What would be the maximum target that Pakistan can afford to chase in the 4th innings?

The Australian lead is 134 runs and they still have all 10 wickets intact. Till what cut off target would Pakistan still fancy their chances of chasing , passing which they would be happy to survive and secure a draw ?

It should be a draw or an Aussie win. Pakistani victory is unlikely now.

But, a target of 300 in 100 overs should be chasable.

Not possible Palistan handed the initiative to Aus by such feeble display still at max. They can chase 180 which ain't gonna happen because Aus will unleash tomorrow

Pakistan win is out of equation. At this point it's going to be 95% Australia win & 5% for a draw.

No way is Pakistan chasing anything on a low slow pitch.

Dreaming of Pak win are living in fools paradise only rain save Pakistan after attrition of 13 days where Aus were deserving leaders they finally got the upper hand more than this fragile batting its the inability of spinners which is a complete embarrassment never ever in subcontinent conditions Pak spinners looked so pedestrian and ordinary

250 would be a good contest for sure. Anything over 300 on 5th day and Pak will again dead bat for 90 overs like previous test.

Pakistan can't score 100 per session. So anything over 300 is out of pakistan's reach.

To be honest, if this series needs to have a winner it should be Australia. They always tried to force win and never played for stats unlike Pakistan team.

70% chance Australia wins this
29% chance of a draw
1% or less chance of Pakistan winning this.

Pakistan aint chasing over 150 batting last so unless they bowl out Aussies for less than 30 they aint winning this game.

250 is doable. We have batted two days before in Karachi as well. For that to happen, somebody is going to bowl the spell of their lifetime tomorrow.

It's difficult but not entirely impossible, if Pakistan can somehow dismiss Australia cheaply around 120-130 then maybe they will have a very small chance of chasing around 250 in the final innings.

Only chance for Pakistan is restrict Australia around 150.And back themselves to chase 280 . If they do tuk tuk for 5 session .Still this can achievable

Pakistan cannot bowl Australia out for under 150. That is because even if they get the Aussies to 50/4 or similar, there will always be someone down the order to play a counter-attacking innings and push their score beyond 200.

Pakistan bowlers will build moments of pressure, but that's about it. It will be released. Unless, either Shaheen or Hassan or Naseem play the lone warrior game like Starc and Cummins did.

Pakistan chasing for a win would go against their board's plan of having this series result be 0-0.

Unless someone comes up with the spell of a lifetime and restricts Australia to 200-220, I don't see Pakistan winning this. Best case scenario I see is that Australia bat too long leave themselves only 4.5 sessions to bowl us out and then Pakistan somehow manages another marathon draw. Even that is wishing for a miracle.

This is Australia's game to lose

It would be harder to bat in 4th inning, forget winning Pakistan are not even drawing this.

Unless aus collapse tmrw and are all out by team tmrw pakistan isnt winning this

The best they can hope for is hope aus keep on batting and pakistan tuk tuk to a draw on the final day

The pitch is becoming more and more supportive of bowling. And Australia basically have to work on only 3 or 4 wickets as the rest of Pakistani batsmen are very fragile.
We are going to need another once in a generation effort from couple of Pakistani players to save this match.

Purely academic now I think.

Match is over in 3 days hahahaha.

I think Australia will look to get 320ish and give them 4 sessions to bowl out Pakistan.

300. Anything above is probably way beyond them.

200 will be a winning total against Pakistan. Pakistan this time won't be rejuvenated like the 2nd test. This pitch has something on it for reverse swing

250 max. 250-300, They might go for it and then shut shop if wickets fall early.

But anything more than 300, Pakistan is playing for a draw

to be fair if any team can pull of a bit of magic from no where, its Pakistan. I wouldnt count them out yet.

Pakistan can't bank on chasing anything more than 200. The sensible option for tomorrow is to try and limit Aus to 3 runs an over, stretch the game out and then try and dead bat their way to another draw.

The problem this time is that they are one batsman short, Imam and Fawad look hopeless and there is a lot more for the bowlers this time compared to the last test.

Very hard to see anything other than an Aussie win. The only question is on which day.

Under normal circumstances I would fancy even 300 on home soil. But then I remembered we played 5 bowlers in this game. So barring a miracle of somehow magically getting them all out around 150 on this slow pitch, it's 80% aus win 20% draw.

It is a bit late to complain but can anyone see any reason Sajid Khan would be preferred over Faheem Ashraf...in any universe, known or unknown?

All series long they have been treating him much disdain and even in batting, he barely lasts a few balls. What is it exactly Pak was thinking sitting Faheem out and playing Sajid? I mean between Azhar/Fawad/Babar can probably bowl close to the results he has fetched so far against the Aussies?

That said, I am hoping/praying for a Shaheen/Nassem/Hassan miracle and bowl Aussies out within 170 to stay around the 300 mark...and in doing so, also assert good control like on the first day to not let Aussies run rampant scoring wise...then Imam, the 4th innings warrior will lead the way to a victory in company of all others (hey, it is my dream)

Need a miracle bigger than last test to save this test match...otherwise series to Australia...

Anything under 250 and Pakistan have a good chance.
For that the new era Wasim and Waqar need to take Australia down once more and get Australia all out for 130-140 today.

Given that Australian bowling blow hot and cold, I think Pakistan has decent shot at chasing 300 in 100+ overs. Anything about will be tough. Pakistan is unlikely to win anything over 350.

Not a very educated question or thread , in cricketing sense . How can someone talk about Pakistan win from here , does not make any sense.

Sajid was trying to same sunshine of his bald head glaring into batsmen eyes to get them out like your all time favourite player junaid zia ;)

HaHaHa, don't dig old memories. Fact that I saw his shinny tind up close in Fortress stadium Lahore still makes me have nightmares. Sajid Khan should have tried the Kapil Paa Jee teeth tricks though, those work much better!

A dream is a dream, see the end of my earlier post and tell me if the script is not working out a bit like how I laid it out? :-)

I am still hopeful for a draw and maybe, just maybe a 5% chance of us winning; Babar just have to channel the spirit of old man Inzi from 1989?

Aaap keh muunh mein ghee shakar!

What a day it is when an Indian supporter has more faith in the Pak team on Pakpassion lol
