We used to have these names in our team (Razzaq and Afridi) who would be our match winners and game changers (Save us the embarrassment and bring victory when defeat was imminent)

I still cannot forget the innings of Razzaq vs Australia (vs McGrath) , or his last over bowling vs SRL in Sharjah, or his innings vs SA in Abu Dhabi

Similarly cannot forget Afridis blitz vs India on many occasions (Tests/ODIs) or against Bangladesh or be it any other team.

Opponents used to sweat and fear when they were at the crease, but from the current lot whom has the management groomed to be the next match winner? (Faheem/Imad/Shadab/Hasan/Asif Ali?).

I am sorry, but there is no one from these who has done anything special to win us a game. '

It is the managements failure to have picked the wrong players and not identified someone who had shown the passion and grit to win us games on the trot.

Someone said that Asif Ali was our new Afridi back in April. That didn't age well.

Well if you pick him based on his 3 Sixes in PSL, I am sure there have been many such batsmen who have done same in domestics and that too consistently, with better averages.

We being non-cricketing experts can point out such mistakes but wonder what goes in selectors minds.

From what is evident , Khushdil shah seems a better pinch hitter prospect with a better Average compared to Asif.

Afridi was pretty useful back then, it's too bad he wasn't utilized properly.

Still was up until he retired

Asif Ali is just awful - only good for T20s

In 15 years of career, Razzaq played some good innings and 1-2 good bowling spells, most of the time his performance was very average, but some innings including one against Mcgrath and one in UAE were sensational , made him famous and stayed in the team for too long. Azhar was a better all rounder, a complete batsman and a better bowler. But on his day, Razzaq was more destructive.

Let's not think they were greats of the game
What did they do in the crunch in 03, 11 etc

This is what happens when ppl follow cricket careers on YouTube
