In your opinion, which available players are the must-haves that franchises should be looking to sign for PSL 4?

Lahore Qalandars need a lot of players such as Haris Sohail and some good overseas players.

Lahore Qalandars should pick the players below

AB Divilliers (Platinum first pick)
Hafeez/Smith (Captain - Platinum second pick)
Sam Billings (WK - Diamond first round)
DJ Bravo/Dan Christian (all-rounder - Diamond second round and if bravo relegated and still available)
Haris Suhail (first Gold pick)

I think first pick should be Hafeez as he is an more crucial pick then the others for lahore

Corey Anderson
Ab de villiers
steve smith
dan christan
Ben cutting
kierron Pollard
Rashid khan
Dwayne bravo

These players are must for this years psl to be succesful

I wish some team buy Michael Killinger, very good player in a Gold category!

And if i wanted to take a risk on an unfamous T20 quantity it would be Sam Curran of England

Hmmm LQ should pick them ^ Baki sari teams chanay kha rhi hongi na.

Michael Kllinger is a match winner. He could be the Luke ronchi of this year’s PSL. Hope PZ picks him. They need his solidity and flexibility in the batting department.

Contrary to common believe, ABDv won't win you tournaments. May be An odd league match and that's it. Secondly, it becomes difficult to adjust the elephant in an unsettled room, just like what happened to B.Mac vs Devcich last year.

We can calculate trends.
1=Most teams will ignore foreign bowlers, particularly pacers for UAE pitches obviously.
2= Foreign batsmen are more in demand when compared to foreign bowlers.

This means, Mostly it will be Pak pacers bowling in powerplays and we know how good are our openers against anything called Pace.

3= majority of Pak batsmen are comfortable in spin overs and majority of foreign batsmen are uncomfortable in spin overs. Usually from over 7-14.

4=So whoever foreign batsman a team is going to pick, it better be An opener or #3.
( A method effectively used by IU last year).

If I were a LQ fan, I won't be happy if LQ pick ABDv. But Of course there is logic and then there is Aqib Javed.

In comparison, Sam Billings is actually a way better pick for PSL in UAE.

I am interested in Pakistani youngsters so for me

Nasir Nawaz
Zeeshan Malik
Mohammad Hasnain
Naseem Shah

and these should get maximum games too

Irfan (leegie)
Sohail Akhtar
Saud Shakeel
Zafar Gohar
Ammad Butt

Well Watson and Ronchi won their teams many matches with a lone hand last season. Baz just lost his post 2015 wc form and he is a fail in IPL and Big bash too. Good that LQ parted ways with him, he cant play quality spin. Lahore has last last season due to poor decisions of Aqib javed in draft and on match day. Last season Aaqib selected a team with a non existent lower middle order and paid the price in every match. I have a long list of Aaqib brain fade decisions other wise Lahore could have won and on top they just unlucky that their platinum players Lynn and Mathews got injurred just before the tournament and there was no good players left in replacement draft, LQ ended up getting Ramdin and Abbot as their replacements.

By saying this what i mean is that ABD is a match winner and could win 2/3 matches out of 7 he is playing on his own. ABD, Hafeez, Billings, Haris Suhail and Dan Christan/Cutting combo could make up a decent squad which could win matches. The only thing is whether Aaqib is going to repeat the silly mistakes again or learn from history!!

Kamran Ghulam is another player that could be a great pick with his all round abilities.
Also, Is Haris Rauf part of the draft?

There are a few players in the silver category that are worth mentioning.
1) Laurie Evans- was a success at the APL
2) Imrul Kyes- a decent opener of a franchise is looking for one
3) Harry Brooks- a bright prospect and a long term investment
4) Chris Rushworth- if you can’t have Mark Wood then he is the next best thing
5) Mehdi Hassan- a utility player for any PSL side
6) Roston Chase- think he’ll come good against the spinners in UAE
7) Dan Lawrence- my liking for him is slightly irrational but I love his power hitting.

Brendon MCullum played in the Afghanistan PRemier League and guess which position his team come on? Yep you guessed it right. Last position out of 5 teams. His strike rate for the tournament was below 100 and did not get many runs.

I would mention Hazratullah Zazai who scored with a very high strike rate at the APL. 16 ball 50 and got a hundred too. 6 ball 6 sixes. In international T20's against Ireland he scored 70+ in back to back games. He out scored Ronchi opening with him at the APL.

On these wickets he is very dangerous.

Mohammad Shahzad WK is another opener from Afghanistan in very good form. Again on these wickets he will perform much better then other bigger names.

I am not sure if Afghanistan will have any series in Feb. They have had series in previous PSL editions. If not Rashid, Nabi, Mujeeb, Hazratullah and Shahzad should be picked. Maybe 1-2 others as well. They will have no problems going to Pakistan either.

I chuckled on the last sentence. You might wanna check the ACB statement from the last time they were supposed to be visiting Pakistan. If I’m not wrong, it was something along the lines of them not playing cricket with a nation that sponsor terrorists.

I am not looking into politics, but purely the cricketing aspect of things.

The ones not willing to come to Pakistan should not be selected. Send a strong message outside. So no ABD and Smith

Don't you think the league will suffer big time if they take this approach? It would be more of an emotional decision.

They will be selected anyway. This forum lives in a delusional word where they think that franchises will turn down 2 superstars just because they don't want to come to Pakistan.

KP and Shane Watson were still played by Quetta Gladiators despite them having no intention of going to Pakistan.

I thought i saw somebody posted that Smith is a mediocre T20 player anyway and he will not be missed. That is just absolute rubbish. For one, Smith is a WC batsman and can be devastating. Another is, history of imported players show that, their worthiness was never a parameter. Heck, Smith is definitely an upgrade over the Ramdins, Delports n Co. Sluggish pitches also means that you need class batsmen.

The issue with that approach is that in the lure of a larger share of the pie, there will be no pie left at all. The worst thing the PCB can do right now is try to force every foreign player to visit Pakistan. Trying to persuade them is different from trying to compel those players to visit Pakistan.

PCB isnt forcing anybody, even in last final which was played in Pak every overseas player of Isb united and PZ played. Couple of players not coming out of 36 odd foreign players is not a big deal.

In your opinion, which available players are the must-haves that franchises should be looking to sign for PSL 4?
Yaseer hameed
Imran nazir
Abdul razzaq if he is fit
These 3 players are capable of playing t20s
Oh i forgot legend sohail tanveer

None of these players are good enough for PSL or any half-decent T20 league

I agree. Don’t get me wrong. But the thing is that Silver category doesn’t offer a lot of star power to the franchises. But it is the silver category that will be in the minds of most teams. Franchises will be picking most players from this category during the draft. The overall list is disappointing.

Asela Gunaratne is one good player

Sherfane Rutherford is the one that stands out for me in Silver. Good hitter and can bowl

It will, but what will the team's benefit from the matches being played in Pakistan, if they're not playing. Quetta had this already twice, playing an handicap team in Pakistan because their main four foreigners didn't travel to Pakistan. Atm Smith needs cricket more than cricket needs Smith, and ABD is retired anyways.

I think players pick their own category.

Just like Pakistan, it is his strongest suit but think a lesser category would have been more suitable. In this case, it seems brand Amir is the dominating factor.

Foreign:

-DickWella
-Colin Munro
-Shimron Hetmyer
-David Miller
-Jos Buttler

Pakistan:

-Nasir Nawaz
-Nauman Anwar
-Zeeshan Malik
-Mohammad Irfan (Leggy)
-Ahsan Ali

Jos Buttler hasn't made himself avaliable for the PSL.

Smith isn't a mediocre T20 batsmen. If he is mediocre what are players like Shan Masood,Asad Shafiq, and Ahmed Shehzad all 3 who are likely to play ?

Smith is a good addition to the PSL. Would rather see him in the PSL than TTFs.

PCB hasn't forced anyone to play in Pakistan.
