What's new

Where was Haris Sohail all this while? Huge injustice to suppress this talent

Haris is quality I don't care how he looks in 3 days side game or random t-20 jamodi's come that match I back him to stand up and be counted
I rate haris very highly in odis, he still has to perform in tests, where i think his lack of fitness will be a problem. But haris is in no shape or form, a t20 player.

Agreed. The fact that he hasn't been able to deliver with the bat even in PSL and holds a domestic T20 strike rate of around run a ball shows he is nowhere near good enough to make the cut in the shortest format of the game.

Another disappointment - just 4 in second innings - looks like in poor form

What has happend to Haris Sohail? 3 flop innings in a row.

Was it in Aus he said he was haunted by some ‘ghosts’ last time?

In woeful form. Overseas is where the true character of a player shows. Haris isn't inspiring much confidence.

Sohail shouldn't be included on current form. I'd rather play Iftikhar who can also contribute with the ball.

Haris technially and mentally looks shot to pieces. Australia is one place you will be tested technically and the fact haris feet are in cement and hes always feeling for the ball means hes a sitting duck in these conditions right now.

what do you mean tested only in australia?

how are you not tested in u.a.e.

Aussies can't play spin well either and neither can they play on low bouncing pitches.

haris is in bad form. it happens. yes pakistan is have trouble with bounce but I am just saying being able to play spin and on low bouncing wickets also requires skill. front foot skills.

here in australia there is more emphasis on performing using the back foot.

Haris takes the wicket of Matthew Wade in the first Test at the Gabba.

What's his role?

43* off 66 in ODI vs Zimbabwe - has to stay until end

This should be it for him. He needs to go home, work on his fitness and if he can get better, come back. If not, it's the end of his international career.

Anytime he has to push for ones or twos he is out of his breath and can't go again the next ball. After 50 odd balls he is done. Routinely fails his fitness tests.

Should not be acceptable for a domestic team, let alone for Pakistan.

And some see him making to 2023. He will only get worse especially with this attitude.

This is what you call double standards I have said previously on numerous posts he isnt fit enough he always misses fitness test even inzamam would have better fitness than him

Cramps for Haris

How bad is fitness?

View attachment 104148

Cramps aren’t really related to fitness, it’s more water intake and the environment around you. Even the best athletes in the world suffer from cramps from time to time. Haris can definitely improve on his fitness but he’s still one of the best batsmen we have today so I don’t get the unnecessary hate he gets.

I won’t lie, it might be good he got a cramp if it means he’s rested next game. It will force Misbah to give Khushdil a chance.

Haris unfit again..what a surprise..this guy has no proper work ethic..probably goes home and eats biryani karahi etc..

That is correct to much water can also cause cramp but we know that his fitness isnt that great

I am fine with the injustice story but what's the deal with his fitness? Always seems to have issues.

Was cramping in the 1st ODI but surely cant be so bad that he cant play in 2nd ODI? seems some other issue

From what we understand - this is an injury to his quadriceps - and not cramps as our esteemed commentators were saying

Hafeez and Malik have been occupying 2 critical spots in the middle order for years. We have likely missed out on Haris' peak years thanks to the seniority culture

So unlucky with injuries which have not helped his stop/start career.

Needs a good run without injuries to really show what he can do.

You mean the deal where PCB ruined his career with those failed knee surgeries from a few years ago?

Why is he carrying that added weight on his knees especially after that knee surgery? he is overweight and should not be playing cricket. It is embarrasing to see a player like him who is so good and can be a world class player in all formats, but he just refuses to work hard on his fitness.

Even rohit sharma is dropped but no, not Haris haha

An average player with too many expectations on him. He starts off slowly in most innings and finds it difficult to increase to a run a ball.

Any reason Haris Sohail isn't playing?

He is in the 35 man squad. Not playing in the first team and neither the Shaheen team.

He is our best batsmen after Babar Azam when fully fit. Both walk into our teams in all formats.

I assume he is fit otherwise why select him.

He isn't a good t20 option
Very good for ODI and test but t20 I find he isn't good maybe that's why their not playing him in t20s

However you would think he would a little practice with the Shaheen team Intresting he isn't playing for Shaheen match against NZ A team

He isn't a good T20 option?

Are you serious?

Khushdil, Haider, Abdullah are better options than Haris?

Haris is our second best batsmen across ALL formats when he is is fully fit.

He has been selected in the 35 man squad so must be fit.

He is better than players mentioned but doesn't mean he is a good t20 batsman
He is a great batsman but personally don't feel t20 is his strong format

Must be fitness...surely talat ifti and even saffy will play next game and after that they should be sent home

This has been the exact question on my mind. I also agree with you that Harris is without any doubt the second best batsman in the country. His omission from both t20s and the Shaheens game is utterly bizarre and needs explaining.

Could Saj ask the management/someone in the team maybe?

Bizarre whichever way you look at it.

If he is fit then he should be in the first team.

If not then why have you selected him.

Bar the odd innings he isnt a good ODI player either

Probably out due to fitness. But if it's not fitness and the selectors don't think he is one of the best players in the country, we are even more dumber than I thought.

You believe a Fully fit Haris is not good enough to walk into the Pakistan team?

Abdullah, Haider and Khushdil better?

Haris averages close to 50 in ODI. 2 hundreds and 14 fifties in 40 odd games batting down the order.

He is very average bar the odd innings. Finds it difficult to rotate the strike. Shuffling between average players isn't going to help anyone.

Perhaps he's lazy, but he's easily in our best 6 Test batting options. Better than Abid, Azhar, Asad, Shadab etc. Especially with Babar being a doubt for the first Test, and Asad out of the squad, there's no way he doesn't have a spot in the side.

Haris is not fit. He is a liability on the field - on a good day, the ball won’t come near him.

He also cannot convert dots into singles and singles into doubles. Good ODI player, though. Unfortunately he won’t make it to the 2023 world cup, so should be dropped immediately from all formats.

Tests are the only place he might fit, though I would much rather develop a half decent youngster instead.

He didn't play the A game either. Has to be a fitness issue. If he is going to remain this unfit how can you select him for a five day game?

He shouldn't be playing ODIs at any rate. The reason is pretty simple, he isn't going to make it to 2023.

Half decent youngsters like Abid, Fawad, Azhar? He's younger than all of them.

Agreed with the rest though.

He isnt a good option in t20s hes good enough for odis but the nexy big compition is long way so he should be dropped be dropped from that to.
The only format he should play is tests.

he simply isnt fit enough he cant run he has massive fitness problems

should move on from him he isnt fit enough and wont last til 2023 and no way is he a t20 player

Might be younger but is he fitter than them? You can knock those guys all you want but they are fitter than him.

Odi wise he might fit in but yes overall it's that fitness of his that is lacking. I mean looking at his age 31, i mean that's still fairly young (i have my own bias as i am 31) but seriously how can you have all these fitness issues??? ohh my knees hurt, give me a break you are a cricketer not a laborer. Really pathetic some of these guys get these issues, the consistency in exercise and diet is not there.

Athletes across all sports can have knee problems it’s not an age thing. His knee surgeries and subsequent rehab was grossly mismanaged by the PCB so you’re left with what’s in front of you.

Overrated, useless cricketer.

They said he is a future ATG :rp

I think it's entirely unfair to judge him on one innings. He has done more than enough in the past to show his class. What I don't understand is why this match is his first game all tour. Clearly should have been playing both Shaheens and/or T20s. He shouldn't have to use the test match with NZ on top to find his form.

Once again, terrible management from Misbah and co on full display.

I like Harris because i have a soft spot for elegant left handers. Unfortunately, he is very injury prone which hasn't helped his career.

His fitness and injury are to much hence why he doesnt play much cricket i would give him chance if his fitness was ok but its below average and hasnt shown no room to work on it
