Who had greater impact for their teams - Sachin Tendulkar or Javed Miandad?

Dhoni actually has a poor World Cup record minus that final innings. There is a tendency among cricket fans to place too much importance on performance in the finals while ignoring the performance in the other matches. A batsman who is a failure in all world cup matches except one final would be termed as clutch, whereas another who performed in all world cup games minus the final would be termed a failure.

In football this doesn't happen. Di Maria doesn't get rated as a better player than Messi just because he scored the goal in the Copa America final.

.

So who is more selfish eh?

BTW, I am from same state as Dhoni...so I have no reason to be anti him. But Tendulkar is just a superior player and that too by a long margin

Sachin without a doubt.:srt

There are many instances which proves Sachin a greatest selfish cricketer. Probably this is also a World record for Sachin for being a Most Selfish Cricketer.

He was always married to Centuries (in both formats of the game) and his 100th century is a proof of the same…

100th Ton which finally came against Bangladesh in 2012 where he scored the century by taking 140 odd balls and was the main culprit for the loss.:))

He always got stuck and found it difficult to score after crossing 90. Psychology says it happens when you give too much importance to a personal milestone rather than team milestones.

More defensive approach during 90’s which has costed Team India in many instances.

Forget International match, in IPL 2011 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala he was batting on 99 at 19.5 overs. Instead, trying for a big shot he safely played for a single and completed his only IPL century and lost the game.:))) The fact is Mumbai lost only 2 wickets they could have played aggressively since they had big hitters like Symonds and Pollard to follow-up.

There is no need for any potion. Pakistan is the least talented batting nation ever. No team has produced fewer world class batsmen per capita.

In spite of having the second largest pool of players in the world (after India) and having a larger pool than all other cricket nations put together (excluding India), and the fact that cricket is by the far the most popular and played sport in the country, Pakistan has a very average batting legacy.

It is down to a combination of factors such as lack of talent, poor cricket culture, poor understanding of the game etc.

Miandad is the only Pakistani batsman who can be considered an all-time great - all other notable Pakistani did not have a big enough impact on the game; they are just national legends.

Even Miandad would barely get into the third XI of an all-time best team. It is a joke to compare him to Tendulkar who was several notches above him.

Babar is very good and he has the potential to become an all-time great player and surpass Miandad as Pakistan’s best ever batsman, but time is not on his side - he is 27-28 and has only 1 Test hundred outside Asia.

Unless he goes through a monstrous peak like Ponting from 2000 to 2006 or Kohli from 2015 to 2019, he has a very slim chance.

So in summary, you don’t need to be a fortune teller. You can safely bet a million dollars on the fact that Pakistan will never produce a bigger batsman than Tendulkar.

"Pakistan is the least talented batting nation ever. No team has produced fewer world class batsmen per capita. "

Past performance doesn't predict future performance.

You seem to worship India. India also had non world class batsmen until Sunil Gavaskar - so then you're saying per capita they had the least talented batsmen. Yet here we are 40 years later, and things have changed.

If you're arguing that per capita pakistan has produced fewer batsmen, then per capita pakistan has produced more bowlers than batsmen. I guess to you bowling is not important when using that line of logic.

Your logic is flawed and incomplete just from the first sentence...

i do not need to dissect the rest.

Unless you can predict the future, i would suggest you dont say nonsensical things.

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was a curse for India. The majority of his centuries both in Tests and ODI, were in draws and loses.

He may have helped the average Indian count to 100, but after Gandhi, he was the most famous Indian outside of Indian only because the white man took notice - hint hint.

Ask any Indian to name SRTs greatest innings then at best 2003 WC is a citation. Sad; indicment of a career spanning 22 years, just one inning of note vs Pakistan. 6 time failure at the WC.

Vinod Kambli was a better batsmen.

The cricketing world lost respect for SRT after the 90s fixing saga where Tendulkar claimed he didn't know anything despite living in the Indian changing room for 10 years.

Sachin proved one thing though - the longer you play the better the stats.

If past performances predicted future performances, kohli would not be a star, and srt would also be mental midget like previous Indian batsmen before him
