What's new

What was the last thing you ate?

Toasted Tuna Melt Sub with tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, onions, jalapenos, sweet onion sauce from Subway.

Thursday night had kebab roll.

Pigged out a lot recently. On friday had to get my passport sorted so went to a chicken place, had half a grilled chicken, fries, chicken wings and salad, to make it healthy.

Then went to family place in shrewsbury. On friday night had turkish kebabs and turkish rice, chicken curry, vegetables, gobi. Then went for dessert, cookie dough + ice cream, although I didn't eat too much as stuffed.

Then saturday in shrewsbury it was grandparents anniversary, gave the surprise. Had the normal breakfast, eggs, toast, rusks etc but for lunch had roti, boti kebab, nihari and then for afters halva and cake.

And on top of that, haven't been gym for 2 weeks as so busy with Uni.

I know pigs in blankets are haram, but I might become a pig in blanket soon

Texas Tornado chicken burger, hot cheese crinkle fries washed down with Amir Khan celeb shake (Aero mint chocolate sauce, whipped cream and Cadbury's flake) at Archies. :sarf

Popeyes. 6 tenders. 2 piece chicken. A biscuit and a poutine. As always with Popeyes, I feel terrible now but was worth it

That's like KFC isn't it, not sure if there are any in the UK but I may have seen one in NYC but didn't go, fried chicken in the US though tastes different to here, the coating is much harder, they may fry longer and at higher temperatures but the chicken remains soft on the inside

Popeyes Chicken is far better than KFC.

The pigging out has continued recently, but with the new year, back to my normal healthy eating.

My uni had some Algerian Society event where we were having dates but filling them with some paste, chocolate flavourings etc. Was good.

Then the week after I was in Berlin. On a university trip. Was a great holiday. Was some halal restaurants but not everywhere so sometimes, including at service stations (as we went by coach) i was limited to veggie options, cheese and tomato rolls etc.

I remember the first day, was starving, luckily found a halal shwarma place and ate a chicken shwarma wrap which was delicious.

We went to German Christmas Markets which were amazing, I couldn't try the traditional German sausage however as it wasn't halal so had to stick to basic stuff. They had some spring onion and cheese on bread which was alright. Had chocolate dipped fruit as well. Es war sehr lecker! They had lays crisps in Germany so would sometimes put those in my cheese and tomato rolls.

Breakfast in Berlin wasn't great but my expectations were low as it was very cheap and actually exceeded my expectations. Range of cereals, fruits, breads, spread eg peanut butter, jam, marmalade, fruit cake slices, yogurts, fruit cocktail, juices, eggs etc.

There was this halal fast food place called Risa which was amazing. Got half grilled chicken, fries and a wrap. Would be amazing if they get that in UK instead of crappy mcDonald's.

The most exciting non-meat thing ate would have been tuna pizzza, smoked salmon sandwich and some delicious veggie thing we got in a service station I think in Belgium.

On Christmas dinner had a roast leg of lamb, with home made roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, vegetables, gravy. Was good despite the fact we dropped the lamb on the floor.

Also from Germany I got chocolates, also from Belgium where I stopped at service station

Went to an American restaurant yesterday with my family, had a smoked chicken with onion rings. Also between us shared a peanut butter and banana milkshake.

Had a lot of dawats to go to over xmas holidays. Feasting. I think one was my cousins birthday, there was paneer, roast chicken, pizza pie, salad, coleslaw, potato dauphinoise, biryani, nihari then cakes, sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

Went to a wedding too. Starters were kebabs, chaat, tandoori chicken, main course was biryani, and the usual salaans and dessert was halva and kulfi.

Then the next day we hosted a dawaat, was pizza, kabuli pulao, chapli kebabs, chicken charga, lamb curry, palak chicken followed by cakes/ice creams for dessert. Dawaat season came to an end on NYE, there was meatball biryani, butter chicken, kebabs, salads, paneer, gobi manchurian followed by homemade cakes

You feast like a king bro 👑

We were out of meat apart from some boneless chicken, and were craving pulao. It was a disaster. Word to the wise, don’t attempt pulao with boneless chicken. Actually, don’t attempt pulao with chicken at all, boneless or otherwise.

We ended up not eating much of it and sent most of it to the neighbors, who don’t know any better. They loved it.

You can eat fried eggplant or eggplant curry. You can also boil it and make mashed eggplant.

By cooked, I meant curry.

thanks for the clarification bro.

One of my Bangladeshi friends made a fried one for me and it was superb. Great with rice

The reason I asked is I saw some Tamil/South Indians eating uncooked okra/ladies fingers.

Went to a moroccan arab restaurant. For starters, we ordered jawaneeh (chicken wings), king prawns, arayes (grilled lebanese bread with mincemeat and cheese) and warak enab bzeit (hand rolled vine leaves with rice, parsley tomatoes, mint and onions)

For main I ordered Chicken Shish Tauok with Mushroom sauce. Came with Salad and rice,

was good.

A calzone, which left me unsatisfied, as calzones have been doing for eight years now.

Eight years ago, I had a calzone with breaded eggplant, almost an Eggplant Parmesan calzone if you will, and it was magnificent. I've never been able to recreate that feeling of satiety and satisfaction, because no calzone purveyor I've come across since offers breaded eggplant as an ingredient. Ask for it and they look at me like I've uttered something sacrilegious.

The wait continues. Eight years is a long time.

Oven baked some cod. First time using an oven in my time at uni, and I'm 3rd year
