What's new

What's your favourite food?

Ok I admit I really love dosa.Sucks that we don't really get the good ones in here.

Poli?Is that a thing in Mumbai too? Don't know about its history sold in massive quantities in Chennai.

It's a pancake and made in Marathi households. I don't think it originated from Mumbai. My maternal side granny is a specialist, they are from Pune.

Didn't knew it's called the same even in South :)

Authentic Sichuan hotpot or Xinjiang Ramen.... absolutely brilliant.

Authentic Gulanyu longtou fishballs from Gulanyu in Xiamen China is legendary too.

Best food in Aus is still genuine Vietnamese Pho !

Wasay I'm surprised you know about nihari

NONE and I mean none of my Indian friends knew much about nihari till I introduced them to it including the one from Delhi

Yeh I can see why , I have no idea what Nihari is as well

Thai Red curry
Hakka Chinese
Poutine
Butter Chicken
Daal - Any Kind tbh
Kung Pao Chicken
Dosa

1. Seekh Kabab
2. Daal Chawal
3. Briyani
4. Pasta with bologna
5. Javed ki Nihari
6. Pad Thai
7. Bangali ka Burger ;-)

Surprised nobody has mentioned Hot n Spicy paratha rolls yet. Garlic Mayo Chicken Tikka roll.. mmmmmmm

That is a thing of beauty. Sad we don't get good paratha rolls here in Toronto (and if we can't get it in Toronto then you won't find in most places outside of Pak maybe in NYC/Lon)

Whenever I'm in Pak I have enough to fill my demand for the whole year.

I've had enough of them to last me a lifetime perhaps. And def knocked a few years off my life expectancy

Have you tried them with chapati rather than paratha? Surprisingly they're still very delicious and relatively much healthier

Yeah my parents have them with chapati and I always used to give them this look :sanga

But I tried it once and it was good too. However, nothing beats the paratha though.

What is it called if I was to buy it in the Indian store ? Like the normal parantha or a specific kind or brand

Getting those frozen packet ones will be a huge injustice to it, but even if you still want to then I can recommend this:

dawn-paratha-plain-20-paratha-gomart-pakistan-3426-500x500.jpg

This is available in most Indian/Pakistani stores.

lol that picture literally has me drooling esp with the masala on the chicken

Lucky that a Hot n Spicy is literally 5-10 mins walk from my place

Also... Hot N Spicy > Red Apple.

Khada Market wala?

That was the closest to my house. Although it was a 5 min drive, but a 30 min walk.

In your dreams, mate. Didn't try Hot n Spicy, but there's no way it could be better than Red Apple.

It is an established fact that Hot N Spicy is better than Red Apple. I mean they shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

Well, I only used to have Red Apple's rolls so not sure about their other products, but the rolls were awesome. Then again, been ages since I had them so things may have changed drastically in all this time.

For a long time I also used to think the same but then i saw the light

Though in other food (ie non rolls) Red apple is better imo

Well the gulf isn't THAT big

Love a nice steak.

Recently went to Torros - delicious food.

With over three decades under my belt for trying various different cuisines all around the globe, I have come to the conclusion that a well prepared Authentic Afghan food is the best in the world.
Carrot raisin long grain Afghani pulaow with bbq chicken kafta n Kabab, lamb skewers, green chutni, mantu, rosh, egg plant Bolani - everything is just great!

The light but perfect amount of spices that enhance the flavor of meat n veggies - easy on the tummy and super flavorful in the mouth.

Northern Pakistan’s Shinwari Tikka and Authentic Peshawari karrahi is equally good.

Most of it is considered healthy food.

On the other hand, Indian cuisine has to be among THE WORST on the planet.
An extra, extra large doze of horrible and pungent spices overpowering the taste of meat or vegetables, and way too much hot red chili powder.

Or the vegetarian junk like aalu, gobi, mooli, daal and beans that turns you into a gas bomb and all day long

From this list Kashmiri tea should be easy enough to access in Canada bro. Most Pakistani and even Indian places will have it on the menu. Do you guys have desi chai places in Canada? In recent years they are everywhere in UK.

The rest is difficult even in UK. We have halal duck in some Chinese restaurant but I'm not a huge fan of it.

Camel I have tried in Arab Countries. Camel milk you can get in ASDA here ( it's like our Walmart). Quite tasty.

Sarson da Saag with Makki di Roti, served with lots of Makhan and Adrak da Achaar.

Butter Chicken with Garlic and Butter naan, served with Onion and Pudina Chutney

It’s between these two OG foods for me.

oh man my mom loves Saag. Whenever we go to some marriage ceremony and they serve this dish there and she fills her plate with that, i am always like why not go for the BBQ or Rice.

oh the thread title changed seems like it. These are the foods i never tried and would love to try.

Anyone who has tried Taco bell what is it like? @moghul @DeadlyVenom @sweep_shot

Taco Bell is not halal. So, if I buy from there, I generally go for fish or veggie option.

Taco is an okay food but I like their burrito much better. I eat burrito frequently.

Thanks, brother.

How does camel meat taste like? Is it like beef?

1) Rajmah chawal
2) Chicken Biryani
3) Sarsoon ka saag with paratha

Might be a mixed bag, but:

Breakfast: Masala Dosa

Lunch: Butter Chicken with Rumali Rotis

Dinner: Curd Rice

It’s the OJ Punjabi dish.
Blessed to be born here, what our people have done with food, no other cuisine comes close.

Taco bell is very tasty and cheap, I used to eat quite often , but now I'm older and more health conscious hence eat fast food rarely. Overall , I love Mexican food. Now, out of fast foods, my favorite is Chipotle.

Food is the biggest incentive of staying back in Bharat. We are blessed, no other country in the world comes even remotely close to offering the variety and awesomeness in local cuisines.

:inzi :kapil

That is very nutritious. Looks good too.

Well done.

Thanks, just a tad oily but that’s a big part of the recipe; it’s essentially just oil, chillies, garlic/ginger, salt & black pepper lol

The secret ingredient is yogurt 😅

wow looks yummy... can u plz share a receipe?

Follow this exactly:

Main tip, don’t worry about the oil, you can take it out after the keema has been cooked.

And don’t worry about the onions either! I feel it doesn’t work well with any Shinwari dish.

1. Most favorite is by far any dish with hilsha, be it simple plain fry or the more royal hilsha in mustard.
2. it's a tie between prawn malaikari( made with coconut milk), Bhetki paturi( smoked bhetki fish in banana leaves), and mutton biriyani.
3. sonamug dal with rice accompanied by thinly sliced potato fries, shukto ( a bengali preparation with mixed vegetables)
4.Fish Kaviraji, mutton brain chop.
