I'm not sure if this thread has already been made, but I wouild like to know what your tennis ball prefernce is in tape-ball cricket? Mine is either Sports Direct tennis balls or Head tennis balls. I'm asking this because I am thinking to buy the hard Indian tennis ball off the internet and wondered if they were any good.

there are different kinds of tennis balls for tape ball cricket....
for instance.... CA gold..... its a bit harder ball.... and weighs a bit more than other balls out there but its a bit smaller in size....... has an average durability.... and suits more to the bowlers than the batters.....
CA Mani.... Dunlop, Wilson and AS G200... these balls are known as gasy balls...... these balls weigh less than the ca gold balls, and are bigger in size as well, and are quite softer than the ca gold balls.... these balls do favor the batters a lot.... they have a good ricochet off the bat.....due the the flexibility.......but these balls do not last longer.... their durability is below average..... and the balls that i rank above all are Ihsan x39 balls..... these balls weigh less than gold balls, but are harder.... and the ricochet on them is amazing...... they're bigger than all the tennis balls, their size is even a hint bigger than cricket balls..... and they last forever...... hope this helps.

Sarmad, I can't find these Ihsan X39 balls that you have mentioned. Maybe you could direct me to a website where I can purchase them from?

I find that tennis balls which do not bounce are very good to play cricket with because they simulate a real cricket ball.

I prefer when they do bounce because when I apply 3 layers of Wickes tape to the ball, the ball's bounce simulates that of a real cricket ball and the better balls do not rip (even after numerous uses). In addition, the bowler has to put effort in to bowl bouncers and the ball hurts like hell when you are hit. Furthermore, I am a spin bower and find that the ball is the same size to a real cricket ball (once the tape is applied) which allows me to practice my proper cricket ball skills with the tape-ball.

Thats very true brother. But as a batsmen myself I find that bouncy tennis balls (with tape on) tend to fly of the bat even when you dont middle it. This is very unrealistic which is why a heavier and less bouncy ball is better.

p.s, sorry for not posting regularly. I am a student who is very busy with work atm.

Actually I agree with you but I prefer tennis balls which are heavy (so they hurt the batsman like hell and simulate a real cricket ball) but also have bounce so that when the tape is applied they bounce to the right height which a corky ball would bounce to. Therefore, I neither compromise on weight and neither on bounce. I prefer the best quality tennis balls rather than the ones which are available at your everyday newsagents.

I've had the CA Sports Power Tennis Ball once and it was great as it is actually designed for tape-ball cricket. Great weight and the bounce was excellent. However, my peers weren't too satisfied as whenever I bowled pace and hit them on the thigh region they were wincing on pain and jumping on the spot for about 30 seconds after the impact! If you get the chance, this tennis ball should definitely be bought. Unfortunately, we were playing in our local area once and I hit a shot that went straight up in the air and landed behind a chimney and I still think it has refused to roll down.:( Anyway, I think once the school term starts I will buy one of these tennis balls again because I am the one who is expected to supply the tape-balls to play with in school but I am not too flustered by this as out of all of my friends, I am the one who loves cricket the most.

I hope your studies go well. Are you a university student?

@FK96 Going by your date of birth, I believe you are in your first year of college right?

That is if your date of birth is right.

I'm personally in Year 11 right now, approaching the exam time.

Sorry for not replying in ages. But I am not at uni. I just put a different year of birth for my account. I am currently in year 12 and I also have my exams coming up. I wish you the best of luck for your exams. And remember revising is more important than playing cricket.
