I have been watching the Pakistan vs Afghanistan series and it dawned on me just how unlikeable Rahmanullah Gurbaz is with his detestable fake nice guy/fake tough guy attitude.

Seems like he suffers from the small man syndrome too with how he is always mouthing off at other players.

My question to you is who is the most unlikeable player in world cricket right now?

Is it Ashwin with his mankading and unsportsmanlike behaviour?

Is it Ben Stokes? We have a whole thread on him here about him being unlikeable.

What are your thoughts?

If he's not your favourite then he will be your most unlikeable!

Depends on what you consider unlikeable. Some players can be so good that opposition fans don't like them.

Personally don’t have any players that I dislike due to being so good… by unlikeable I mean as a person. A player you really really dislike regardless of their cricketing ability.

Maybe someone who cheats, unsportsmanlike, hate the way they look/talk etc etc

I actually hate Eoin Morgan for always being a coward about touring Pakistan

Glenn Maxwell too

Well in that case, Virat would be a player that fits the category you described in my opinion.

I wouldn't say I hate him but I definitely find him annoying.

Historically speaking Gambier and Sehwag would be contenders.

Definitely Gambhir. Very dislikable player irrespective of his cricketing ability.

In Pakistan cricket, I would have to say Iftikhar Ahmed. Basically a Misbah clone in every sense with added age fudging.

I might be in the minority here but for me Nabi is right up there. There’s something about him that doesn’t sit right with me.

Naveen ul Haq and Gurbaz too are obvious choices.

Outside the obvious Afghanis, I’d say say Jason Roy is very unlikeable. Always sulking.

From within PCT, hands down Iftikhar. Can’t stand the sight of him.

If these afghans don’t get put in their place soon, they will reach Bangla levels of cockiness (without the skill to show for it just like Bangladesh).

Must say I really hated Sarfraz back when he was stopping Rizwan and other youngsters from playing in the team. Really annoying behind the stumps too and pretty crude at times.

I think Bangladesh has moved past the cockiness. Whenever we’ve played against them in the recent years, the games have been played in the right spirit. They get along well with our players and their crowd never goes overboard either.

I think you are talking about the BD of 10 years ago, but gotta give them credit as they seem a lot more mature now.

How come? Personally Don’t mind him as one of the few Muslim Indian players…

Sometimes feel like he overdoes the aggressive attitude. Don't like his finger on mouth celebration.

Now that I think of Indian Muslim players, I also don't like Shami for his Karma comment and Irfan Pathan for his grace comment. Both were cheap over patriotic antics that don't suit current and ex players.

Yes the nagin era was bad.

In current Pakistani players, I just can't stand Hasan Ali, not so as a player, rather as a person .

I also never want to see or listen to Shoaib Akhtar , I loved him as a bowler, but I as an ex-Pakistan player ,whenever he opens his mouth , I feel embarrassed.

Misbah is my all time most unlikeable person , for me he was too selfish, never had Team's interest ahead of his personal interest , as player, captain and coach. Hope this won't trigger for and against Misbah debate here, we have had too many already.

I’ve heard from people who know/played against Nabi

They don’t really have a great opinion of him as a person

Can't stand Nabi. Not sure what his attitude was this series. Unfortunately, we gave them the opportunity to act cocky by losing. What gets me is this guy has played first class for Pakistan in the past.

KL Rahul in his final phase of acceptance that he is not gonna be the big thing in World cricket.

I did not know about him having played first class. That’s shocking. Given how much contempt he has in his attitude when we plays Pakistan.

He’s on his last legs though, don’t think we’ll be seeing much of him going forward.

So you like him because of his religion?

I view him as a brother as all believers are brothers So I will certainly prefer him to the other Indian cricketers… I generally get on very well with Muslim Indians in my personal life too compared to other types.

He’s the archetype ungrateful “bite the hand that feeds you” type. I find Rashid much more amicable and less arrogant despite being 3x the player Nabi ever was.

Why does him not reaching his potential make him unlikeable?

Because he got the backing and consistent run in a hope that his peak will start. And he fails in big matches too.

Jofra archer current players. Has such a terrible entitled attitude.

I remember when he put 10’s of millions of pounds, a hugely difficult to organise series and people’s lives at risk during covid, lied about it, got found out and then played the sympathy card while required to isolate in his luxury hotel room.

Not to mention his tweets and replies when rightfully criticised.

Hated the old Kohli before his marriage. He was totally crass with fake Australian attitude and agression. Now he's more toned down and don't mind him. However he used to get on my nerves with his antics.
Another player i don't like is Shoaib Akhtar. Great bowler but the way he bends over backwards for YouTube views made me detest him

Still hate Kohli. Gives the worst send offs and cant take it when its given back.

I wasn't too happy with Sangakkara in his playing days!

Ravi Ashwin personally. Great bowler, a legend, but can't stand his antics, the questionable action, the mankading

A Legend is going a bit far? Good spinner but certainly not a legend. Agree about his horrible character though

Can't argue with the OP.

He was trying to be friendly but in an aggressive and weird way which tge Pak players didn't seem to be too comfortable with.

If we get an Ihsanullah interview on PP, I hope we can advise him to try and instil some more aggression into his game like Shaheen/Haris so he is able to respond adequately to passive aggressive little men in future!

Of course it depends on one's definition of a legend. Indian legend for sure I'd say, easily one of their best ever spinners. Being top 10 in test wickets is also no small feat either. There's an argument for sure I'd say, and I say that as a big hater haha

Mohammad Rizwan.

Only if you are Indian, Karachi Mafia, a Sarfaraz Fan or Rana.

Nobody else dislikes the guy. One of the nicest people to ever come out of Pak cricket. Anyone that has met him will say that he's one of the kindest and most polite people they have had the privilege of meeting

Rizwan is not hated by Indians either.

The people who are not in my good books at the moment are Azam Khan, Moin Khan, Umar Akmal & Kamran Akmal.

I don’t need him to invite me to iftari

I need him to bat as if he’s going to score a 20 ball 50 from the word go. Not to set up purposely to score a 40 ball 50

Why? Definitely a pathetic player but not actually too unlikeable imo

His attitude towards fitness as a professional sportsman is what makes him so unlikeable for me. I’m sure as a person he’s otherwise probably pleasant

Haha. Fake piety, fake injuries, disappears in World Cups.

Yes the nagin era was bad.

Technically Sri Lankan players were the culprits on bringing the naggin in the game and they (BD) just continued. That whole Nihandas Trophy was entertaining from beginning to the end. lol

But on the thread topic, I dislike Sachithra Senanayake (personally). I don't like this guy's attitude or the facial expressions he does. Also, I used to dislike Jadeja for a long long time. This guy was in the team as a fielder??? Like bro, did not know how to bat or did not bowl properly till not to long ago.

Take Rizwan (and Babar out) of the WC squad, do you think you would have reached the T20 WC final? Say what you want about him, but he did a decent job. I don't think you guys have any backup player to do what he did consistently during the WC.

Also, the guy is genuinely nice, not fake nice. A good-hearted person.

As expected

Hes pakistans best keeper batter in the short format and the most humble guy in the team with no attitude so theres no reason to hate him at all None

I dont like some of the afghan players They still have thid fake attitude whenever they play pakistan like they have something to prove

Naveen and Gurbaz are two that come to mind immediately
