Think to me the constant humming of printers etc when you want peace and quiet is one thing.

Any other experiences? Annoying colleagues etc?

The most annoying things are pesky and toxic colleagues who act as spies for the boss. I had a few in my previous job, but was able to get the better of them.

A junior assistant (call her Ms. X) in my previous workplace had this habit. She would go and report what was happening to the boss everyday. If by chance someone came to work a bit late (even 10 minutes late), the boss would find out through her. I happened to be late on a couple of days and the boss mentioned to me that I had to change my ways during a meeting.
A few days later Ms. X happened to be late. I seized the opportunity. That afternoon I had a routine meeting with the boss. At the end of the meeting as I was about to leave, I turned back from his door and said, " By the way, I came in late today. Ms X was late too, so she probably didn't tell you." And I left.

I did see his face turn tomato red though. Had a good laugh with my colleagues later.

What about smells in the office? In the middle east, we have people from different nationalities who eat their own unique brand of food - can be a bit offputting!

It's not much of a problem here in Europe. Although sometimes people bring in french fries and the smell of oily potatoes lingers on for quite some time afterwards.

Site accidents which under slightly different circumstances would have been fatal.

Annoying is the wrong word though. Terrifying is the right one.

The people who buy into the whole corporate messaging and turn into proper try hards who totally change their language and approach. By all means do a good job, play the game and earn your money, but don’t sell your soul.

I know a few people who 'played the game' just so they could take their employer to court.

as above

People who take their jobs too personally and expect others to work like them. I understand some people like to put in long hours and treat their job like its their life, but for the rest of us, we have life outside of work.
Worse, they even start giving you suggestions and sometimes borderline commands as to how to work and that we are not as motivated and nerdy like them. I only like to work for the amount and hours that I am paid for. Because when the time comes for layoffs, our hard work rarely works as a shield to protect us from the axe.

People who come to work to be friends, see it as their social life & expect others to befriend them.

I get on with all, regardless of what their personal life is. I keep it professional but some expect you to be their friends. Usually its to be in your good books but I cant be friends with people just because they work with me, if they dont have anything in common with me.

We had a lady who loved fish, used to warm it up in the microwave, as we had an open office plan the place stunk so badly. I had to instruct her not to bring such strong smelling food into the office.

Also mainly women but also men wearing strong cheap perfumes.

I was forced to wear a pink t-shirt for breast cancer awareness at one of my last jobs.

I don't know why people should be forced. It should be a personal choice.

I am not against breast cancer awareness but I don't want to wear pink. It is a feminine color.

Im sure you looked lovely. :)

We were encouraged to support the Royal Jubilee, with events and parties. I told the management, I hate the Royals, they are supporting peados etc. I felt as most did, so we didnt really entertain this event although I wasnt at work in that week.

Hmm.

I think these things should be optional. If someone wants to do it, he/she can. Nobody should be forced.

Think add to it forcing people to wear rainbow colours etc for company events.

But guess that is a societal thing!

Didn’t know colours could have gender. Thought they were just different wavelengths of visible light. Humans might assign genders to colour. In the nineteenth century UK, pink was considered manly. Humans are funny.

I did a charity bike ride to raise breast cancer awareness and wore my pink shirt with pride.

It's fasicst liberalism in broad daylight.

Technically speaking if you mix all the rainbow colours you get white, but guess what, wearing white is deemed racist by liberals.

There's no pleasing this liberal cult.

The reason why Pink refers to breast cancer is because Pink is indeed a feminine colour, and guess what, females have breasts.

Then again, liberals believe if a man feels like a woman she/he/it is a women (ignoring the science) and vice versa.

I think we should opt for 2-tone colours, or worse case, matt finish. :)

Racist? Why?

Wearing white is a sunnah act in Islam. I personally love wearing white.

In Islam wearing white has a different meaning of course, same in Christianity (often referred to as purity), but in the world of liberalism, wearing white is construed as racist given the post WWs stigma.

This is why we have the rainbow flag, each colour representing some aspect of LGBTQ etc.

White just don't sit right with Liberalism.

A shop full of patients but staff being lost in their own worlds and lacking any urgency.

Outdated or useless IT systems.

Chemists always seem a very chilled out place to work. I ask a question and they casually walk off, returning with someone different who wants to know how they can help me.

Btw Not asking for medical advice but are you seeing a rise in hayfever patients asking for medication? Is there anything suitable for children to ask over the counter?

Some of them are pretty chilled, some can be a shambles with lack of staff and organisation. Thankfully I can pick and choose where to work.

Yes definitely. For children over 1 years old you can buy an antihistamine like Chlorphenamine (also comes under brand name Piriton). It can make you drowsy though.

This can be beneficial with rowdy kids :))

rednecks who think they are praising you by asking you how your English is so good.

I was working for a startup and one of the initial co-founder/CEOs was quitting. It was a sudden announcement for the company (but not so sudden that the HR team had time to custom print shirts for all employees) and the managers were forced to tell their team to wear the shirt during the townhall.

As is the case in our 'bedh-chaal' work culture. Everyone obeyed.

I wfh a 100% now and no longer have to deal with all the above annoying characters!
The top 3 would be:

Heating up fish/pouring the brine of tuna down the sink
Tell tell colleagues
The team members who drink the company kool aid and cannot see anything wrong with the company!

Condescending insecure and nasty senior co workers who think they can pull your leg because you are new

Poking nose in others domain have put a couple of colleagues i their place smartly
