When will Mohammad Hasnain and Haris Rauf be ready for Test cricket?

At the moment the pace attack is decent which can carry on for another year or two

But need some back up though.

Imran and Musa don’t have it in them

Hassan Ali not sure what’s he’s up to

Haris Rauf and Hasnain have pace, and Hasnain has height too

Both are very raw though.

A season or two of first class cricket is needed. They shouldn’t be given NOCs and asked to bowl long spells in FC cricket

Hasnain can be a long term option. Haris seems more like a T20 specialist. Needs to work on fitness if he wants to play ODIs or Tests for Pakistan.

Hasnain is on the right track in terms of fitness. He is much more leaner in terms of physique. I think if he plays matches in QAE 2020 and performs along with showing fitness in different spells than maybe in 2021.

Regarding Haris, I think he bowled decently in few games of QAE 19 and also bowled well in Pakistan Cup 2019 (50 overs tournament) and was the the 6th highest wicket taker. He just needs to work on his overall fitness and if he can go through PSL straight after BBL, National one day cup, T20 internationals before World T20 and then WT20 itself then he will be in much better physical condition. Then QAE 2020 will be up his sleeves to prove his form in longer format.

So both are very much possible by 2021.

Keep them limited overs specialists. Shaheen, Naseem, and Abbas should be our pace trio. Sameen Gul should be the backup.

Hasnain is a mystery no idea why..why hasnt he played any First Class cricket at all. its not as if he has been injured..you only get rythm when bowling in first class. Rauf is definately not made for 5 day and we will waste him if we did..i think one days and 20 20s he is perfect

Hasnain seems like he'll be ready soon if he isn't already. He has the lift and has natural shape going away from the right hander.

Don't really Rauf has anything more than a limited overs bowler.

Think Rauf has the skills for test cricket, I certainly wouldn’t mind him as an option for England, at least part of the squad, see how he does in warm ups. Think he can harass the off stump.

Fitness and overbowling are the two aspects to consider, which is why we need to manage 6/7 quicks across the formats..

Husnain has all the ingredients to become good test bowler.
The problem with him is lack of control and inexperience of bowling at international level .He needs to play full first class season

Good thing is Hassan might make a comeback, but Abbas and Naseem, especially Naseem might be dropped.

And Haris and Hasnain are yet to play a 4 day game I reckon since the day this thread was created

Misbah is generally reluctant to try new bowlers. Rahat Ali was undroppable for a couple of years despite ordinary performances (and a younger Abbas waiting in the wings). Yasir Shah similarly can’t be dropped regardless of how he performs overseas

Wouldn’t expect any debutants to get a chance until Misbah is out.

Hasnain is an average bowler, basically another Sami with less talent and equal brain, but he will get his chance ahead of the rubbish Naseem Shah and declining Abbas pretty soon.

Nothing wrong with getting Hasnain ready for tests. He has played only 2 first class games so yes, he has to spend time in the domestics for a long long period before making a case.

I think the right decision was made regarding Hasnain. He was very raw at the time and still is for teat cricket. They all meed to play a lot more FC cricket to be honest.

Interesting idea. Thing is lack of some young players playing FC matches got exaggerated this year due to combined big squad.
