"Whenever an Aurangzeb comes along, a Shivaji rises" : PM Modi

New Delhi: Seventy-six advocates of the Supreme Court have written to Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, asking the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognisance of the calls for "ethnic cleansing" at two recent religious events in Delhi and Haridwar. Naming a list of people who had given the call, the advocates wrote that in absence of police action, "Urgent judicial intervention is required to prevent such events that seem to have become the order of the day".

Pointing to the religious conclaves in Haridwar and Delhi, the letter -- signed by eminent lawyers including Dushyant Dave, Prashant Bhushan and Vrinda Grover, Salman Khurshid and former Patna High Court judge Anjana Prakash -- read: "The aforementioned events and the speeches delivered during the same are not mere hate speeches but amount to an open call for murder of an entire community".

The speeches, the letter said, pose a "grave threat not just to the unity and integrity of our country but also endanger the lives of millions of Muslim citizens".

Following outrage and condemnation on social media over the open calls for genocide and use of weapons against Muslims, a police case was filed four days after the Haridwar event, in which only one person was named. Two more names were later added - Dharm Das and one Sadhvi Annapurna.

In one of the videos, "Sadhvi Annapurna" – formerly called Pooja Shakun Pandey -- is heard saying, "If you want to finish them off, then kill them... We need 100 soldiers who can kill 20 lakh of them to win this".

Those who organised the event and gave hate speeches, claim they did no wrong.

Hindu Raksha Sena's Prabodhanand Giri -- photographed often with BJP leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Dhami -- said he is "not ashamed" of what he said. "I am not afraid of police. I stand by my statement," he had told NDTV.

In one of the videos circulated on social media, he is heard saying: "Like Myanmar, our police, our politicians, our Army and every Hindu must pick up weapons and conduct a Safayi Abhiyan (ethnic cleansing). There is no other option left".

"It may be noted that no effective steps have been taken under the provisions of 153, 153A, 153B, 295A, 504, 506, 120B, 34 of IPC in respect of the earlier hate speeches. Thus, urgent judicial intervention is required to prevent such events that seem to have become the order of the day," read the letter sent to Chief Justice Ramana. It also pointed out that several petitions have been filed on it and are pending with the court.

"We are writing to your Lordship hoping for prompt action in your capacity as the head of the judicial wing of the State and knowing your Lordship's commitment to both the independence of Judiciary as also the constitutional values that are fundamental to the functioning of a multicultural nation such as ours," the advocates have appealed.

His dynasty was not Indian, so doesn't matter how down the dynastic line he came from.

He killed sikh gurus, destroyed hindu temples, levied the jaziya on non muslims. He was a bigoted looting tyrant and is seen as such in India.

Pakistanis can keep calling him a saint or hero or may be a Pakistani, doesn't matter one bit in India, here he is a third rate villain and thats how his name and dynasty will be treated.

Lol, please yaar, stop smoking the strong stuff! He is Indian and his dynasty is Indian cos its considered from the time of Babur, not before.

You saying Pakistanis or whatever saying he's Indian doesn't make him Indian also applies here where you saying he is not Indian does not make him not Indian either.

These are not nazi salutes, they are doing a oath taking.

But the nonsense they have vomitted deserves a jail sentence.

Why hasn't anyone been arrested yet for inciting violence and hate speech? Meanwhile, Siddique Kapaan is still in jail for over a year now.

Why hasn't anyone been arrested yet for inciting violence and hate speech?
If that starts to happen in today's India, most of sanghis would have been rotting in jails. Hell, bigot himself would've been serving a long jail term for inciting violence and hate speech.

Raipur: A police case has been filed against a Hindu religious leader from Maharashtra after he allegedly insulted Mahatma Gandhi, and praised his assassin, Nathuram Godse, yesterday at a 'dharam sansad', or 'parliament of religions', in Chhattisgarh's Raipur.
Sant Kalicharan Maharaj - whose controversial speech also led to 'chief patron' Mahant Ramsunder Das disowning the event and walking off stage in anger - has been charged with promoting enmity between communities after ex-Mayor Pramod Dubey registered a complaint.

The President of the ruling Congress' state unit, Mohan Markam, has also called for a sedition case.

In his speech - clips of which have been widely circulated on social media, Kalicharan Maharaj declares that the aim of Islam is to capture the nation through politics. He also declared "Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi destroyed the country... salutations to Nathuram Godse, who killed him".

Kalicharan Maharaj demanded people elect a "staunch Hindu leader" to "protect" Hinduism.

A furious Mahant Ramsunder Das - from Chhattisgarh's Dudhadhari temple - was quick to protest, pointing out that Mahatma Gandhi had sacrificed his life for the country and that such abusive language could not be used at his expense.

"Mahatma Gandhi has been abused from this stage and I oppose it. This is not sanatan dharma nor should such a thing happen on a platform like a 'parliament of religions'. I want to ask the organiser... why didn't you raise an objection when such words were being used," he asked.

"This country - where 30 crore Muslims live, where around 15 crore Christians live... will it become a 'Hindu rashtra' if you call it so?" Mahant Das also said as he walked off stage.

"I do not belong to this event..." he declared.

The head of the ruling Congress' communication wing, Sushil Anand Shukla, was quoted by news agency PTI as saying: "The use of abusive words against Mahatma Gandhi is highly objectionable. Kalicharan should first prove that he is a saint."

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was scheduled to attend the event's closing ceremony, but he skipped the event.

Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik also tweeted, saying: "An insult to Mahatma Gandhiji is an insult to our nation. Strict action should be taken against Kalicharan Maharaj and he should be booked for insulting the 'Father of our Nation'. We are receiving further details from Akola and Maharashtra Home Ministry must also take action."

This follows controversial comments from other Hindu religious leaders at two recent conclaves in Delhi and Uttarakhand's Haridwar, where calls for "ethnic cleansing" were made.

In Haridwar, at another 'dharam sansad' that was organised by Yati Narasimhanand, a religious leader who has been accused in the past of inciting violence with his incendiary speeches, there were open calls for genocide and the use of weapons against Muslims.

Those who organised the events, and gave hate speeches, claim they did no wrong.

The events - and police inaction against the speakers - triggered a worried letter from 76 top lawyers, who wrote to Chief Justice NV Ramana, asking for action against those who made the threats.

Goa polls ahead, MP Tejasvi Surya ‘withdraws’ call to bring Muslims, Christians back to Hinduism

Controversial BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Monday issued a statement on Twitter “unconditionally” withdrawing his recent remarks stating that those who had converted to Islam and Christianity should be brought back into Hinduism fold, and that the mutts and temples should be set annual targets for this.

Surya’s statement had followed the introduction of the anti-conversion Bill by the BJP government in Karnataka, which was passed by the Assembly amid protests by the Opposition.

On Monday, Surya, the MP from Bengaluru South, tweeted, “At a program held in Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt two days ago, I spoke on the subject of ‘Hindu Revival in Bharat’. Certain statements from my speech have regrettably created an avoidable controversy. I therefore unconditionally withdraw the statements.”Sources said Surya, who is considered close to the central BJP leadership, was told to issue the statement in light of the coming Goa elections, where Christians form a sizeable chunk of the population. It is the first time perhaps that the MP, often accused of incendiary statements, has issued such a clarification.

At the Mutt programme, Surya had said: “There are people who belonged to Hinduism but were converted to Islam or Christianity. It is our duty to bring these people back into the fold of Hinduism. Also, Hindus in Pakistan who were converted to Islam should be brought back into the fold.”

Calling Hindu religion “tolerant, scientific, progressive and forward-looking”, he added, “All the mutts and temples should have annual targets to bring back people to Hindu religion. For instance, there were people who had to undergo religious conversion because of Tipu Sultan… It is important to bring these people back to the fold of Hinduism. That is the only way a renaissance can happen.”

The BJP had finished behind the Congress in the last Assembly elections in Goa but managed to form the government. This time, apart from the Congress, the BJP is facing a resurgent AAP and the newbie Trinamool Congress.

Earlier this year, Surya had embarrassed the BJP by saying before the Tamil Nadu elections that the BJP wanted to end ‘Periyarism’ (all the main political parties in Tamil Nadu, including BJP ally AIADMK, swear by Periyar, who advocated atheism).

During the anti-CAA protests, Surya had courted controversy saying that only the “uneducated, illiterate, and puncture-wallahs (people who work in garage and tyre repair shops)” were protesting against the Act.

Karnataka has become the latest BJP-ruled state to bring in an anti-conversion Bill – officially called the Karnataka Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021. Prohibiting conversion from one religion to another by use of misrepresentation, force, fraud, allurement or marriage, it advocates one of the strictest punishments for anyone doing this.

Exactly this. I just love how Pakistanis incluing their PM himself throws these terms losely like fascits etc for Indian govt as if they have any say on Indian politics. Considering Pakistan itself is a religious autonomy with one of the worst human rights for minorities in entire world makes it even more hilarious.

Off topic but pretty sure most of these guys dont even know what fascism is and what Benetto Mussolini stood for. But anyway...

BJP and their cronies are obviously going to say this but he was a ruler, not an invader.

Anyone can say anything about anyone. It, last time, I checked, was a free world.

IF you don't want to accept what IK is saying, then that is your choice.

What is the historical importance of this Shivaji? Seems like a footnote of history because nowhere where Indian civilizations are talked about is he mentioned. Usually read about Mauryas, Ashoka, Mughals and the British colonizers.

I had heard a bit about him and googled him and it seems his empire itself, if it can be called that, itself caused widespread death and destruction in Indian states such as Bengal killing or injuring millions.

Hindutva have elevated him as he was the only Hindu warrior of note at the time of the Mughals. They are using his name to progress their own ideology and hate.

Who brought up Mussolini? Azb didn't come out calling for the genocide of a whole religion. Members of the Pakistan govt. have never said this either. However, it's rampant within the very govt. you're trying to support.

You might agree with their prerogative and that is your choice but I don't think any decent minded individual from any religion would agree with this kind of hate sloganeering.

As Hindu Extremists Call for Killing of Muslims, India’s Leaders Keep Silent
Right-wing Hindu activists at a conference took an oath to harm Muslims if necessary to make “a Hindu-only nation,” the most blatant example of rising anti-Muslim sentiment across India.

Hundreds of right-wing Hindu activists and monks rose in unison at a conference this week to take an oath: They would turn India, constitutionally a secular republic, into a Hindu nation, even if doing so required dying and killing.

“If 100 of us are ready to kill two million of them, then we will win and make India a Hindu nation,” said Pooja Shakun Pandey, a leader of Hindu Mahasabha, a group that espouses militant Hindu nationalism, referring to the country’s Muslims. “Be ready to kill and go to jail.”
Even by the standards of the rising anti-Muslim fury in India, the three-day conference in the city of Haridwar, 150 miles north of New Delhi, produced the most blatant and alarming call for violence in recent years.

The crowded auditorium, where right-wing Hindu monks called for other Hindus to arm themselves and kill Muslims, included influential religious leaders with close ties to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governing party, and even some members of the party.

Videos of the event have spread widely on social media in India this week. Yet Mr. Modi has maintained a characteristic silence that analysts say can be interpreted by his most extreme supporters as a tacit signal of protection.

The police, who readily jail rights activists and comedians on charges lacking evidence, have been slow to take action. Even opposition political groups have been restrained in their response, an indication of the degree to which right-wing Hindu nationalism has gripped the country since Mr. Modi came to office in 2014.

The inflammatory remarks come as some states governed by Mr. Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party, or B.J.P., are holding elections, including in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where the conference was held. Mr. Modi was busy campaigning this week in Uttar Pradesh for Yogi Adityanath, his hard-line protégé and the state’s chief minister, who has frequently fanned anti-Muslim hatred.

Multiple episodes of violence against Muslims have been reported during election season, including attacks by mobs trying to close businesses owned by Muslims.

“There are virtually only a handful of political leaders left who even mention the need to preserve India’s secularism,” said Gilles Verniers, a professor of political science at Ashoka University near New Delhi. “The B.J.P. may face increasing political challenges, but it has won its cultural war, with lasting effects on India’s democracy, and on India’s largest minority.”

Right-wing Hindu nationalists have preached violence online for years, but the violence has recently spilled onto the streets. Muslim fruit sellers have been beaten and their earnings snatched away after being accused of luring Hindu women into marriage to convert them. Muslim activists have been threatened with prosecution under an antiterrorism law that has been scrutinized by courts.

In recent months, Hindu nationalists in Gurugram, a major technology center about 15 miles south of New Delhi, have confronted Muslims during Friday Prayer. Bands of right-wing Hindus have interrupted prayers with chants of “Jai Shri Ram!” Meaning “Hail Lord Ram,” a major Hindu god, the chant has become a battle cry for Hindu nationalists.

“We are fast losing everything in this country, including the right to worship,” said Niyaz Farooqi, a Muslim who works in an automobile showroom in Gurugram. “A right given to us by the Constitution of this country.”

On Friday, four days after the conference ended, and after the videos circulated widely, the police in Uttarakhand announced that they had opened an investigation but that no arrests had been made. Officials said they have registered a case against organizers of the conference for promoting “enmity between different groups on grounds of religion,” which can mean a jail term of five years.

“We will do the investigation as per law and such types of incidents will not be tolerated,” said Ashok Kumar, a top police officer in the state of Uttarakhand.

During the conference, Swami Prabodhanand Giri, head of a right-wing Hindu organization in Uttarakhand, said the country now belongs to Hindus.

“This is why, like in Myanmar, the police here, the politicians here, the army and every Hindu must pick up weapons, and we will have to conduct this cleanliness drive,” he said while referring to Muslims. “There is no solution apart from this.”

Mr. Prabodhanand’s aides declined to comment for this article.

Videos from the conference also showed Suresh Chavhanke, who heads a news channel, administering an oath to turn India into a Hindu-first country.

“We make a resolution until our last breath: We will make India a Hindu nation, and keep it a Hindu-only nation,” he said. “We will fight and die if required, we will kill as well.” He then tweeted a video of the oath to his half a million followers.

Political observers say the government is allowing hate speech of this kind by remaining silent in the face of calls for violence, a silence underscored by the meekness of the political opposition.

Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay, a biographer of Mr. Modi who has written extensively on the rise of the Hindu right, said the B.J.P.’s earlier leaders thought they could use Hindu nationalism to mobilize constituencies but then contain the ideology. That calculation backfired in 1992, when Hindu activists demolished a major mosque.

Many earlier B.J.P. leaders expressed regrets about the episode, but Mr. Modi has no such qualms, Mr. Mukhopadhyay said at a recent book event.

“They thought they were going to ride the tiger, easily tame it and get down. But you can’t easily tame a tiger. If you ride the tiger, you have to decide that at some point the tiger is going to eat,” he said. “Modi decided to allow the tiger to eat sometimes and lead the tiger when he wants to.”

Nothing new.

Modi and RSS have been inciting violence & hatred towards Muslims in India for a while.

However isnt there a better hero for Modi?

Shivaji failed to conquer India from the Muslims. I guess this is the best of a failed bunch.

Pakistan summons top Indian diplomat over hate speeches at ‘Dharam Sansad’

At the Haridwar event, which was held from December 17 to 19, the controversial Yati Narsinghanand, the priest of Dasna temple in Ghaziabad who is facing several FIRs in UP, called for a “war against Muslims” and urged “Hindus to take up weapons” to ensure a “Muslim didn’t become the Prime Minister in 2029.”

IN AN unusual intervention days after a ‘Dharam Sansad’ held in Haridwar saw a series of hate speeches targeting Muslims and calling for violence and assassination, Pakistan’s foreign ministry Monday summoned the most senior Indian diplomat at the High Commission in Islamabad and asked him to convey their “serious concerns”.

In an official statement, the Pakistan ministry said: “Today, the Indian Charge d’ Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad and asked to convey the Government of Pakistan’s serious concerns to the Government of India over the widely reported open calls by Hindutva proponents for carrying out genocide of Indian Muslims.”

India’s charge d’affaires M Suresh Kumar was summoned by the Pakistani officials on Monday afternoon.

While critical statements by foreign ministries are common, summoning of Indian diplomats about incidents related to minorities in India is rare. In fact, it is usually India that has in the past issued several critical statements on atrocities against Hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan, and summoned Pakistan’s diplomats — most recently in August to protest the attack on a Hindu temple in Rahim Yar Khan region of rural Punjab in Pakistan.

Former Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay was among those who had attended the event.

Following nationwide outrage, three persons were booked in connection with the hate speeches. Swami Dharamdas and Sadhvi Annapurna, along with Waseem Rizvi, who had assumed the name of Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi after converting to Hinduism, were named in the FIR lodged last Thursday.

The FIR has been lodged under Section 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language)

The Pakistan Foreign ministry said it was “impressed upon” the Indian Government that it was “highly reprehensible” that those who called for ethnic cleansing at the event have “neither expressed any regret nor the Indian government has condemned or taken any action against them so far”.

The statement also said it was conveyed to the Indian side that the reported hate speeches have been viewed with “grave concern by civil society and cross-section of the people of Pakistan and around the world”.

Claiming that a “toxic narrative against minorities, particularly Muslims…has become a norm”, Pakistan said it expects India to investigate these hate speeches and take measures to stop such incidents from recurring in future.

Blocking foreign funds is going after Christians?

Its an ongoing and sustained pattern where minorites are targeted Sanghi thugs are creating havoc being violent, disrupting festivities, senior bjp leaders are making threats, bringing in anti minority laws and there are zero repurcussions or charges against them

If this is the india you want where there is a climate of fear and aggression against minorities then you are a part of the problem

Blocking foreign funds is going after Christians?

No it's not. But there is a way of going about things. Timing the announcement on Christmas is not a coincidence and when you add that to the rowdyism, intimidation and vandalism of religious figures that has happened around Christmas in BJP-ruled states, you know there is a serious problem.

It's a good thing Christians don't seem too riled up when their religious figures are vandalized. You know the consequences with Muslims and the BJP-bhakt Hindus are still crying about stuff that happened to their idols hundreds and thousands of years ago.

What would be your stance on Christian countries blocking Jaggi Vasudev (whose company :srt is registered in the US) or even blocking ISKCON funding and their open conversion tactics?

Modi-Shah led-BJP are the biggest hypocrites to have graced this land.

As a hilarious Congress leader whose name I forget once said during a debate - In UP, the BJP look at a cow and say, "Mummy". When they are in Goa or the North-east, they look at a cow and go, "Yummy." :))

No wonder foreign investment is sinking in India. The question is which will hit bottom first in India? Foreign money or Human morality.

Unless of course, that church was the epicentre of mass forced conversation (as some highly educated and knowledgable bhakts online like to refer to conversion :))) )

No wonder foreign investment is sinking in India. The question is which will hit bottom first in India? Foreign money or Human morality.

Human morality, India is in top 5 to have the largest foreign reserves, India is not going broke anytime soon, and that argument is often made by Bhakths to counter and hide behind it when India's morality issue is highlighted, particularly in the context when Pakistan is mentioned.

Another from my state. Third-class rogue and woman-beater whose crimes were hidden by the power of his party just because he does Modi bhajans every morning

This guy is an MP.

This pest is a known rabble rouser. No wonder he is held in such high esteem by sanghis, just like bisht and motabhai. These creatures have such a great future once bigot is out of picture.

What good is national wealth when India has one of the largest gaps in wealth inequality.

Austerity breeds facism and crime.

Have you read the statement of MoC and the home ministry?

Have you read the statement of MoC and the home ministry?

So maybe Mamata was doing some drama by associating Christmas with regular proceedings. But you haven't answered about the unprovoked attacks around Christmas. Also, your stance on Hindu conversion attempts in Western countries?

So who is the Aurengzeb of today that Modi has risen?? I am eager and curious to know.

Aurangzeb are the bad bad muslims in modis world

Modi is leading the country to civil war The moderate voices need to speak up before the fire gets out of control

Because mamata wants christian votes in goa.

Conversion as long as voluntary, without allurement or coercion or misrepresentation or by force is fine.

They won't due to brainwashing, apathy, fear of reprisals and being called anti-national.

I am looking for the name of an Indian Muslim who superman Modi looks upon as his opponent.

Conversion as long as voluntary, without allurement or coercion or misrepresentation or by force is fine.

Conversion without force or coercion is a generally acceptable principle. Not sure about the others.

How can someone convert without allurement. I can understand a person discarding religion, any religion, for life. But if you're going to shift, there must be something that the other thing offers you. What's wrong with that? Hindus who are so worried about losing people they don't normally care about, should reform or progress to ensure those that are leaving, feel and experience their Hindu identity in their daily lives and not just during elections.

What do you think Hindu gurus are doing in Western countries? They are selling esoteric claims that are attractive to people looking for a way out of the drudgery of existence. Isn't that allurement? And talking of misrepresentation, Jaggi and his ilk do that and worse while trying to get non-Hindus to adopt their ways and part with their money :rabada2

New Delhi: Uttarakhand police have filed a hate speech case against Yati Narasimhanand - the organiser of a 'dharam sansad', or 'parliament of religions', in Haridwar last month that triggered outrage after some Hindu religious leaders urged people to take up arms against Muslims and called for genocide.

Narasimhanand - who has previously also been accused of inciting violence with incendiary speeches - was one of those who spoke at the event. He is the fifth person to be named in a FIR (first information report) that was filed four days later and only after public calls for action.

The others named in the FIR are Sagar Sindhu Maharaj, a woman identified as 'Sadhvi Annapurna' and a man named Dharam Das, as well as a Wasim Rizvi aka Jitendra Tyagi. All five have been charged with promoting enmity between religious groups and defiling a place of worship.

Clips from the event - held from December 17 to 20 - were circulated on social media and drew sharp criticism from former military chiefs, activists and even tennis legend Martina Navratilova.

According to a police complaint filed by Trinamool Congress leader and RTI activist Saket Gokhale, others at the gathering were the Hindu Raksha Sena's Prabodhanand Giri, BJP women's wing leader Udita Tyagi, and BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay, who is out on bail in a hate speech case.

However, the organisers and speakers at the event have insisted they did nothing wrong.

Speaking to NDTV, Prabodhanand nonchalantly said: "I am not ashamed... I am not afraid of police. I stand by my statement.... If anyone tries to kill me, I will fight back. I am not afraid of the law."

Vile speeches at the 'religious' conclave in Haridwar - similar to another in Delhi - and the atmosphere of hatred spewed were red-flagged by 76 of the country's top lawyers, who wrote to Chief Justice NV Ramana and asked the Supreme Court to take suo moto cognisance of the events.

"... the events and the speeches delivered during the same are not mere hate speeches but amount to an open call for murder of an entire community ... (pose a) grave threat not just to the unity and integrity of our country but also endanger the lives of millions of Muslim citizens," they said.

Their letter was followed by one from five former Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces, who wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to warn them that such calls for violence could lead to internal disharmony and also embolden external aggressors.

Apart from the events at Delhi and Haridwar, other Hindu religious leaders made similarly disturbing speeches at another 'dharam sansad' in Chhattisgarh's Raipur last month, at which a Kalicharan Maharaj declared that the aim of Islam is to capture the nation through politics.

A police case has been filed against him.

Asaduddin Owaisi an offspring of Aurangzeb, represents idea of Muhammad Ali Jinnah: UP BJP MLA

Lucknow: BJP's Bairia MLA Surendra Singh said that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi represents the idea of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in today’s India. Making scathing remarks on Owaisi, Singh accused the AIMIM leader of trying to divide the country and described him as an offspring of Aurangzeb.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Uttar Pradesh BJP lawmaker said Owaisi is like the offspring of Aurangzeb...but he (Asaduddin Owaisi) must know that PM Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath are like Shivaji and have taken avatar to get rid of the people of this new age Aurangzeb.

Taking aim at Samajwadi Part leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav over Income Tax raids on the premises of Peeyush Jain, Surendra Singh said the person who was raided was the Kuber of SP leaders.

Referring to the IT raids on businessmen in Kanpur and Kannauj, the BJP MLA said that the SP leadership is feeling the heat as had stashed the cash to help the Opposition party during the Uttar Pradesh elections 2022.

Singh, known for making controversial remarks, had earlier called AIMIM chief a "political terrorist" and accused him of trying to instigate and break the society.

"Owaisi is a political terrorist. It is his intention to instigate and break the society," Singh had said.

Asaduddin Owaisi has announced that AIMIM would be contesting the UP elections 2022. The AIMIM supremo has been aggressively campaigning for his party in view of the upcoming polls.

Owaisi recently has criticised the decision of Narendra Modi government to raise the minimum age of marriage for women from 18 to 21, terming it "ridiculous".

On 29th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid at Ayodhya, Owaisi had post a video clip from his old speech with the hashtag #NeverForgetBabri.

New Delhi: In an open letter, a group of students and faculty members from the Indian Institute of Management requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak up against hate speech and caste-based violence in the country.

The signatories said that the PM's silence on these issues was emboldening the hate-filled voices.

"Your silence, Honourable Prime Minister, emboldens the hate-filled voices and threatens the unity and integrity of our country. We request you, Honourable Prime Minister, to stand firm against forces that seek to divide us," the students and the faculty said in their letter.

The letter comes in light of the recent Haridwar Dharam sansad event where some Hindu religious leaders urged people to take up arms against Muslims and called for genocide.

"Hate speeches and calls for violence against communities based on religion/caste identities is unacceptable," the letter said.

The signatories said that even though the Indian Constitution provided the right to practice one's religion in dignity, there was a sense of fear in the country.

"There is a sense of fear in our country now - places of worship, including churches in recent days, are being vandalised, and there have been calls to take arms against our Muslim brothers and sisters. All of this is carried out with impunity and without any fear of due process," they wrote.

"Your silence, Honourable Prime Minister, emboldens the hate-filled voices and threatens the unity and integrity of our country. We request you, Honourable Prime Minister, to stand firm against forces that seek to divide us," the students and the faculty said in their letter.

The letter was signed by 183 signatories, including 13 faculty members, students and faculty members of IIM-Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore.

At the Haridwar event, a Hindu religious leader - Sant Kalicharan Maharaj - said that the aim of Islam was to capture the nation through politics.

In the controversial speech, clips of which have gone viral, Kalicharan Maharaj also urged people to elect a "staunch Hindu leader" to "protect" Hinduism.

Indian supreme court to investigate Hindu religious leaders over 'genocide' against Muslims claims
There has been a spike in attacks against Muslims and other minorities in India since the Hindu right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won general elections in 2014 and 2019 - with many feeling the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been deafening.

The Supreme Court of India will investigate alleged provocative statements by Hindu religious leaders in December 2021.

In a closed-door meeting in Haridwar, saffron-clad religious leaders called for Hindus to arm themselves for "a genocide" against Muslims, according to a police complaint.

The supreme court has sent a notice to the Uttarakhand government to explain why those accused of calling for genocide had not been arrested.

Spike in attacks against minorities

The court will begin its investigation next week.

Uttarakhand police have said they are questioning suspects but no arrests have been made so far.

Video clips of the meeting had been widely circulated on social media and news channels.

Former military chiefs, civil society leaders and activists including tennis legend Martina Navratilova have criticised the event.

The state of Uttarakhand is ruled by the Hindu right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

There has been a spike in attacks against Muslims and other minorities since the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the elections in 2014 and then a landslide re-election in 2019.

Christmas celebrations disrupted

The attacks on minorities and the absence of immediate and harsh punishment has emboldened Hindu extremists, with many seeing it as tacit support by the administration and government.

Communal speeches and actions are tearing the country apart and many feel the silence of the prime minister has been deafening.

In Gurugram, a satellite town adjoining the national capital right-wing Hindus repeatedly stopped Muslims from praying in public spaces.

On several occasions Muslims faced threats and bigoted slogans while they prayed.

M.L. Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, which is ruled by the BJP, announced that Muslims should not offer Friday prayers in open spaces.

The statement is seen as support to the right wing which has emboldened them across the state.

Last month police arrested a Hindu religious leader for allegedly making a derogatory speech against India's independence leader, Mohandas Gandhi, and praising his assassin.

In December, several Christmas celebrations in more than half a dozen states across the country were disrupted by Hindu right-wing activists.

Accusations of inflaming communal hatred

In Ambala, a statue of Christ was torn down and the Holy Redeemer Church was vandalised.

In the northern city of Agra, famous for the Taj Mahal, the effigy of Santa Claus was burned on Christmas Eve.

The activists claimed that Santa Claus was part of a strategy by Christian missionaries to convert people.

Several missionary schools have come under attack in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka - states both ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Five states are due for elections in the next few months and communal polarisation will see an uptick, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The opposition parties have accused the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath who is a Hindu monk, of inflaming communal hatred.

'Flawed democracy'

In a conclave televised by the national broadcaster, Yogi Adityanath said: "It will be an 80% versus 20% in the UP polls and the BJP will retain power."

The opposition accused the chief minister of hinting at Muslims who constitute 20% of the state's population and of dog-whistle politics.

According to the Economic Intelligence Unit Democracy Index, India slipped from 27th position in 2014 to 53rd in 2020 as a result of "democratic backsliding".

It has classified India as a "flawed democracy".

Religious leader Yati Narsinghanand is second person to be arrested for Haridwar hate speeches

Hats off to Vicky Kaushal for his historic portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the movie Chavan. I bow down to the bravery of these heroic figures of Hindutva who stood up to the barbaric forces of Aurangzeb. A must watch film.

The film portrays the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Confederacy and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Great to see all the patriots filling the movie theatres to show their support to the movie and respect the heroes

Seems like another garbage movie.

Aurangzeb was a sharp leader. Under his leadership, Indian subcontinent flourished.

Chaiwala Modi or any so-called shibaji is unlikely to achieve even 1% of what Aurungzeb achieved.

Cultural and spiritual renaissance moment for Bharat

Both of you are wrong. Shivaji was a great ruler, one who kept the interests of his subjects ahead of everything, while Sambhaji was the oppositr of his father a drunkard and a womanizer. His army was famous for raping women, while Shivaji had a strict rule of not hurting any woman. I can quote marxist historian Pansare on Shivaji and RSS's favorite historian Jadunath Sarkar on Shambhaji to prove my points.

Its released in UAE.. why would you think its not released there?

I think for many converted Muslims of the subcontinent, it’s a cultural shock that that the OG Muslims of the Middle East do not quite see the barbaric and zaalim invadors of Bharat as heroic figures worth defending.

Someone as blood thirsty and cruel as Aurangzeb cannot be a sane persons hero.

This is an excerpt from Jadunath Sarkar's book " House of Shivajj". Jadunath Sarkar is RSS's favorite historian. Infact West Bengal BJP even wrote a song with lyrics like " You only read Romila Thapar, but not Jadunath Sarkar".
So yeah, if you want to idolize Shivaji who actually was a great ruler, you can't venerate Shambhuji.FB_IMG_1739910731270.jpg

I think for many converted Muslims of the subcontinent

I am not sure what you implied by this statement. Even Arabs themselves converted.

Arabs were pagans, Jews etc. before converting to Islam.

First convert to Islam was Khadija (RA) who was the wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

BTW, modern day subcontinental Muslims are not converts. We are born Muslims. Our ancestors converted.

Ignorance of BJP Indians truly astonish me. :inti

Bangladeshiz are Xiaomi Redmi Note

There is nothing called "OG Islam" in Islam. LOL. Islam is from God. Our sources are Quran and Sunnah.

Anyway, I understand debating about these with an ignorant BJP clown is a waste of time. :inti

We don't need approvals or validations from BJP lunatics.

It doesn’t matter.

We are tight with OG Muslims, they’re our buddies. You were a Kumar few generations ago. It doesn’t matter what you say. You sold your religion for a bag of rice.

Not a single BJP politician including chaiwala Modi is fit enough to polish Aurangzeb's boot.

Aurangzeb is one of the most influential and successful leaders in subcontinent's history. Deal with it.

I don't follow Bollywood releases, that is why I suggested it be released in UAE. Because I know the Arabs are fairly relaxed about minorities living in their countries and just let them get on with it.

No one is as influential as Zionists, and you are currently living under them so deal with that too.

While This was Shivaji. Shivaji and Shambhuji was polar opposite of each other.

Money is everything in those nations.
