Which team will win the Pakistan vs West Indies Cricket World Cup Match on May 31?

Honestly we should win easily.We are not that unpredictable now as our batting is consistently performing and bowling will come good.WI will be choked by spin and find difficult to score.
 
Pakistan if their spinners perform nice enough. West Indies batting lineup is very strong & They have good all rounders + Pace bowlers. the only thing they really suck at are the spinners.
 
We are slight favorites at this point but it is imperative we bowl first and chase.

Otherwise - we may end up misreading the pitch and posting a sub-par score
 
This should be walk in the park for us. WI pacers are all spray guns, no quality spinners. Then their batsmen cant deal with any sort of spin. Even immad can destroy them alone.
 
Pakistan is going to win this game. The major positive for West Indies though is that Pakistan do not have any great spinners like they used to have and the pacers aren't flash either. If they bat first and score 300+, I feel WI have enough in their bowling to trouble Pakistan. Having said that Pakistan are still favourites to win this one.
 
Its at Trent bridge. Depends on who bats first. If Windies win the toss and bat first, they would be favourites .
 
Pakistan.

Need to play all 3 of Shadab, Imad and M Hafeez against them and they will surely collapse in the middle overs.

Our batting is good enough to post a 300-350 total or chase it. Will take a big effort from number of their batsmen to beat us, bowling wise they are pretty ordinary in both departments.

Looking forward to a epic player battle between their batsmen and our bowlers.

After a loss to Afghanistan how are our chances looking now?

11. Shaheen Shah Afridi or M Amir (depending on their performances against Bangladesh)

Windies are good against Pace, I would pick Amir ahead of Afridi. Amir is a clever bowler, Afridi whereas against Afghanistan looked like a bowling machine in the nets.
 
I think Pakistan. We have dominated WI in recent times.
 
Windies have strike force right through their line up. Also has some technically good players like Hope. On a flat pitch they will outgun most teams

20 votes for Windies

Anything is possible with these 2 teams.

The key for me is what Pakistan can do with the new ball. If Windies get off to a flyer then they can bat Pakistan out of the game in the first 10-15 overs.
 
I'm still hopeful our bowlers come out of this bad run of form and start producing the goods. Once our bowling attack starts to regain its mojo, we will cause a few problems to any team in this WC.

We have proven performers in our bowling attack. They don't become rubbish overnight. Bus thori ghairat jaagni hai larkon ki :sarf2
 
On these pitches,teams need to bat out first few overs and then accelerate in middle and death..spinners will be crucial to stem runs in middle..so strong batting teams will have advantage..

Everything depends on Hope. Shai Diego Hope is WI battter who holds the key as stabilising WI innings while hitters crush hopes of opposition players :))

West Indies can also bat Pakistan out of the game in the last 10 overs. The exact same thing happened in the 2015 world cup. Russell just hit 54 in 25 balls and Holder 47 in 32 against New Zealand.
 
This is definitely a more important game than the one against eng. No one is expecting us to win that and we can cover that by beating nz/sa/aus. But if we lose this then we'll have to beat eng if we are to stay in the race for the semis.
 
The way the bowling is performing, this could be horrible for Pakistan. It’s time that the bowlers perform.

I don't know what is the average score Pakistan are aiming for batting first.

But if it's the customary 290 to 320 runs, they will lose.

Need to get at least 330 plus batting first.

If they are chasing, I doubt they can chase anything over 330.
 
Windies start as favourites considering they have a marginally better record against top teams in the last two years and the fact that these conditions should suit their explosive lineup more than it would Pakistan . If Pakistan bat first or if the pitch offers something for seamers/spinners then Pakistan have a decent chance. Gonna be a cracker . :)
 
Pakistan usually don't start with a win and WI are in a good form. Should be a close game but WI will take it I think.

Very true but I think if West Indies chase they chase whatever Pakistan put up that’s why pakistan should look to chase no matter what windies put up windies attack is extremely weak
 
I think this is the only game that can go either way for Pakistan. Both teams are unpredictable bit of luck, and players mood will decide the game.

Based on last matches I will give West Indies the edge.
 
There are lot many similarities between 1992 & 2019 WCs - one of them is both WIN - PAK started the tournament against each other’s and that game was also 2nd game of that tournament.

...... we know what happened in that game and later in the tournament (& many years later in PAK politics).

History can repeat itself....

If PAK’s constitution changes to presidential form, he’ll get each and every vote from greater Karachi ... by 2050, the way world population is urbanising, greater Karachi might host 1/3rd of PAK’s population- why not? He won the 2017 CT by his own hand (& mouth) alone!!!!

I know most of you all are joking but if anyone is serious about Sarfraz becoming a pm of Pakistan, i hope you realize that imran khan and Sarfraz have two completely different personalities. Even if Sarfraz wins us the WC, there’s no way he will lead Pakistan like Imran Khan.

May not be PM, but Sarfraz can definitely be an MP or even Minister. He is extremely popular, has the money to start political career, and indeed he has leadership quality. Might not indulge into it, but Sarfraz, Hafeez, Malik from this bunch can definitely try their luck in politics - would do better than many as well.
 
Scared about the game today.

Anyone else feeling really nervous, Im excited as well but mainly feel really scared for the game and the campaign as a whole. Going to be some vedy nervous 5 hours these.

He's popular in Karachi only, and the reason is that there isn't any other better player from Karachi in this team .Had there been a player of Miandad/Mohd brothers in this team, people wouldn't even talk about Sarfraz.
But i do agree that he can be a great politician, his yelling and shouting will work great in political rallies.

Feel like this every game in every campaign. Never get a good night's sleep the night before. We'll be fine today In Sha Allah...Pak is going to the semis, I have good vibes alhamdulillah

Yes its only a game and one game, but if we lose it we are almost definetly out of the wc. The remaining games will just be going through the motions. I am nervous too, couldnt sleep and when i did, i woke up only after a couple of hours. Been awake since 3 am bst, just want this game to hurry upand start.
 
Looks like the rain will stay away and we should get a full match. The thing most likely to ruin this now is if the team batting first folds for 150 and there is no contest after that. Both of these teams are well capable of it. But if they both play to their potential this should be a great game.

Im not looking for a contest. I just want pak to win. I will be overjoyed if WI play poorly and lose. I will be devastated if pak play poorly and lose.
 
I am getting the feeling that Pakistan wil won today's match easily... Imad Wasim will get both West Indies openers...
 
On paper, RCB always looks the strongest side of IPL. Just that cricket is played in field, not on paper.

It's a long tournament. Stubborn, arrogant characters will be key performers. No space for soft hearted 'talent'. In that regard,PCT bowling attack has perfect mixture of arrogance and stubbornness.

Relax everyone, WI 190/10.

I think Pakistan are most used to conditions and motivation should be high

Before the match squad was announced, I thought Pakistan but now I think WI.
