Haris Sohail is our 2nd best batsman. He has performed consistently for years, and won us two matches in this WC alone.

In the Australian chase, if Haris came in instead of Malik while we were in a strong position, we would have likely won that match. Its moments like these that decide semi-final berths vs. early exits.

Who will take the blame? Personally, I feel most of the blame goes to Sarfraz. His senior-this, experience-that and "baray bhai" mentality has cost us dearly, and this is unacceptable for a professional team representing Pakistan at the highest level. I used to be a Sarfraz supporter, but he should be stripped of the captaincy in all formats for this shocking decision. I have certainly lost a huge amount of respect for him.

They dropped Haris after that West Indies game. Haris could've made a huge difference.

Pakistani culture. There’s no other reason we cling to ‘seniority’

We would have won against australia handsdown. Against ind iam not sure it is 50 50.

Haris was made a scapegoat after the WI game where every batsman failed.

Apparently Sarfaraz wanted to play Malik and Asif Ali against the West Indies while Inzi insisted on Haris Sohail

That was criminal. Haris has scored 2 centuries against Aus coming into World Cup. I don’t know how can you drop Haris for filth like Asif and Malik

In fact Haris got out to a good ball

If you look at his entire career, haris only gets out to genuinely good balls in early part of his innings. He rarely makes a mistake until he reaches a substantial score like 40 or 50. Then his lack of fitness comes in but thats a different story.

At least vs India, think it was a fair enough call to play Malik and Hafeez. Malik for his great record vs India and Hafeez for his CT final knock.

Once the selectors picked Malik and Hafeez in the squad, it was always going to be difficult to not play them.

Not at all. Hafeez yes but Malik vs Haris wasn’t even a competition

There is no agenda here, Mickey Arthur and Sarfraz have a pattern of making poor decisions. Its no surprise that their team selection was muddled, even in CT 2017 we stumbled on a winning eleven.

Wrong.

Sarfaraz wanted Hasnain and Haris to play ahead of Malik and Shaheen/Hasan from game 3 onwards, but team management rejected it.

Inzi and Mickey have had some strange love for Malik. He was made the standby captain by these two when Sarfaraz got banned as well

Fall-guy Haris.

If Pakistan lose, they drop him and keep the 'seniors' in.

Poor policy.

My point is that once Malik and Hafeez were selected in the squad, the nature of subcontinental systems makes it hard to not play them. Haris came back only when there was such a huge public outcry, that replacing Malik was no longer going to be considered an issue.

Similar thing happened for India with Pant and Karthik coming in. They were brought in to protect Dhoni from the sentiment against him that was growing in momentum.

Inzi , Sarfraz, and Arthur. None of them have the guts to stand up to seniors.

Haris had the highest ODI average of any Pak batsman in the last two years, and he didnt play half the tournament.

Shaheen had double the wickets of any of our ODI bowlers in the last two years, and he also missed half the WC including some crucial matches.

Its these two players that have won us the last four matches in the WC.

Sarfraz needs to pay for costing us a semi final spot. I am furious.
