What's so special about Sohail Tanvir? | Tanvir vs Akhtar vs Anybody Else

Yah, he's definitely occupying a spot in the team without actually providing much. I would give him a few more matches in this series though, at least let him settle back into intl. cricket. He was devastating with his swing three years ago. If he can find that, he could be great in the world cup.
 
Sohail Tanvir you're Awful

Why is this guy in the team is just beyond my understanding. He doesn't have any variation in his bowling. Why are we sitting out Akhtar for this useless player. He can't bowl, bat, or field. :pissed:
 
They are preserving Akhtar, smart move, hes not really a rhythm bowler anyways that he needs practice before the world cup
 
If anything they should have Ajmal replace him. Sohail Tanvir is a liability in the team.

right now shoaib is completely lost and is just banking on his past antics to stick on to the place in the team, something that could only be done in a pakistani dressing room

shoaib is not even the shadow of his past ...i fear for him in the sub-continent
 
Shoaib Akhtar bowled very well against SOuth africa sans hte last game. Akhtar bowled very well against England. Since hes come back hes bowled well. 1 or 2 bad games and Tanvir is in. TAnvir fing. sucks
 
Big Wides. Leg stump half volleys. Short and wide outside off. Ordinary in the field. Yet to show worth with the bat.

He's just saving a spot for Akhtar/Ajmal.

There is no way he will ever play over them during the world cup.
 
he should be booted out of the team. shoaib should play instead

If so, why is he part of the squad. Its criminal to select him when he throws up pies like he has today. Really Rana should have been there in his place.

Plenty of room.
Slapped over cover for a 6 by a bits n pieces batsman.
 
To me it was the worst ball bowled by a frontline fast bowler.

His slower deliveries are way too predictable

Akhtar or Rehman should have played instead of him

Enough is enough .... If this is the kinda bowlers Waqar is producing than its time to kick him out. I mean these sniggers dont have simple basic control over line. If you bowl a couple its fine but when 15 wides are bowled then u r not playing on international level.
 
Sohail Tanvir over Junaid Khan? How pathetic can it get?

Considering a guy who can't control his line or length , cant swing much ,dont have any pace , cant bat either over a guy who bowls around 87/88mph can swing the bowl vicously both ways , got immaculate control over his line and length , can bowl deadly reverse swinging yorkers , got a decent bouncer as well , isnt selectors can get any worse???

His FC stats are impressive......35 matches 167 wickets[though against weaker 2nd division regional sides].............but he should definitely have been in the WC squad ahead of broken fan SOHAIL TANVIR.

It was a poor ball, but by no mean the worst ball.

If yes, how many times, against?
 
whenever you select a guy based on reputation rather than performance you witness the mess that is now being created by sohail tanvir. any young bowller like cheema or junaid would have been better but this is pakistan cricket. If sohail can't swing the ball in NZ he can definately fail to swing the ball in the subcontinent. the fact that Pakistan were bowlling first but sohail also failed today. I see Akhtar coming in for him in the next match.

Yaar Rana, junaid khan, sohail khan, shoaib akhtar, hammad azam, talha, cheema, arafat are all better than him.

This guy has totally lost it, just don't know how he has managed to pick so many wickets in The ongoing domestic season?

Pakistan will play only 3 seamers in WC, Abdul Razzaq being The third, so I'm sure Ajmal will take his place.

Afridi simply loves Sohail which is the only reason he's in the team. Afridi is no Imran khan, he didn't even play Hammad azam in the T20 wc so it's not going to change now. Defensive captain, he'd rather have experienced crap than an upcoming talent, oh well, he would like players similar to himself

A very good batsmen at that. I was laughing when the NZ commentator gave him no hope when he came to the crease. He is a very very handy all rounder I think.
 
Pakistan have missed a trick by not playing Rana Naved. He is good with the new ball, a proven performer in the subcontinent. On top of that he is pretty handy with the bat no doubt.

Tanvir is also pretty useful with the bat , no doubt. He needs to play a few more games to get into better bowling frame of mind.

In ODI these days you need your number 8 and 9 to be okay with the bat.

look at junaids average and strike rate...i had said even before squad was announced they werent gna pick junaid khan...

sohail is an awful bowler...its a joke picking him ahead of tanvir ahmed aswell...who can also bat better than sohail tanvir can...


look what mohammad amir did in the t20 world cup, inzi in the 92 world cup...i could probably go on and on
