Like it or not, the Champions Trophy win will be marked as part of his legacy, as will the emergence of new talent etc

And to be fair, why not? if we can blame him for things then we can also give him credit for positives also.

How much of that was due to Sethi is moot but Khan Sahib's role in getting PCB in shape cannot be ignored.

Maybe his stubbornness in getting the PSL up and running, and then getting the final in Pakistan, to huge applause?

Disclaimer : I don't know how much he was was involved with the PSL, nor his influence [or lack thereof] over the final in Lahore.

But by default as Chairman of the PCB, he has to be given credit for the PSL and final in Lahore?

to PCB chairmen even have legacies?

no one talks much about chairman's of the past, unless something in a brought up in a extremely negative context

Correct, but seeing as though some fans didn't envisage the PSL being held, let alone the final being played in Pakistan, he surely needs to be given some credit - no matter how vocal.

During his tenure Pak has won Test Mace and ICC CT 2017. He is a lucky charm and lets hope he becomes Chairman of Pakistan's Hockey Federation after his retirement from PCB. Only he can change the fortunes of Pak's Hockey team with innovative projects eg PSL type Pak Hockey league.

I think this has more so to do with Pakistan winning the CT and then that coinciding with Shahryar Khan leaving in a few weeks time.

The harsh fact is that he is just a puppet chairman.

A nice man, a gentleman but others are pulling the strings at PCB and using him for their own benefit.

Shehryar "honour the MOU" Khan will probably go down as one of the better PCB chiefs we've had although I feel he's had a very loose and undiplomatic tongue in his second tenure.

In his first tenure, we saw resumption of ties with India and that Inzy-Woolmer-Shehryar triumvirate was very stable for a time in the mid 2000s - much needed after the late 90s and early 2000s.

He has got two coaching appointments bang on - Bob Woolmer and Mickey Arthur. Now I know he consulted Rameez Raja and Wasim Akram who also deserve credit, but the Chairman makes final decisions on appointments and those were great calls. He's appointed a Chief Selector in Inzamam-ul-Haq who though not without flaws, is leagues ahead of his predecessors Haroon Rasheed, Iqbal Qasim and Wasim Bari.

We've seen establishment of PSL with the final being held without a hitch in Lahore, and organisation of home series with Zimbabwe for first time in six years.

However domestic cricket remains a mess, with pitches, balls, umpiring and quality of competition still substandard. During a period when PCB should be financially tightening its belts with no international cricket at home, PCB's continuing largess is concerning.

Ultimately when a PCB chief is a political appointee, we must choose between the lesser of various evils, and most accept Shehryar is an upgrade on many of his predecessors.

holding PSL especially overseas is not any achievement, bangladesh, srilanka, westindies, australia etc all have their respective leagues years before PSL, so PSL had become a mere requirement for PCB

being credited for lahore final, when everyone knows that it was a flop event and largely foreign players and foreign PSL participants refused to participate and final was a low key one sided event in this way

secondly the way shahryar and PCB mishandled the sharjeel khan issue is nothing but disgrace and now PCB is badly trapped to prove them guilty

about the coach mickey arthur appointment, before CT win, majority were cursing him and calling for his resignation

pakistan slumped in both ODI and test raking due to bad selection, bad captaincy selection etc

the team was drastically changed after failure of first match in CT so much so, four new players were replaced including five debutantes

rest is just traditional, as someone above said, no improvement in domestic quality, no fundamental improvement etc

being credited for inzi selection as 'good selector', inzi brought back azhar ali after being dropped from westindies series, wanted to select umar akmal despite failing fitness test, brought back shahzad as first choice opener, dropped sohail khan who was the best bowler in PSL, the less said about wahab riaz selection the better, rumman raees was last minute call, hasan ali was selected before inzemam came, so basically only gets credit for faheem ashraf and shadab khan.

i just wanted to add, PSL was already in planning stages by zaka ashraf in last government

Purely from viewing PP in recent times: begging India for matches and giving out needless and embarrassing statements every other day.

its very easy to pressurise Qasim by senior officials and politicians then some one like inzy. who is more international figure. Qasim has some great knowledge about domestic cricketers then Inzy. Some of his words really make sense.

Lot better from what we had in Past...
Gentleman,
Atleast presenting Pakistan well internationally..

I don't mind him to work with Najam or as a puppet but both of them have done some appreciable work...

1- PSL
2- Complete revamp of the squad
-Selection committe much better
-Head Coach is awesome
-Mudasir Nazir into academy
-Seniors left respectfully
-Talented but show off were rightly handled by the coach
3- Much better media coverage of domestic as compared to past
4- Atleast giving good hard time to cheaters involved in PSL

That's a lot from them

He may give needless and foolish statements every week, but he is a lot better than those we have had in the past.Seems a nice man,and in his second tenure we hosted Zimbabwe,PSL finally started,we got the Test Mace,we won the CT.
Of course,he doesn't deserve all the credit for those/these.

Bump - Looks like his tenure is over!

Unfortunately I am going to remember him for the 'Honour the MOU' press conferences.

He's been decent barring the somewhat bizarre statements towards the end of his tenure.

I wanted to make the "Honour the MOU" comment :(

A nice guy, someone decent and honest and someone who looked out of place in the dirty world of Pakistani cricket politics.

He said too much in the media and made a fool of himself again and again, but he meant well and had the best interests of Pakistan cricket at heart.

However he was a dummy chairman with others pulling the strings and at times making him look foolish.

On the day of Judgement.

Shahryar: Almighty I want justice, "India didn't honour the MOU"

Who was chairman when we won 92?

Najem sethi will have a bigger legacy then sheryar, just like that ipl chairma did. What was his name again?
