I went for it and no one saw me thankfully.

Either that or going into the deepest ends of the water on floats trusting my swimming abilities if it flipped. Nearly drowned but managed to escape.

On this forum a friend from UK shared gave me a hint about an article about two brothers who are playing Domestic Cricket.

I read it. They told that the entire team would share water but they weren't allowed to share because they were wrong kind of muslims or constitutional non Muslims. 50 averaging batsman hasn't played a single FC or list A match in last 4 years because............

This in a Country whose Resolution was vetted by animal Muslim and first ball in a World Cup was bowled by an Ahmadi Muslim.

Anyhow Persecution is nothing new. Prophet Pbuh companions were persecuted aswell. World Norm.

there was a very interesting article on ahmadis in pakistan and cricket on cricinfo

I took a semester off from college without telling my parents. It was kind of cowardly to be hiding that, but I actually felt quite brave about that decision.

What you mean fed by maulana etc, no need to attack other sects all the time; it gives the good ahmadis a bad name. I don't appreciate your hostility , stop trying to shove your beliefs down the throats of others; liv and let live :)
