Look at it this way:
Do you want pakistan to win this match and give you false reassurance or do you want them to go crashing out and maybe it will mean that our cricket rebuilds from scratch??
I'd rather take the latter option. If pak make it to the semis (it'll be a fluke) then that means sarfaraz will be secure and I can't be asked to see him for the next 4 years. We might as well get knocked out now and then rebuild.

Rebuilding will never happen, We are re-building since 2003.

Lets see some more votes for this poll.

Huge defeat on the cards for Pakistan. I don’t expect Pakistan to win a single match this WC.

So the resident wrist-slitters, please line up for phainti....

I’ll raise that. England are going to have a bad day and lose one of their group games and it could easily be this one. Pakistan are unpredictable.

Called it.

Still think England will make the semi-finals, as today they badly underperformed in most areas (and were extremely awful in some) - yet the margin of defeat was a mere 14 runs.

But enough about England. This day belongs to Pakistan. Congratulations to them for a great “cup final” performance wherein they outplayed England in all departments: the Cornered Tigers are now back in with a chance of winning this World Cup.

Chokli you said I was delusional coz I thought pak had a chance.
What now??

It is not a do or die game for England. ONly in such scenario you can catch them off guard as they show stage fright. But this is a regular league phase. Don't keep your hopes high.

Yeah if England team forgets to wake up and make their way to stadium.

No we can't.

Can't beat even afghanistan much less England.

Humble pie on the house for the 49 who voted no. :)

We have played England enough times in the previous series to spring a surprise on them.

If any team has faced England multiple times recently(arguably one of the top contenders), it is this Pakistani team and having seen the trend of the English team over the years in world cups and big tournaments.

The law of averages says that if you play a team a certain number of times, chances are you will win one game against them in a series of 4 or 5 matches.

We lost 4 games against England, but came close a couple of times to beating them.

We also did something similar in the champions trophy, despite comprehensively losing a bilateral series against England in 2016 where we lost 4-1 against them.

I know it is a cliche' stating Pakistan is an unpredictable team, we also know that England in world tournaments collectively collapse and the sum of their potential talent goes down as the pressure on them increases.

I called it on 31st May. I made a thread and was surprised by this thread taken down but thought maybe it was because of the negativity of losing the game against the WI. I genuinely believed it because of the law of averages.
Eventually there comes a bad day usually Englands comes in during the WCs

I still feel England lost the game than Pakistan winning it. They were 4 down for a 100 and there is collective English collapse in the first 20 that cost them the game. Root and Buttler were excellent but you cant blame them.

Chokli you said I was delusional coz I thought pak had a chance.
What now??

What I said was true. :91: You were deluded.

.... We need the delusion to win the cup.

Not exactly humble pie. I put my hands up but Pakistan won England lost and I voted against. This is probably the first time I have barely any faith in us doing well in a major tournament.

We have a slug as an opener holding Fakhar behind.
We have an overweight captain who has lost his aggression.
We do not utilise out players well.
Our bowlers are conceding 330+ runs almost constantly now.

We lack a serious finisher at the bottom.
We have pace bowler who may take wickets but also gives away 90 odd runs.

We got dished out for 105 against a team we always did well with. And today even posting 349 we won by just 14 runs!

Remember this was after a 11-0 losing streak too and a team that lost to Afghanistan warm or yes but still.

So no humble Pie, we also dropped a few catches and fielded poorly too.

A win is a win so well done, lets hope this boosts confidence and momentum for this team to do well from here on in

Incredible match.

After Pakistan posted 348, I thought they were 30-40 runs short of a good total.

Even after they were 118-4, I still thought England would win.

Especially after Root and Buttler's centuries, I thought it was game over for Pakistan

Then with 25 to win off the last over, I still was expecting a miracle comeback from England

Didn't let up until they needed 19 from the last ball.

My MoM of that game was Shadab, but it was stolen by MoHa :)

In that WC, ENG's batting was dominated by by Roy - he failed against PAK & didn't play against SRL, Poms lost both games :( It was Shadab who took Roy out initially, then he made the crucial breakthrough (Root) after 125+ partnership. I was watching the game on Monday morning at office with few others (deshi), and called that if Shadab doesn't take a wicket this over (his 8th, I believe), Poms will win the game - he obliged. Also, those few blows in last over (10 of 4), was what made the ultimate difference and he fielded brilliantly as well.
