This will upset a few posters, but I thought Urooj Mumtaz was a welcome addition to the commentary box in the Pakistan Bangladesh T20 series this year.

She's clearly both a bright and driven person, as a trained, qualified and practising dentist who also captained her country and is now chief women's selector.

She made numerous 'obvious'
observations during that series, but as she gets more confidence, she'll be more assertive in her commentary, as she's clearly a strong personality. Remember, this is a person who dropped Sana Mir from the women's team.

Now, a lot of posters, including Saj noted her very shrieky PSL stint. I can't disagree with how she came across, but that's more reflective of the direction all the commentators got from the PSL producers to sound more 'excited'. Literally none of the commentary team came out of the PSL with an enhanced rep.

Put Urooj in a more sedate, measured format, I.e. international cricket, and she shows good promise. This again was confirmed when they moved her to the pundit's chair during the PSL, next to Grant Elliott and Zainab Abbas. Her calm analysis in the studio really shone there.

So whilst she is clearly far away from being the best Pakistani commentator right now, she has the work ethic and signs of being quite good.

Exactly. Excitement should be natural when it comes to commentary.

The way some of the PSL commentators were shouting and screaming made a mockery of the coverage and made it look rather cheap and fake.

Shan Masood and Azhar Ali are the future of Pakistan commentary.
Urooj and Sana - expect to see plenty more of them too, especially in women's cricket.
Rambo is getting on a touch now - he is 58.
Wasim Khan could be an outstanding commentator for Pakistan once he is done with his current role.
Owais Shah isn't bad - born in Karachi although played for England. He provides a degree of Pakistani representation too.

Shan would make a great commentator. Very articulate.
