Afghanistan and South Africa will qualify from the other group and India and Pakistan from our group.
Semi's would be Ind vs Afg and Pak vs SA
Final - Ind vs Pak with India avenging their 2017 loss.

Thread is about the Champions trophy. Not about Bangladesh's membership....

Do not discuss irrelevant stuff here

My only wish and pray is that India doesn't qualify for Final. So that Pakistanis can watch the Final at home in Lahore

2 months back I would have never said this abut cant believe I am saying this now - Ind is the fave to win inspite of the 4 washed up senior leeches. Wow, I just said that. For the spin friendly slow Dubai conditions , Ind picked a good tem. Aus would have been the fave but they have 6 players out from the 2023 WC team - Cummins, H'wood, Starc, Stoinis, Marsh and Warner. It will be Head or bust for them. Still Aus cant be written off in any ICC event. And shockingly, NZ looks to be the most balanced side. I am surprised folks here believe Pak is the fave or has a very good chance to win. will have to be one heck of an event for them if they have to win it. Dark horse for me is actually Eng. Lets see how it goes !!(y)

Shikhar Dhawan predicts Champions Trophy 2025 winner

Indian batting great Shikhar Dhawan revealed who he thinks will win Champions Trophy 2025 and which bowler could break out.

2013 Champions Trophy hero Shikhar Dhawan knows what it takes to claim one of ICC's most prized pieces of silverware. And the former batting sensation believes this current India side has what it takes to deliver the proud cricketing nation their first Champions Trophy since their breakthrough win 12 years ago.

Shikhar, who scored 17 ODI tons to go with 39 fifties between 2010 and 2022, believes there's enough firepower in the Indian ranks to cover the absence of key bowling contributor Jasprit Bumrah, who will miss the tournament with a back injury.

"I can’t look past India. I am quite confident," he said.

"They have a solid team and played very well against England in their recent ODI series. The obvious concern is that they will miss Jasprit Bumrah. There is no doubt he will be a big absence and I think they will feel it very strongly.

"For me, he is the best bowler in the world, and his accuracy is hard to replicate. He is also a very calm character and that is crucial in a huge ICC event like this."

Without Jasprit, India will need other pace bowlers to stand up. And Dhawan likes what he sees from emerging 23-year-old right-armer Harshit Rana.

Harshit has played just three ODIs, all this year. His best figures came in his debut, taking 3/53 against England in Nagpur. Across India's 3-0 series win over England, he took six wickets, at an average of 24.33, bowling at under runs seven per over.

"Harshit Rana has come into the side and I think that is really exciting – keep an eye on him, I think he could have a breakout tournament.

"I like his attitude. He is a go-getter and not afraid of anything. He accepts challenges and we have seen from the England series that he is in form. I am sure he will look to seize this opportunity and, if he does, he could provide a real x-factor for India."

"There are a lot of reasons to be optimistic for India. They have a very balanced side, especially with the bat, with a nice blend of experience and youth."

Dhawan finished as the overall leading run-scorer in both Champions Trophy tournaments he played in – 363 runs in 2013 and then 338 runs in 2017.

He credited the 2013 event as his breakout tournament, after scoring a maiden ODI ton in India's opening game against South Africa.

"Winning in 2013 was a great achievement and undoubtedly one of the biggest of my career," he said.

"I scored a century in the first game against South Africa and it was a huge relief because it was my comeback match in ODI cricket."

"I can still feel what it was like to open up my arms after I scored that century. It was like I was telling the world that I had arrived – and it was one of the most important moments in my career.

"Scoring big runs at the start of a tournament gives a player so much confidence that carries through and I just kept on scoring runs after that. My self-belief went up and I knew I belonged on that stage. It was a great feeling and my life changed."

India batted first in the Final against England, before successfully defending 129/7 to win by just five runs in a nail-biter at Birmingham, inside enemy territory.

"I still remember my hands were getting sweaty from the pressure – but then Ishant Sharma came on and took two wickets and the whole game shifted towards us.

"Good teams do that – they keep their emotions in check, their body language stable and find a way to win. It’s what teams will need to do in Pakistan."

It is now raining in Dubai and forecast of rain on thursday as well.

If Bangladesh can escape with 1-1 draw courtesy rain, the path ahead may be tough for India

Not enough for washout. So no worry but Little bit rain is not good for our spinners . That's the main worry.

We should choose the playing eleven according to the conditions .

:kp

@Nikhil_cric what's if the some Drizzle fall around the Start of the game but no rain after start of the play ,will spinners get the grip or turn? I think so and There will be no Chance of few either due to drizzle at the Start of the game.

Depends. If its raining beforehand and pitch is covered , it might be good for seamers

At most 19% chance of Rain so not an issue
What was the rain prediction for today.

According to Vikrant and Nikhil ,who are in the Dubai ,rain( Drizzling) was continuosly falling From 9AM to 6PM ( Dubai Time )

If the match had happened today it would have been a washout.

:kp

Yes it's good for Pacers but what about spinners. I'm more curious to know about spinners roles.

I think Dubai wicket helps pacers more than spinners anyway, regardless of rain etc. Even ILT20 stats show that pacers have done better.

Think we've made a big blunder by picking 5 spinners. Needed an extra fast bowler or 2.

Only Srilankan pitches they use these days for ODIs require this kind of attack.

I don't care who win it as long as India don't win it.

:qdkcheeky
Thank you! You don’t realize it but you are singularly responsible for some good results for India. Just do us one more favor, just wish for the other team to win versus India before the match, I might even send you a gift!

Triggered by Ban LOL ! No team in the CT is scared of Ban. Infact all of them want to hammer Ban and get a NRR boost that will help them if theres a 3 way tie Ban ecluded of course.
Tbh, knowing Pakistan it's a possibility that they might lose to Bangladesh 🤣🤣.

Kiwis have been coming after a statement win in the tri-series against Pakistan and Saffers.

They are looking in fine touch. Cannot underestimate them.

Who is The underestimate them ? NZ is red-hot favourite to win The champion trophy.

Bro Kiwis look like a well oiled unit. Ain’t no way they’re not making the semis now after this win.

India is on top after beating Bangladesh

Typical.

An ICC event. Bharat starts with a bang.

Pakistanis go crazy, hail Bharat, hail Bharatiya cricket, Bharatiya players

Bharat become red hot favorite

Bharat loses a semi final or final lol

One of NZ or Aus. Ind hv absolutely no chance coz they are the only team in this tournament who play with a specialist nightwatchman at no.3.

I feel that we are not the favorites in this tournament. I expected that we would beat Pakistan, but our team have many weaknesses. We are nowhere near the level of the NZ and AUS, particularly in our pace bowling. Shami has lost his rhythm and will likely be exposed against NZ/AUS, and our batting against spin in the middle overs is a big concern against these teams as they have quality spinners.
I have a feeling that we will be eliminated in the semifinals, although I hope I am proven wrong.

Yes this team doesn't look like a championship winning team has many flaws , having said that in 2023 the team looked unbeatable yet lost in final of world cup.. Anything can happen..

India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals, while hosts Pakistan are out of the tournament.

I hope we play Aussies first in semi final and get it done with. The deeper the Aussies go to the tournament knockouts the more dangerous they become. Best time to see the Aussies off is in QF, SF matches

Two best teams play 5 matches
Four best teams play 4 matches
8 best teams play 3 matches

Basically they play 1 or 2 extra match. CT hogaya. What a tournament.

One of Aus or Ind. Aus chase was a beast against Eng. Wow , what a game. Ind needs to be at their absolute best to beat Aus. But the Dubai tracks will get lower and slower as CT goes on . Will be an interesting few games now !(y)

So far Australia is the hot favourites to win this trophy. After they have beaten England chasing a mammoth total they have sent a strong message.

They are the current holders of WTC and ODI WC. If they win CT too, they can have 3 titles at the same time.

Reminds me of Kurt Angle winning all the TNA titles at once:

NZ are hot favorites. We are not favorites with this pace unit. Possibly the worst pace unit with handicapped SHami. Pandya is not your 3rd seamer.

If this was in Pak, yes. But I think in Dubai it evens out with the low slow tracks and Ind have picked 5 spinners. Also, if NZ faces Aus in SF, I think they will lose due to the mental block they have. Will be interesting games though !

Okay I will be here
Sorry, I am late or may be early. What was the result on 23rd Feb 2025. Is PAK lifting the trophy on 9th March 2025. You asked us to meet you on 9th March to realize that PAK is lifting cup on that day. Sorry, I am little early.

Yeah congratulations to you for winning

If NZ and India both go to final, NZ's travel schedule would look like this --> Rawalpindi > Dubai > Lahore > Dubai.

Simply insane. I don't know how NZ agreed to this. Complete farce. :inti

Rain Delays Australia vs South Africa Clash in Champions Trophy 2025

The highly anticipated Group B encounter between Australia and South Africa at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, February 25, has been delayed due to rain. If the match is abandoned, it could significantly impact the group standings and open up various qualification possibilities.

Current Group B Standings

  • South Africa secured a dominant 107-run victory over Afghanistan in their opening match.
  • Australia started their campaign with a five-wicket win against England.

Potential Outcomes If the Match Is Washed Out

  1. Straightforward Progression With Wins
    • If the match is abandoned and both teams receive a point, South Africa and Australia will qualify for the semi-finals if they win their remaining fixtures.
  2. South Africa Wins vs England, Australia Loses vs Afghanistan
    • A South Africa victory over England would guarantee their place in the semis.
    • If Australia loses to Afghanistan, the outcome of England vs Afghanistan on February 26 will be crucial.
    • Should England win, they would reach two points, and if they lose to South Africa on March 1, Australia could advance even with just three points.
  3. Australia Wins vs Afghanistan, South Africa Loses vs England
    • An Australian win over Afghanistan combined with a South Africa defeat to England would ensure Australia’s qualification.
    • South Africa, stuck at three points, could still advance depending on Afghanistan’s result against England.
    • If Afghanistan wins, both England and Afghanistan would finish with two points each, confirming South Africa’s place in the semis.
  4. Both Australia and South Africa Lose Their Final Matches
    • If both teams suffer defeats, the winner of the England vs Afghanistan match will qualify.
    • The second semi-final spot will be determined by net run rate between Australia and South Africa.

My power ranking for now :-

1. Australia
2. New Zealand
3. South Africa
4. Bharat
5. Britanistan

Persistent rain force the abandonment of the group stage match between Australia and South Africa in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Heavy rain in Rawalpindi caused a washout, with no balls bowled and both teams sharing one point each.

The much-anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash between South Africa and Australia in Rawalpindi was abandoned due to persistent rain. With no reserve day in the group stage, both teams received a point each, making the Group B qualification battle even more intense.

Group B Standings Update

  • South Africa leads with three points, while Australia sits second with the same tally.
  • England and Afghanistan, placed third and fourth, face off in Lahore on February 26.
  • The loser of England vs Afghanistan will be eliminated from semi-final contention.

Semi-Final Qualification Scenarios

  • If South Africa and Australia win their final matches, they will advance.
  • Australia meets Afghanistan on February 28 in Lahore, while South Africa faces England on March 1 in Karachi.
  • A team winning both its remaining matches secures qualification.
  • If both South Africa and Australia lose, Net Run Rate (NRR) will decide the second semi-finalist.
Meanwhile, Group A is already settled, with India and New Zealand advancing, while Pakistan and Bangladesh are eliminated.

How the washout of Australia-South Africa impacts the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals race
With India and New Zealand having booked their place into the semi-finals from Group A, all eyes are now on Group B, with all four teams still in the fray.
The Australia vs South Africa game at the Champions Trophy was abandoned without a ball being bowled, as a result of which the two teams split points in Group B.
The Proteas and the Aussies both have three points in their bank, with the former still on top of the points table owing to stronger NRR.
Here's what the aforementioned scenario means for the qualification chances of each of the four teams in the group:
South Africa
The Proteas will be the best suited to progress with one game in hand. A 107-run thumping win over Afghanistan boosted their NRR to +2.140. If South Africa seize a win against England in their final game, they will be through to the semis.
Even if they lose the game against England, South Africa can still progress if England don't finish with two wins from their remaining two games.
Australia
The two-time Champions Trophy winners will also have their fate in their own hands. A win against Afghanistan in their final fixture will be enough for Australia to progress through to the semi-finals.
A defeat in their third game to Afghanistan will mean that Australia will have to rely on South Africa to beat England for progressing.
England
The road ahead for Jos Buttler and Co is that of a knockout tournament. Having lost their opening game against Australia, England will need to win both of their remaining games to have a shot at qualification.
The fate of all four teams in the group will hinge upon England's game against Afghanistan on Wednesday. If both Australia and South Africa lose their final group stage fixtures, the winner between England and Afghanistan will progress through to the semis.
Afghanistan
A big loss at the hands of the Proteas put Afghanistan at the bottom of Group B. Facing England and Australia in their final two fixtures, the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side will have to get the better of the two heavyweights to stand a chance at qualification
What this means is that each upcoming game in Group B of the Champions Trophy is potentially a knockout contest.
Every qualification scenario from Group B

I kinda want an aus vs sa final. Will be poetic and a prelude to WTC final

Aus stands in the way of IND. Aus(+NZ) has been smashing IND in some super important matches since 2015.

India easily if they drop Rohit kohli and Kl rahul

I just only trust sweep shots opinion hey

I cannot believe they brought back KL Rahul. India won their first tournament moment they dropped this mental midget KL Rahul. Now he is back again without really doing anything

If Afg could play on Dubai wkt and bat first, they could potentially roll any of Aus/Ind/NZ

Unfortunately they will play Aus at Lahore and likely lose

Australia and INdia have bright chances atm but you cannot rule out Kiwis here. They have been on a roll here but they and South Africa choke at important moments so... Let's see

Kiwis are dangerous yes they play spin really really well

NZ have shown that they can defend par on Pak wkts.

Aus have shown ability to chase par on Pak wkts

SA have shown ability to score par plus targets

India haven't had a par game till now. Not because their bowling is amazing, but rather because of underwhelming opposition.
