Surely anyone is better than Sarfraz. Forget about captaincy. Sarfraz doesn’t merit a spot in this team as a player
 
Graduate rohail nazir.... bring him up and start working on him for 2023.... forget rizwan, not worth it to waste time...
 
I’d say bring in a young dynamic keeper batsman and groom him

Where did i write harris not in team. Harris can bat at 5 as he can consolidate or take on the bowling. Hes a perfect number 5. Umar Akmal will come good. I can seem him do well especially if barbr or harris is captain.

Haris needs to bat in the top 4
 
Rizwan and he should bat at 4 in ODIs and T20s and at 7 in Tests.

if you want akmal back in, then why bother drop sarfraz to begin with.... 2 4 aur railu kattas bhi wapis lei aoo lagay haath... Rohail Nazir is going to be a future stud keeper/bat, he is doing wonders already at under 19 scene for a wk/bat, they need to work on him, rather than waste him at the sidelines at the expense of a rizwan or akmal or sarfraz (i was high on rizwan, but i think his boat has sailed and he never grabbed the bull by the horns whenever given a chance)...

That honestly works really well. Someone needs to tell the management. Babar can do really well in Odis as an opener

Not convinced by Rizwan either. He gets into awkward positions trying to score boundaries and loses his balance.

We already have at least two batsmen who can play his accumulator role in Imam and Babar. Maybe there's a role for him in Tests but not ODIs from what we've seen.

Rohail Nazir is the long term project but for the short term I'd like to see more of Umar Siddiq who seems to have a good domestic record.

Why fix something that isnt broken? Babar is fine at 3. Find another opener. 3 and 4 should be fixed for Haris and Babar for next 4 years in all formats of the game (maybe exclude Haris from t20i)

hhahahha u serious? its totally opposite,,, as a keeper, or an out fielder, Rizwan is OUSTANDING... miles miles miles ahead of anyone in pak ....

No he doesnt. He is a nothing cricketer. Do you wanna be disappointed in next world cup as well? Think what wicket keeper batsmen of other teams look like,their power game etc. And then look at Rizwan.
 
Gulraiz Sadaf or K Akmal or U akmal
Just kidding.Rohail Nazir looks like a good prospect and should be drafted in for T20's while as Rizwan for ODI.Sarfi can remain in tests
 
Has to be Mohammad Rizwan. Give him a go. Hes the fittest man in Pakistan and averages 50 at about strike rate of 89 in list A cricket.
Other options are ordinary like Umar Siddique.
 
Rizwan scores two tons vs Australia. I think he will be in after WC. Not much competition either.
 
Rizwan for now, maybe in 2 years time if Rizwan is doing poorly Rohail Nazir can replace him.

Rohail Nazir has a List A average in the 20s. Would need a whole of improvement in his batting to not play as a specialist keeper.

Yes, that is why I'm giving him time. He seems like a good prospect though, making runs for fun at U19 level. Also captaincy material in the future.
 
Rizwan should be given the first chance. After that I think posters have covered the other options. Sarfraz has been given enough time. Time to move on from him.

Lol but he is aggressive and doesn’t know when to stop eating or speaking and so is the right candidate to captain unpredictable cornered tigers.
 
We need 35 off 25 balls, Sarfaraz on the crease. Any sane person just simply cannot bet in favour of Sarfaraz getting us over the line.

Thats how bad Sarfaraz is. Enough said.

Lets give Rizwan or someone else a chance.

at 4 in place of harris? dont think thtz a good swap ... but then not sure if rizwan would do any good at 5 .. lacks power hitting ...

Umar Siddiq is one good keeper batsmen.. he is exceptionaly good timer ... loved his shots in psl

a bit cynical abt changing a players position when its working soo good ... not to say he cannot do it or not perform but its just tht funny feeling lol ... umar siddiq is timer ... he could be a good partner for Imam at the top .. meaning we can have another aggressive player in midfield .. Fakhar isnt getting his mojo and i would rest him for some time
 
Anyone but Sarfraz until he works on his fitness and game he shouldn't play for Pakistan can easily replace him with anyone

Rizwan for now. But Umair and Rohail should be groomed by giving them some games here and there. Umair for me has higher ceiling than Rohail.
 
Umar Siddique if they are looking for an attacking option at the top of the order, otherwise M Rizwan is a solid middle order bat.

Rohail Nazir is still young and can be groomed to take over after the 2023 world cup.

i think this sarfraz ahmed seems a good prospect. why not give him a chance.
 
I guess it should be Rizwan, unless there is someone younger and just as good waiting in the wings.
 
Options:
1. Sarfraz- He MUST stay in t20 since there is a WC coming and changing the captain of the team a year before would be a disaster similar to Afghanistan.
IMO Sarfraz is an excellent keeper and a good captain. However his batting is a burden to the squad which is why he should be replaced and PCB should look for a keeper batsman.
2. Rizwan- His problem is he cannot play beyond #4. He got serious lack of hitting ability. He scored 2 hundreds, why? Because he was played in the situation where Running Between The Wicket and hitting 4 occasionally is the most important thing. Haris has the similar role and I think Haris must play at #4 if not #3.

Umar Siddiq is the best option.... attacking opening batsmen and not a blind slogger...
perfect foil for imam

gives us flexibility to play Saud Shakil and/or Khushdil Shah at no5/6
 
Pakistan needs a fit keeper who can keep well and bat aggressively when needed. Sarfraz is too fat to be keeper.

Pakistan has plenty of time to try out new keepers before 2023 WC.

Needs a good 2020 to get his name into the selection committee
 
Well I would play the guy who scored 2 hundreds against Australia before WC.
