What now for Imad Wasim?

Amir was winning member of WT20 and CT for Pak. C’mon you think selections in Pakistan happen on common sense?

I would be really shocked if Pakistan doesn’t have better spin allrounders than a close to retirement and carrying multiple injuries Imad.

To be fair, I think both Imad and Amir held up their end of the bargain in the world cup.

Imad as a bits and pieces number 7 allrounder who bowls 3-4 overs economically and contributes 5-10 runs. Somewhat like Jadeja was for India.
Amir as a supporting clever quick who can pick up the odd wicket with his variety. An older Arshdeep if I may.

Neither of them was the problem. The problem was Pakistan missing or underperforming at the kind of high level game-changers like Rohit, Bumrah, Kuldeep and Hardik who these bits and pieces guys could complement.

The ferocious debate regarding their inclusion and performance is mystifying but I suppose cricket fans need something to debate about especially when their team loses so badly.

A more interesting debate would be the exclusion of any outstanding but inconsistent talents who could've changed things totally. Like Indian fans debate about Jaiswal...only less intensely because we actually won the whole thing. If we'd lost, we'd rightly be debating that decision.
 
Imad is a guy who is not supportive when it comes to his own behavior. He is a good bowler but your attitude tells what you really want.

I hope Imad took his retirement back for the country and he plays till the end and not just hide away once again. His batting is a problem for sure. Bowling is ok.
 
What is there to gain by picking Imad? His fitness is dodgy for T20I itself so ODIs are out of question.

Next T20 WC is in 2026. Better to pick new spinner and give them long run
 
After the failure in 2024 World T20, he should be dropped for good. He is 35 years old also (official age). So, quite old now.

Imad went wicketless against Canada and India. Only did well against Ireland (3/8). Flopped with the bat against all teams.

Also, age is not on Imad's side. 35 now.

Who should retire? Ifti and Imad definitely.

Tbf bro, Imad is good as a bowler but his knee was in a terrible shape. He couldn't run against India.

Unless his knees improve, I can only see him as a no 8 and a specialist bowler. And abrar is a better bowler.

Issue with Pakistan is that they'll select crapola's like chacha or nawaz instead which is why I want imad.

Otherwise if Pakistan is willing to move on, so am I, but ik they won't.

He can still play as a batting all-rounder at the 6 or 7 position in the T20I format. His bowling is just too good.
 
Given the woeful options Imad can bat at 8. He was never a six hitter. He hits in the V predominantly. It is stupid to blame him for Pakistan's loss against India. On that NY pitch with variable pace and bounce with sand based ground last 5 overs were very difficult. Even seasoned players struggled let alone Imad wasim.

One of Rizwan or Babar along with Ifti and Shadab. Shaheen needs to be put on notice for bowling constant half volleys on a hard length pitch. None of these chums can read a pitch. Mr. Intent Fakhar was also disappointing.

Spot on.

The ball got softer and the pitch got slower so it got harder and harder to hit.

The damage was done by Rizwan with the way he batted during the powerplay and then brainlessly decided to slog Bumrah.

Also, Misbah's clone missed 3-4 full tosses. Him, Babar and Rizwan lost Pakistan this game.
 
He came back all this way for a reason and it only makes sense to give him the white ball captaincy which has always been his destiny. This might not be the right decision for Pakistan Cricket but it will help Imad end his storyline much like how The Rock had to step down to allow Cody Rhodes to finish the story.

Not gonna happen. This guy retired and then comeback to play the world cup. There is selfishness visible in this whole drama.

He performed well apart from that India game that he botched big time. Captaincy is not his destiny atm.

I bet we can make a list of batters with most calorie intake per run, or most body hair per boundaries hit, and make any batter look abysmal.

Except that he can genuinely get stuck in the middle against spin these days. This has hurt his batting and he knows he's a better bat than this

his SR against pacers is not impressive though, he is just playing shorter format due to his bowling.
 
Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Wasim during in an interview with a local sports platform:

“Imad has a knee injury, but he has been hiding it for years. We always speak about Azam Khan’s fitness levels, but Imad is also suffering from the same problem. He was dropped from the side for that same reason, and I also dropped him during my tenure so that he could work on his fitness.”

It seems he is not in PCB's plans as he has not been selected for the Australia and Zimbabwe tours.

And than after that Rizwan would end up winning the t20 player of the year and few years later become the captain of the National team.

Thats the difference, one will always stay as a karachi dolphins captain while the other will always be remebered as the captain of the national team

Does that honor also apply to CT 2017 winning captain Sarfi who you hate and want to slaughter?

Or is rizwan the only captain who will have tue honor of being remembered?

However rizwan will likely achieve bi laterals dominance and be a better captain then Babar.

But test dominance + Icc tournament victories? No chance in hell.

India will dispose of them in asia cups. Aus, eng, India or NZ will dispose of them in world cups and will deny them SF spot.

I did give an update lol.

I wrote rizzu as 2-1 and listed rizzu stats as 74Avg 75 sr this series.

Unfortunately as much as I hate to post such statistics I have to

I want Pakistan to win test series and Icc tournaments or at the very least perform well in icc tournaments which Pakistan hasnt since 2021.

Thats honestly all that matters in this era. Bcci + ICC has killed one day and t20 bi laterals

This guy has some excellent contributions when it really does matter.

His 50 odd runs against QG in that hammering defeat somehow brought the deficit down for their NRR requirement against KK.

Then the big wicket of Warner today when Warner had it under control for 204 run, which would have been enough for 2nd position.

Now thanks to him, IU have 2 bites of the cherry for the finals. Clutch player! Excellent game sense and intelligence
