Who should be Pakistan's ODI captain after the 2015 World Cup?

PCB will send a wrong message by bringing in malik , it would be worse decision than younis khans. What has malik done in last 5 years in international cricket to deserve a comeback. By this logic even kamran akmal should be back in the team.

He failed everywhere and that matters. He couldn't score a 50 anywhere.

Unless you want to waste another year on a TTF ,better keep him away from the team.

First Decide the Brand of ODI cricket for Pak team and suggest Captain accordingly

There are many names in media reports for next ODI Captain but my question with my PPers is:

1) First decide and suggest what Brand of ODI cricket you want from Pakistani team? Do you want calmness and stability? Tactically Pro-active? Risk free and cautious or risky? You want your team to wait for other team to make mistakes and then grab the game or you want to attack first?

2) After selecting your brand of cricket, then suggest Captain accordingly. For example,Newzealand cannot play their current brand of ODI with Captain Ross Taylor so they replace with McCullum. The brand of cricket changes with Inzimam as Captain as compare to Wasim Akram?

Now, Azhar Ali can be a good captain but depend on brand? Sarfraz can be good captain of different brand? Sohaib Maqsood can be a good captain of his own brand (if your brand prefer a group of aggressive energetic group, then Sohaib may not be right choice).

the process will be long and hard but it if Bangaldesh can do it so can we

Really sorry to say this... and I know there are a lot of Misbah fans out there... but the truth is after 4 years... Misbah has lost us both ICC tournaments... ICC Champions trophy and ICC World Cup 2015... To put it in simple words for everyone to understand, he lost us when it mattered the most...

People say he brought a lot of calm to Pakistan cricket... Well being calm in the face of losing important events is no good...

I am glad he is no more a part of ODI cricket.... as far as I am concerned Misbah's ODI performance can be summed up as follows,

1. Lost us 2011 world cup semi-final against India
2. Led us to a first round elimination in 2013 ICC Champions trophy (we could not win a single match)
3. Led us to quarter final elimination in 2015 ICC World Cup
4. In four years, could not form / mould a settled batting unit

I don't understand why people keep harping on about his useless average and hail him as savior of Pakistan cricket...

I hope we can look forward now and quickly recover from the negativity and defensive attitude instilled by Misbah in the team.. and I certainly hope that PCB learns its lessons and plans properly for the next world cup... We do not need short term victories... we need a long term settled team that can be good enough for an ICC tournament...

Azhar Ali captained his side of unknowns like a champion to the final of the recently held Pentagular Cup.

Looked assured and aggressive, also was batting really well albeit a bit on the slow side. He needs to open and Shehzad needs to be dropped because Shehzad has zero rotation of strike and discipline issues.

It's a tough one. It should be Azhar Ali but he has not cemented his place. Which probably means that Malik would captain and have Azhar as VC

Azhar Ali is a good choice.

People need to stop looking at his SR and focus on his ability to play the new ball, leadership and brains.

Only the second batsman from PAK to average 40+ in ODIs.
Leadership experience and potential.
Solid technique against swing and pace.

Still too worried about SR? Good that you're not a selector. He can and WILL improve his SR if asked to.

Look at your team and tell me one man who has all of the above going for him. These are top priority things.

We nees to drop Shehzad and play Babar Azam/Amin/Sami as the second opener.

Fawad Alam. Should have arguably been captain this world cup, but isn't even playing.

Only youngish guy with a good international record and tons of experience in captaincy in domestic. No one else has that. Even Sarfaz who doesn't regularly captain in domestic I believe anyway, doesn't have a good ODI (or list A record), and tbh handing captaincy to a wicketkeeper is too much responsibility given he's still relatively inexperienced in internationals.

Sohaib Maqsood.

Man Malik can't even make the side based on his batting, let alone captain it.

I'm hoping against hope that Maqsood has a stellar performance in the remaining matches and they chose him as captain. Might even curtail his brain-fades once he is given responsibility.

I would go for Ahmed Shehzad.

He is guaranteed to play in all formats of the game and has aggressivenes that is required in the modern game. He is very young and should have many years ahead of him.

Azhar Ali will be a Misbah 2.0 and is not guaranteed a place in the ODI team anyway. Same goes for Sarfraz who has struggled in ODI's and I get the feeling the Umer Akmal is going to get dropped after the WC too.

Haris sohail could also be a good choice.
