There is still a lot of cricket to play between now and the World Cup - however - (baring injuries) which Pakistan players do you think have already booked their place for the World Cup?
You can either post your preferred CWC2019 squad, however, what this thread is primarily for is - regardless of what you would like to see - who do you think has already booked their place in the squad (e.g. they have performed well recently, the management backs them etc.)
For me - in no particular order - the players who probably already have their names down on Inzi's CWC selection sheet are:
1. Imam ul Haq - I think his performance in the ODI series vs SA has booked his place for the CWC2019
2. Fakhar Zaman - I think Micky is a fan of his and he adds an extra dynamic at the top of our batting order
3. Babar Azam - He's done enough in limited over cricket over the past few years to guarantee his place in the squad
4. Shadab Khan - I cant see any other spin bowling option threatening Shadab's spot - specially the bonus he gives with the bat
5. Mohammad Amir - I think the management have ear-marked Amir as a SENA specialist and it's highly unlikely that he will be getting dropped from the CWC squad
6. Shoaib Malik - Senior player who the management back and has performed pretty well in recent times. Lets be serious - he ain't getting dropped
7. Mohammad Hafeez - Senior player who the management back and has performed pretty well in recent times. Lets be serious - he ain't getting dropped
I feel Hassan Ali has all but booked his place in the squad, however, there is a slim chance that it could change depending on how Shinwari, Shaheen, Junaid and even Faheem perform between now and the WC & also how many pace bowlers we include in the squad.
Another question mark at the moment is Sarfraz, however, I would be extremely shocked if he doesn't make it to the squad. The question is though - if he does get removed from the captaincy, does he retain his space in the team as a wicket keeper/batsmen or is that where Rizwan comes in?
Where do Asif Ali & Hussain Talat slot into all of this?
Realistically speaking - I think the squad we saw in the SA ODI's is pretty much the same squad we will see in England this summer. However, I think there are still a few players who can still lose their spots if they take their foot off the gas and do not perform in the ODIs vs Aus and Eng in the next few months.
