I gotta admit I was very excited for the 1st season of PSL but very soon started to lose passion for the matches. Watching a game was just going through the motions and looking for certain players to perform regardless of the team. The fact that I would cheer for Amir even if he is playing against my favorite team speaks volumes about the leagues inability to polarize.

However, this second season has been a revelation. The whole spot fixing saga seemed to ruin the season and the league but it was not to be.

We are seeing fan loyalty developing for their teams, which I think is a key for any league's success. Another point that really is going well for PSL is consistent character development of the teams. We see the Pakhtun Flair in Zalmi with likes of Afridi , Sammy and Wahab. Whereas we see the Janoon in Qalanders with players like B. Mac, Elliot and U- Akmal. Islamabad has its own appeal with very well established players like Haddin, Watson, Misbah playing for them. Karachi with Amir and Azam along with wealth of Experience in shape of Sanga , Mahela etc have a very distinct feel about them. This all is what makes leaugues like IPL etc hits.

One way PSL could improve in this regard is if player retention patterns remains almost similar year to year so players and teams associated with them become common knowledge. When you combine the passion for certain players with the team spirit , people would be more willing to stay up to watch the games.

The very close matches that we saw in last few days would definitely boost up the ratings of the league. Our youngsters who bottle up in international games under pressure would benefit so much from playing under intense situations and finishing games preferably.

The last point is the rivalry formation that we saw in this edition such as Karachi vs Lahore( more because both underdogs were fighting for survival both times). The we have the super stat clash of Zalmi and Gladiators. The well developed rivalries would be best boost for the league. However, making more teams in future and hence more rivalries would be beneficial.

People who watch other leagues, what made this PSL stand out if at all? And could it to do to get up there with the top dogs.

Quetta does have its own brand, especially with Sarfraz at the helm and VIV Richards cheering them on. However they still lack the touch liek Islamabad to make a brand. There is weird chemistry between Kp and Luke and Shahzad at the top. Sarfraz is a good captain but not the best at communicating with Foreign players and they are lacking the clutch performances to win crucial game to become a brand.

Hopefully it all improves for them though

Too much analysis of the psl. It's always going to have things that people don't like.

The main improvement it needs it one further team and a way to get rid of some of the ttfs.

Rest of it seems fine tbh.

The PSL should target top performers from Big bash, Caribbean, and all other leagues..rather old players...

Not many people watch the t20 leagues based outside of their own country so these names wouldn't be much of a draw. Remember at the end of the day this whole circus is solely designed to make the PCB money

1. Stop including players that are retired.
2. Stop including Pakistani players that have no future in Pakistani international T20 or ODI teams.

The point is I was not expecting PCB to pull off such a great event. I half expected them to take PTV graphics team to Dubai with blurry images like National Bank T-20 and bad commentators etc. But the broadcasting has been one of the best I have ever seen and a lot of passion too. ( The audience polling for umpire review is a new concept too)

Overall very impressed and almist surprised by the quality. Hope its consistent
