For me other than the fact that it is an India-Pak game and a final nothing else matters. Say we win the Champions Trophy, the bragging rights over you guys is what would remain however the title CT Champions hardly carries any weight.

Teams would go back to focusing on building their team towards WC 2019 which is what matters for teams and most fans anyway.

I hope that this is the last edition of this pointless tournament. And its either replaced with a more meaningful test championship or nothing at all.

ODI has a WC and that is what should be and remains to be the only relevant world tournament.

We havent won anything worthwhile in 8 years. Its been quite the drought and we've been a terrible side for the past few years. We need this more.

The rivalry has been incredibly one sided and dull. We can't do anything against India and fall apart miserably. Its ridiculous. We need this win more than anything for the rivalry to actually feel reciprocated again.

The things it can do for us as a cricketing nation are a lot. Morale, money, pride, confidence to take on any team with a solid accomplishment under your belt to look back at

Not much for India, but winning CT17 will definitely do a lot for Pakistan.

Pakistan I thought had lacked confidence before the cup to compete with the 'big boys'. Will go home now knowing they can win in limited overs cricket too. A series win against WI will not look like a big deal, which is a good thing.

They will know they are close to building a bowling line-up that looks Pakistani, won't have to restructure everything. Just minor changes to go with 3 world-class fast bowlers. They are much closer to being a good LOI team than they appeared to be.

Batsmen will go back knowing they are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be and with a top bowling lineup, they might not need to be as powerhouse or as modern as people want them to be. 250 isn't always be a bad score.

The win will change things in Pakistan cricket at the grassroot level. A good and confident Pakistan team will be good for cricket.

Not just ignite passion, but Sarfraz will become a stronger captain and we will see many youngsters coming into Pak team and replacing ttf's like Hafeez,Wahab, shehzad etc. If Pak looses, then i can see Hafeez taking over captaincy from Sarfraz in the long run and Pak once again becoming minnows in ODI.

Getting to the final has cemented Sarfraz till WC. Much needed stability.

I think BCCI should just gift the Cup to Pakistan whose people need it much more than India. Sometimes personal achievements should be superseded by humanitarian deeds.

In what way is this tournament pointless? It is a competitive international tournament with top 8 teams participating. Obviously coming out as the best of these teams is an achievement and it will be phenomenal achievement for Pakistan, considering it was originally ranked the lowest of the 8.
Secondly, the 2019 World Cup isn't even much different from this Champion's trophy. It merely has 2 extra sides, a lot more matches and it is also taking place in England. So it is like an extended sequel to the 2017 Champion's trophy. The 'importance' is just symbolic, historical, nostalgia-glasses inspired only because it is called a 'World Cup'. Otherwise like I said both these tournaments taking place in England are two versions of the same thing with the World Cup being extended and having prestigious, nostalgic brand value. So winning this trophy is a great thing as well. Don't take it away just because it is branded as 'Champion's Trophy' and not 'World Cup'

P.S: if I am not wrong, the original two World Cups also had 8 teams and same number of matches as this very Champion's trophy. The World Cup brand simply became a bloated tournament, with an influx of excessive associate teams and too many matches with the passage of time.

Don't act smart. We're gonna take the cup by crushing you guys. Gifting? Lol :yk

It matters more to India in my opinion
A convincing win will put a final stamp and Reignite the imagination of cricket fans

One year on guys. What do you think it has achieved?

It has made world take note of Pak as a LOI unit. They are not considered pushovers and most top teams will be wary of facing Pakistan.

The problem is, Pak is still an unpredictable unit in ODI cricket. Nothing has changed about them in that regard in the past 2 decades.

They've become somewhat stronger yet still seem to have some frailities. With that being said its a team with a lot potential and solid players. Just need to get rid of the TTFs completely.

We were still a work in progress when we managed to pull that off.
A lot of pieces of the jigsaw have fallen in place since.
We now know guys like Hasan fakhar shadab faheem are here to stay when there was a chance that it could just be a good tournie for a few of them

One thing for certain is that the CT triumph helped paved the path for giving youngsters more chances.

Imam, Talat Hussein, Shaheen Afridi and Usman Salahuddin (not exactly a "youngster" but still) all made their debut after the CT.

Have something to make fun of India with

Biggest impact, quite evidently.

Second biggest impact was on the PCT - as rightly pointed out by a poster above, it has helped infuse new talent in the team and given confidence to Sarfaraz. But Pakistan will remain Pakistan. 300+ against best one day, and 15/6 in 15 overs the next.
