There is no rivalry between India and Pakistan.

There is a gap between the two team, like a school team versus a state team, yet they are labeling it a rivalry.

Minnow Pakistan is nothing in front of Indian team.

I’m in India right now , and big festival here and still majority new folks didn’t care about the game and were out, can’t even imagine that 10 years ago, insane.

Older folks were still watching it though..

Primarily because of the history factor and the geopolitical equation

But in terms of sporting relevance , it's losing relevancy very quickly
 
And also it's a no win situation as far as the Pakistani cricketers and their fans are concerned.

Even if they win one match now , and they go on crowing about 152/0 , the point is that would just be a one off.

I'm a die-hard India supporter myself and want them to win every match, but Pakistan needs to win a match against India to keep the India-Pakistan rivalry alive. Pakistan last won a match against India in 2022.

Never heard a strong team get thrashed by minnows in every single world cup, nor heard a strong team have 12-8 record in tests against a minnow.

Do you even understand what the word minnows means?

Minnow level is 13-1 overall world cups and 6-0 in ODI World cups.

12-9 in Tests, 8-0 in ODI World Cups.
 
For this rivalry to revive on the field, I'd say Pakistan needs to somehow win 2 games in a row. That is a 50-over World Cup win followed by the following year's T20 World Cup win.

That should do it.

If the same batsman/bowler is the hero in both games, even better.

Test (premier format): Pak lead by a big margin
OdI - pak lead massively

85-67 in 2 premier formats combined. Only when you add mickey mouse t20 that it is 88-81.

I'm afraid Pakistan can only win one off games against India from here on..and even those will be few and far in between with their frequency reducing year by year.. decade by decade.

Just for reference....the last time Pakistan won two international games in a row against India was 14 years ago. Since then, both the teams have played 25 games and Pakistan have not won two consecutive games against us even once. And India are currently on a 10 match unbeaten streak against them (9 wins 1 NR).....just to put into perspective. Could have a 10 match winning streak if not for rain in Kandy.

This is a misnomer because we hardly play series more. It is like saying last time ind won a series vs pak was in 2006. In 2013 Pak smashed Ind in Ind.

Im talking about 170 wickets on 200 plus par score wickets India will still be ahead but gap can close with a few young batsmen from Pakistan being better than previous ones.
 
No one really cares about the head to head anymore. The two sides don't play bilaterals anymore otherwise even that H2H record would be different.

ICC tournaments/Asia Cup are the only times the two teams meet and the record there depicts the gap between both the sides.

It is quite rare that we play multiple games in a year without a series - last year Asia Cup and 2018 Asia Cup being an exception. So that stat is as meaningless as saying Ind never beat Pak in a series post 2006. There is no doubt Ind have performed better in the last few years but overall the H2H gap is too big in Tests and ODIs. Pak also have a massive ICC tournament final drubbing of India in this period - biggest final margin between us and Ind have never beaten us in an ICC tournament ODI final. Not to mention a 10 wicket T20 WC drubbing - Ind's wins in contrast were razor thin in 2022 and 2024.

Meanwhile India had a 5 match winning streak from 2014-17, 3 consecutive wins in 2018-19 and now are currently on a 9 match winning streak since 2022 without a single defeat. Just admit that you guys are only capable of winning one off flukes against us.. it's not that hard.

And by the way...2011 SF and 2007 Final >>> Any match ever played between the two sides.

Unless and until Pakistan beats India in two World tournament finals, you guys will look like tiny chihuahuas making these dumb arguments.

When did Ind beat us in an ICC ODI final? That's right...2009 T20 WC more than cancelled 2007 T20 WC. 2011 Semi was a big game yes but 2017 F made up for that.

Lmao..A hundred Champions Trophy finals can't "make up" for a world cup semi final or a T20 World Cup final.

There's a reason why a generation of Pakistani fans were left scarred by the Mohali defeat and even to this day abuse Misbah ul haq for that reverse lap in Joburg. Only a pea minded fool will compare actual World tournaments with second grade champions trophies.

You know a rivalry is dead when ur key player celebrates hitting a 6 & even creates a documentary on it - after losing badly 3 times in that tournament

Reminds me of how Panama was down 5-0 against England in 2018 WC , scored a goal & whole team celebrated like winning the World Cup !

Remember Bhartiya fans in the 90s? Dirt poor nation, nothing much to look forward to, so all our frustrations used to come out in very toxic ways. Cricket losses felt like personal attacks and burning stadiums, attacking player houses was very common.

While we have moved on and started seeing sports as sports, things aren't the same for Pakistani fans. Watching Bhartiyas leapfrog them in sports and economically brings out similar rage our previous generations had in the 90s.
