What's Your View About Raghuram Rajan (The Much Revered RBI Governor Of India)

BJP 2013 has easily been the worst govn to have such a huge mandate.
Except for passport office thanks to Sushma and her minstry ,there has absolutely been no difference and BJP has weakened the institutions as well.

Sad they we're supposed to bring the change but nothing on ground ,their biggest positive for 2019 is Raga running from Congress and easily ppll would choose Modi.

I don’t mind weakening the institutions as long as we have a vision to it. Our institutions are not progressive and instead serve as a bottleneck for a country grappling with poverty. I don’t mind being an outright capitalist country if that puts food on the table. Unfortunately all our governments have a hybrid approach to polity, so we end up with the worst of both models. This money grab from the current government is extremely short sighted but it’s atleast a push in the right direction. Better that than the mindless dribbling we saw with the world renowned economist in charge

Sorry but our nehruvian and british era institutions needs to be radically changed. The country is held back by them.

Not that i agree with the RBI-Govt tussle, but bureaucracy, police, rbi almost every institution needs a top to bottom change.

RBI has to have decision making authority, RBI actually has been pretty decent considering all institutions in India, I do agree SC is an issue and we dedn need Police reforms where Police are not under the thumb.of Ruling govn..but BJP is doing exactly what Congress did or does, this BJP is far from what Vajpayee and his ideals stood for.

If this is how institutions are to be revamped then even Hd Dev gowda will be revolutionizing institutions.

Another Modi stooge in such a key position. He has made these eminent institutions such a big joke.

Apparently the guy is a history graduate with some minor post graduate qualifications in finance and business. Pretty much every other rbi governor in history has had a masters if not a doctorate in economics.

BJP stooping to new low, clearly no leader in India can handle a huge mandate, Vajpayee would had been better though.

Our nehruvian and British era institutions needs a top to bottom change like this. How else BJP will show some “development” before the next GE. All they have now is some statues, name changing cities, angry farmers etc. Let’s see how long this loot will go..

Opposition isn't hyperventilating when it says our institutions are under attack.

Illiterate choosing another illiterate for such a top and sensitive post. What else can you expect? Now expect bhakts to even kowtow this.

As they say, vinash kale vipreet buddhi....

Thats why Modi didn't like Raghuram Rajan. He was too literate for him to understand.

If he is an IAS, then he may have a fairly good idea about economics. Getting through the IAS exam is not easy, so we can assume he is reasonably smart.

The job of RBI governor isn't that hard to do. He has to decide when to raise or lower interest rates. Simple rule is raise interest rates when you feel inflation is on the horizon. Besides that, he has to make sure that the banks are not giving out bad and risky loans.

From the days of Manmohan Singh, Raghuram Rajan, C Rangarajan, Bimal Jalan, Y V Reddy, etc we have come to a history graduate occupying top post of RBI! There isn't an institution left by Modi which is untouched by his 'imprint'.

Dark days ahead, if there aren't enough already.

Remember this gem from the new RBI guv during demonetization chaos,

"We have been trying to analyse reasons for long queues; it has come to our notice that the same people are coming again at the same places. To solve this problem we have decided to use indelible ink marks, similar to elections, on cash counters," then Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said at that time.

Shows how 'competent' this guy is to handle this huge job, thrust upon him by Modi.

Raghuram Rajan is very good but him talking like a politician about things he has nothing to do with had raised some suspicions. And now there are some rumours that he might join the congress. Manmohan Singh has shown him the way probably.

The reason behind Urjit Patel’s resignation is a matter we should discuss in some other thread I guess. The Government had put forward some suggestions that are a bit hard to agree with. Can’t blame him really. I don’t doubt the intentions of the government but they really shouldn’t have put pressure on him like that.

Agree. I wonder why people doubt the intentions of our government. Finally we have a PM working for the people.

And double agree with you that we must doubt the intentions of Raghuram Rajan.
