Another World Cup.....Another rebuilding phase to follow

OK guys, what are the options this time. Atleast 7-8 players will get dropped. Do we have these many young players ready for international cricket immediately? Or will we be going back to the likes of faheem, ahmad shehzad, junaid, umar akmal, rizwan etc?
What should be the plan for WC23?

Fakhar ? Yes, he is too inconsistent, can't afford to carry a batsman who scores once in a blue moon and needs a lot of luck
Imam ? No. His performance is acceptable
Babar ? No. He and Imam are the two most reliable batsmen in Pakistan
Haris ? No. Let's keep him for a couple of years. He lacks impact but he can score runs on flat tracks.
Hafeez ? Yes. Too old, should retire
Malik ? Yes, same as Hafeez, should call it a day
Sarfraz ? A resounding Yes, brings nothing to the table as a batsman or captain
Asif ? Undecided, let's see how he performs in the world cup
Imad ? Yes, time to invest in a proper spinner
Shadab ? Yes, ultimate definition of bits and pieces, bring a proper spinner instead
Aamir ? Undecided, world cup is his last chance
Hassan ? Yes, leaks too many runs, can't take wickets either. Need to go back to domestic cricket
Wahab ? Yes, too old. Not a long term option
Hasnain ? Undecided. Let's decide on the world cup performance
Shaheen ? No, he showed some potential and should be persisted.

Inshort, Fakhar, Sarfraz, Hafeez, Malik, Shadab, Imad, Hassan, and Wahab should be dropped after the world cup.

Who should be kept would be a lot easier to answer.

1. Babar
2. .Hasnain
3. Shaheen

Jury's still out:

Imam
Amir

That's it basically.

Man you can wait until the world cup is over. Why people here react as if it happened first time. Teams fail and collapse but you can hold your guns until the world cup and support the team which is representing our country.

The conclusion of world cup will not change anything. These players have been average to mediocre for a very long time now.

Are you a pakistani or an Indian??
I've been on this forum for 2 months and I still don't know.

Sarfraz, Malik, Hafeez, Imad, Wahab.

I wouldn’t play Imam or Shadab either. Should invest in Shan and a couple of genuine spinners.

Better question should be - which PAK players (& Management) should stay after this WC.... not sure though which number will be higher :(

Need a complete revamp. From the current lot we can only keep Babar, Fakhar, Asif, Amir and Shaheen

I want to dop them all except babar and maybe amir, but who do we put in there place? Haris rauf, umer khan? Where do we find the rest?

Players to keep

Fakhar
Babar
Hasnain
Shaheen
Haris sohail

After world cup Fakhar and Babar should open. Team should be filled with strongly built batsmen and tall bowlers. Strongly builf batsmen are extremely important given that the weak players cant hit a six to save their lives.

Get Nasim shah into the side as well. Proper spinners should also be in the team rather than gimicky allrounders.

Irrespective of how Pakistan plays in the remaining matches this will be the last ODI world cup for Hafeez, Malik, Sarfaraz and Wahab.

It better be the last series they play too. What’s the point of it being their last World Cup if they’re going to leach around for the next year or two, preventing younger talent from being invested in.

Not Fakhar - not that he is that bad (I actually rate him as one of the assets of this team), rather for his cricket. Falkhar is a hack, but effective hack (@Babajee), who is living on his reflexes and eye sights. This is his prime age for that, but players like him struggles big time once that critical age is passed. Even Viv was a shadow of his former self once turning 30+. My hunch is Fakhar will suffer a major decline in form in 2, max 3 years time if not earlier - that makes him risky for next WC. His best utility is to focus on the next 2 T20 WCs and play ODI selectively, while PAK grooms another aggressive opener. After that, if he still makes the squad (not necessarily for his own game, rather could be for the quality of his team mates as well), so it be.

Haris should be forced to retire from ODI team after WC. His fitness won't allow him to play till 2023 - investing on him means exactly same of investing on Malik/MoHa after 2017. PCB will invest 4 years for him that crucial No. 4 spot, then he might not make the WC squad in 2023 - PCB will be forced to carry him just for the same excuse with Sarfraz's Captaincy. Haris should focus to be a Test specialist, which can keep him in International cricket for 4-6 more years, and that'll benefit PCT, because guy is a very good batsman.

I'll add Shadab in that list as well, but this time he needs to be in iron chain - no T20 league outside PSL, no fancy showbazi, and no focus on batting - make the team on absolute bowling merit or get benched.

I cannot disagree with those logical points really. Hand eye coordination players decline as soon as they start moving into early 30s. Haris has been a major disappointment. He should have played 150 ODIs by now at least. But he is injury prone like you said. Shadab is mentally strong but he fame has got to his head.

Problem is, Pakistan needs to move away from grafters. They need players in the mould of Inzi or Moyo who can attack as well as build innings. Power hittere are needed but preferably not hacks.

Drop all of them and that won't change the reality. We know the system is corrupt and the playing conditions back home are abysmal.

One can only hope we can come out of this seniority captaincy mindset and select players on their ability to learn and those who have the hunger. Hopefully we will get a skipper to steer the ship in the right direction.

Yap players are mediocre and obviously some of mentioned players will retire or will be shown door after world cup but until than we Pakistani fans must support them and to some extent it something which management need to think you score 250+ in uae and now in English conditions even 300+ is not save so your planning and type of game modern day demand is lacking. It easy for get rid them but what about the future as until you change your mentality and type of pitches you gonna struggle no matter who come and who goes

Fakhar ? Probably not, no alternative.
Imam ? No. His performance is incredible, people who call him ****** have no knowledge of cricket.
Babar ? No. For our standards he's a good batsman.
Haris ? He's a decent player, don't drop him.
Hafeez ? Too old, no long term future.
Malik ? Yes, same as Hafeez, should call it a day
Sarfraz ? Unsure, if we flop then deffo sacked as captain but as a batsman only might be different.
Asif ? A good world cup and we can invest in him, need powerhitters.
Imad ? Depends how he does in the WC
Shadab ? Probably not, depends how he does in the WC.
Aamir ? He's been crap in ODI's for a while but started well today so let's monitor his performance.
Hassan ? I think we'll have to drop him unless he turns things around. He's crap now.
Wahab ? Yes, too old. Not a long term option
Hasnain ? Undecided. Let's decide on the world cup performance
Shaheen ? No, he showed some potential and should be persisted.

Haris
Shadab
Sarfraz
Hafeez
Wahab
Imad
Hassnain ( not ready yet)
Malik

We need a clear out. This team is not likeable and not fun to watch.
