Who should captain Pakistan for the Australia series?

If that happens who should replace him?

Definitely not Malik his form is disastrous and his captaincy has been very poor we should try someone young and new so that he can take over after the 2019 World Cup.

My pick is Fakhar Zaman. Why not try him as captain? Or maybe even go one step ahead and make Shadab captain?

Babar is our best bat and should NEVER be captain. Will be another Tendulkarish captain.

Imam Ul Haq is also a strong candidate Pakistan have a rich history of good captains from strong cricketing families.

Malik was superb in the 4th ODI against SA but since then for Pakistan and for MS his captaincy hasn't been great. He's not around for much longer either. If Sarfaraz is rested, I'd like to see the captaincy given to someone who has a genuine chance of captaining Pakistan in the future. Maybe someone like Imam-ul-Haq could be a good candidate, educated, good at english, seems he has a cool head on his shoulders.

Babar was a terrible captain in his under 19 days

It might also ruin his career like Malik in 2007

I'd say Imam for a number of reasons -

He is a lock in ODIs

He is young and gritty and knows how to fight for every inch

Looks to be respected among the side

Seems to have a good cricketing brain from what little I have heard in interviews

Is of a good age and not someone fading in the 30s

Imad Wasim - leads by example with his intent with the bat. He is a natural leader and has more social awareness than Sarfraz.

Tactically been impressed with his captaincy for KK as well.

In hindsight, can we even afford to rest Sarfaraz? Who will keep wickets? Mohammad Rizwan is garbage, we all thought he was breathing down Sarfaraz's neck but his recent performances at the higher level has shown he has not improved much from the last time he was in the Pakistan team.

Hafeez, Malik are too old, and don't prodigy any long or even medium term benefits

Fakhar, Haris, Faheem, Imad, Amir aren't even always a lock in the playing 11, and if they are, these guys are too inconsistent with their individual performances.

That leaves Shaheen, Imam, Hassan, Babar and Shadab.
Given the Shadab has some captaincy experience now, and also seems to have more of a captain's attitude, I would think he's the best candidate

Sarfraz is a terrible tactician.

Malik is ok but always looks so reluctant and a reluctant captain is pointless.
