Hands up who want Kuldeep ahead of Mishra!
Me too.

Hands up who want Kuldeep ahead of Mishra!
More time on his side, more potential and looks to have the much needed knack of breaking partnerships. Count me in!
Pujara in zone is supremely most impactful test bat.
Makes you feel hopeless like Dravid and Kallis but with a small difference.
Once set, he starts scoring much faster and imposes himself better.
Still can't forget his masterful chase on a rank turner against Aus in Delhi.
Incredible knock really. Scored 82 at 90 SR chasing 158 with the ball spitting like hell.
ATG knock.
If Sachin or Lara had played that, it would have got 1000X more hype. Haha.
Also his Mumbai century against Swann and Panesar in full flow. English fans were like "this guy scored 200+* and now 100 on a rank turner....let's get the other batsmen out".
lol.
Unfortunately he ended up on losing side because a certain Kevin Pietersen played one of the greatest innings by a touring batsman against India. That match still gives me pain. I do remember! Carnage it was..
Another factor...when he picks up wickets, he can pick 3-4 in a spell.
Has been doing that in Duleep Trophy.
Yasiresque in this regard.
Baba Aparajith is one for the future. Hitting sixes effortlessly for a batsman of his physique.
Yep, even am toggling between TNPL and Duleep trophy..
He looks a much improved cricketer now. Can go real big in IPL for the next season!
Me too.
Kuldeep, Jayant Yadav and Shreyas Gopal are gonna be the guys for the future.
I'm not following the tourney but actually started watching the match only for Baba Aparajith. He has already scored a century before leaving to play for a Duleep trophy match and then came back and scored another 90 I think. Started off slowly but hit some 6 or 7 sixes in the last 3 overs. Must be said some atrocious bowling though.
His twin (Baba Indrajith) is a decent bat but not as talented as Aparajith. Aparajith is a batting all rounder but first came to the limelight with his bowling though. Can be a good all rounder in the future, still very young.
enjoying street cricketer 's form in this thread![]()
Doesn't bowl as much now, started concentrating solely on his batting after his U-19 days.
If we get back 2012-13 Pujara, our batting would be amazing.
Peak Pujara is the best player of spin in the world (alongside Younis).
jusarrived - Do you think we can ever get back the old Pujara? Do you rate him?
Another day another 100! India is lucky that Pujara is playing so positively!![]()
I rate him extremely high on Indian/SC pitches & not much overseas . I really dont agree when people say that hes out form , nothing has changed in his game if you ask me . Overall his scoring options are limited against pace/swing so can be choked quite easily and he has some flaws in his game to be a good No 3 overseas for us .
Kuldeep and Jayant - Yes definitely.
Shreyas Gopal - A big NO, he'll get smashed around in international cricket.
I see...
But how can you say nothing has changed in his game?
Compare him in 2012/13 series where he could play very good spinners on rank turners with ease. Didn't even look like getting out for most part.
Then compare him to 2015 series where he struggled against SA spinners on similar tracks. Was scratchy, feet not moving, weak against off spin, etc.
I also don't think Pujara was out of form. He was out of his depth in the last 2-3 years. Regressed if you will. If he comes back, it would be because he improved his game. Maybe the knee injury really crippled him. Dunno.
With Saha as Keeper batsman, its suicidal.
Hmm..so the squad for the NZ series stays virtually the same except for the omission of Thakur (who is impressing in Aus for Ind A and so will be in contention) and sir Binny (who just got one oppo in the T20 ending up with a dubious bowling record) and not any other changes.
Looks like India will revert to the 7 + 4 combo. Even though Rahul is in better form, I expect Dhawan to play the first test only because he is going to offer a left handed option (not that I agree with that though) and Rohit at #6. I do however believe that Manish Pandey is knocking the doors of selection and if Rohit doesnt pull up his socks (damn lucky bugger...how many chances will he get!) he will have to lose his test spot sooner rather than later.
Rahul will open.
Dhawan is pretty fast between dugout and pitch. It will help him for doing sacred duty of carrying the drinks.
Rahul deserves backing..no doubt. Let us see how the management sees this. It could also depend on the team combo the opposition is likely to make. Too many right handers also might play into the hands of the opposition if they are going to draft in SLAs and RLBs in their bowling line up (Sodhi for instance)
No kl Rahul and bhuvi?
It's that time of year again guys..
India went with 6+1+4 in the New Zealand series and the sixth batsman actually came in handy quite a lot during that series. The 4 bowlers managed to dismiss New Zealand in the series without much difficulties.
However England is a different kettle of fish. They have a really long batting line up unlike the kiwis. Almost everyone in their line up has an FC hundred.
So do you think India needs to pick Mishra as well and drop Rohit to account for the long English batting line up or go with the same line up in the previous series?
Injured, rohit injured.
I too have same opinion.Rahul, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Saha, Ashwin, Jadeja, Mishra, Ishant, Shami
I'd pick Bhuveneshwar instead of one of the spinners in the unlikely event the pitch has something in it.
Tomorrow, it is highly likely that either one of Nair or Pandya will get to make their debut in Test cricket along with the venue itself.
It has literally become a Nair v Pandya debate for the starting XI and Kumble has stressed upon the importance of both players for the team, who will you prefer tomorrow?
Pandya.
Important to blood youngsters at home. Nair is a top order bat. And If he fails here we can cover for him.
What's your starting XI?
