The whole indian and pakistani squad that played in 2006 karachi test. I was auditing one of the sponsors and they gave me a pass which apparently had high level of clearance. Had the pleasure of meeting with pakistan and indian greats like sachin, ganguly, dravid, sehwag, inzi, yousuf, kumble shoib etc.

I've never really been one for wanting to rub shoulders with cricketers. I'm there to watch them play cricket, and getting their autographs or my picture taken with them doesn't interest me at all. When I go on tour I do see them around town sometimes, but when they're out and about they want to be able to relax and think about stuff other than cricket, so I let them have their space.

I did once spend some time chatting with Alastair Cook in the domestic departure lounge of Lahore Airport. He'd just been called up as cover for Michael Vaughan, and we'd been on the same PIA flight from London. We both had the same onward flight to Multan too, and although he was in 1st or business class for the international leg, for some reason he was in cattle class for the internal leg. I remember being massively impressed with his maturity, and it doesn't surprise me one bit that he's gone on to achieve so much.

I've met a number of players and ex-players briefly, but not spent much time with them.

The first cricketer I met was Kim Hughes, during a net practice session. (1980-81?)

The second was Kris Srikkanth who came to our school to play a regional match in 1983(?). Srikkanth stayed at a neighbour's house and I had a chance to meet him (and play a casual game with tennis ball) along with a group of friends.

I met Robin Singh (dont remember the year, could be mid 90s) at my cousin's marriage (where I found out that Robin is husband of one of my distant relatives)

I met Kapil Dev in 2002 at a shop where he had arrived for a promotional event.

I met Sreesanth in 2009 or 2010.

These are ones I recollect readily. I am sure there are more.

My flight back from London to Lahore was the same as the Pak team's, hours after winning the T20 world cup back in 2009 - I saw almost everyone (except MYK, Afridi, Razzaq and Fawad Alam - they went straight to Karachi).

My mother literally dragged me to meet some of the biggies, saying that I would regret not meeting them for the rest of my life (initially, I was just happy to look at them from afar, take their pictures as they passed by). Anyhow, I met Salman Butt, Umar Gul, Shoaib Malik and Misbah. Tanvir stood by in one of the pictures, but I couldnt say hi to him.

I also saw Ahmad Shahzad, Aamer, Shahzaib Hassan, Kami, Dave Dwyer, Aaquib Javaid and Yawar Saeed (i think he was the media manager at that time..). My father was of the opinion that I should only meet/take pictures with the more established players (in his exact words, "yeh shahzad jaisay larko se na khichwai, over hojayen gey" ).

But overall, it was a great experience - one I'll never forget since they were the heroes back then..

Inti was very kind and was taking pic with everyone, Bazid came out, no one even recognised him, but i asked for a pic with him. Ehsan Adil was nice, even got his autograph. He did say to me that what is the point of giving an autograph when you will just throw it away..

As Misbah and Ajmal walked out and were lining up to board the bus, and while we had the police walas beating us with sticks, i kept screaming for them, but they never looked , probably were not happy after the loss and had to immediately board the bus.
