They have reachedan ICC tournament's semi final for the first time ever, and this isn't the first time an under rated team has done it either.

Sri Lanka did it and won the world cup. Kenya did it and lost to India.

After that one team had success, and the other team worsened off

But after reaching the semis, what now for Bangladesh?

Which route will they take? The Kenya one or the Sri Lanka one?

Let me remind you, Bangaldesh themselves gave up yesterday. Mosharafe himself said that he only started believing after getting a 200 partnership, and the two batsmen themselves said that they were not going after the target and were just looking to play full overs.

So it was weird for me reading that.

I wonder if Bangaldesh cricket have a cricketer who is a polarizing figure for the youngsters like how Ranatunga was for Sri lanka.

Let's look at the context. At 33 for 4 you don't win too often. At that moment you just play to get in.

Btw when the partnership was 200 BD needed only 35 off from 40 balls. We were bossing the match since the 30th over. I am sure Mashrafe is just kidding or maybe he was too much in awe and believed in law of averages.

And our two batsman hardly let the RRR fluctuate. If it was most sides the RRR would have been 8/9 in the last 15 overs. Riad and Shakib took on the opposition bowler. They attacked. They didn't play any loose shot.

Congrat's Bangladesh for reaching semi-final of the tournament. !!!

Niether the Kenyan way, nor the Sri Lankan way.

just the Bangladeshi way -- more years of slow slow progress. We are still a team that is young and learning.

Also, its scary to think who will captain the team when Mash leaves. Both Shakib and Mushfiqur have been captains -- and have not been that good at it.

They will improve from here.Kenya didn't have a good cricketing structure while B'Desh has a craze for the game and a good cricketing structure.

Also there will be multiple posts from multiple posters saying we need to win something. Which is true.

But from a team that used to call their wins as 'Eid' (twice a year, and lots of fun), to a team that has now been to Asia Cup Finals, World Cup Quarter Finals and Champions Trophy Semi Finals (allllmmmmooosssttt), we will eventually win something. I had rather have a team that loses in the final stages of a tournatment than a team that does not even get to the finals. It will happen eventually, inshaAllah.

Heathrow > Doha > Dhaka is cheaper than Heathrow > Dubai/Abu Dhabi > Dhaka

This is an invalid comparison because Kenya were an associate team back then whereas Bangladesh are currently ranked 6th in the world in ODIs and has multiple series wins vs a number of teams plus test wins home and away in recent months.

This question would have been better after 2007 or 2015 world cup.

They can win the CT, as unlikely as that is, if they can get over choking at crucial points (India in T20 WC being one). They have the batsman to score big and a decent bowling attack.

I believe once you're n a knockout stage, anything can happen. Yes they can win it by any means, they have the quality to, but can they handle the pressure?

Congrats to them for making semi finals but I feel who ever they play in Semi finals Bangladesh will lose

It's nothing but the rain took them to the semi plus one match upset. Had Australia game not rained off, Australia or NewZealand would have qualified for the semis. So the way forward is to continue progressing and hope for a miracle in Semis.

no rain did not take them to semi final..

Remember one thing, Rain saved Australia from getting beaten by Nz earlier. So at the end, if you talk about equality without rain. Australia got a fair 2 points.

Had the acutal result of NZ game came forward and Bg game, the point tally would had been Australia 2 points

It would have been Aus 2 NZ 2 and Bangladesh 2 if no rain. NZ / Aus would have qualified based on runrate. so yes rain lucky.
