World class? Ishant Sharma? What are you smoking, pal? Would you pick Ishant over any of the following names?
1) Steyn
2) Rabada
3) Philander
4) Anderson
5) Broad
6) Hazlewood
7) Starc
8) Boult
9) Southee
10) Amir
11) Hasan
12) Woakes
13) Cummins
14) Bumrah
15) Henry
16) Shami
You are right about one thing; Ishant is at his peak and despite that, he barely cracks into the top 20 pace bowlers in the world today. You would be foolish to think he cracks into a top ten pace bowlers' list that does not have the word 'worst' in its title.
Zaheer Khan has retired and his average is still better than Ishant's. By the time the latter hangs up his insignificant shoes, his average would be even higher. This is despite playing more matches outside Asia than most Asian pacers.
Please do not assume that most cricket followers are as ignorant about the great Fazal Mehmood as you. He is the father of Pakistani pace bowling and an absolute champion bowler. The comparison with Bradman was with regards to his comparatively low number of matches. However, he averaged under 25 and was a proper fast bowler and a superstar; something Ishant will never be.
I would not pick Ishant in any cricket team (does he even find a place in his domestic T20 league these days, lol?) but I would definitely consider picking Malinga, Gul and Javed in my ODI and/or T20 teams. This makes them more respected bowlers than Ishant Sharma. Add Sarfaraz Nawaz to the list; the originater of reverse swing and yet another bowler who was better at his craft than one of the most mediocre Sharmas to come out of India. Now please, don't make me bash Ishant any more. I feel bad.
