We know that the Pakistan batting line-up is a fragile one and inconsistent one that has been labelled as cautious rather than attacking.

In order to be competitive at the World Cup they need one of their batsmen to lift the team and lead from the front and bat out of his skin.

Who do you believe will be the batsman to carry and lift the Pakistan batting unit at the World Cup?

Fakhar and Babar. If they don't fire then I can't see how we put up competitive totals.

The seniors Hafeez, Malik and Sarfraz are totally unreliable.

Babar and Haris are key. They will have to build the platform for Sarfaraz, Hafeez, Malik and Imad to score big

Fakhar and Babar.

Expect them to score 450+ runs each.

They will play an major role for our chances in the World Cup.

I think it's going to have to be a team effort. Apart from Babar and Haris Sohail's ability to get runs, no other batsman has the technique, the appetite, or the mental fortitude to perform consistently at this level. The question is, are those two good enough or decisive enough to score runs that will win games. The answer to that question at this moment in time is no.

Pakistan probably needs 6 wins to get through. Where are those 6 wins coming from? Lets remember this team has been horrendous at ODI Cricket since the Champions Trophy.

who do you think?! its got to be your no 3 and no 4 batsmen...Babar has to make the big runs! and then hopefully the others can bat around him. We need solid starts from the openers, doesnt need to be 8's an over from the get go in the search for making 300+ everytime but just a solid start that can let Babar play his shots freely will be great, and hopefully the middle order bats far enough, where we can have the likes of Hafeez, Malik and Imad come in and start power hitting around the 42nd over... Of course this is all hopes and prayers...and a lot depends on the wicket and whether we are batting first or chasing as that will change how we go about our batting. There will be matches where we look great, and other matches where we struggle but thats just cricket, the point is to display character and play to win each time...

Babar and Fakhar definitely, opposition will be targeting to get them out as early as possible.

Babar Azam is our best player but so far against the top teams he has struggled to make an impact on games. Really this need to change.

Don't think Pakistan is a team that wins with consistent batting. If all batsman play one life changing each in WC, it will be enough. Like Fakhar CT final one.

Imam and Hafeez. No team will let Fakhar score anymore. Babar is spineless. Malik can't play pace. Haris will not get a game unless someone gets injured.

Fakhar will struggle as top teams have figured him out
Baber May make the most runs but will do with little impact
Hafeez will be the one putting the innings back together after a collapse or he will be taking it to the bowlers if we get a good start. He will be a key finisher and for that reason he is a massive part of this line up. His knock against India in the CT final doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.

If you mean the one that the fans would like to abuse, as in ‘go to hell’ it could either Malik or Imam

Babar. Haris can be the one as well but might not get a game till after a few losses sadly.

Lets hope for a blistering start from Fakhar and Babar to keep it going...

I think Hafeez will bat well too, I would love to see him bat in the final 7/5 overs, if he lasts that long.

No confidence in Malik/Sarfaraz etc.

I dont think we have a 'go-to' batsman like Russel, Buttler Kohli etc.

Imam and Babar will be the only reliable batsmen for Pakistan. Imad might be the best bet for a few big hits later in the innings but I expect everyone else will fail.

Babar Azam - hope Haris and Imam can step up too!

Safaraz. If teletubby wants to bat in the top 5 and lead his side to glory he'd better start setting the example.

You should see more of Abid Ali. Sarfaraz should show some guts and give him ample chances vs England even though he is not fav of the coach. I really hope they dont drop him after few failures.

It has to be Babar.

Fakhar might have some sparkling games, but this format will need consistent volume at decent rate from a top order. Considering FZ will open and Babar will bat at 3, from 9 games, either of them to be the go to guy, Babar will need to score around 575 runs @85 SR, or Fakhar to score 450 runs @100 SR. I think, Babar has better chance to reach that target.

With Abid, Babar and Haris Pakistan are going with a strong top order which is technically pretty sound.

Even if 2 of these 3 fire, we can post solid totals.

PakPassion.net: Who do you see as the key batsmen for Pakistan at the World Cup?

Nasser Hussain: I look at Babar Azam and see him as the batsman in the Pakistan batting line-up who can take his side to the 300 mark. I also look at Fakhar Zaman and recall what he did at the Champions Trophy and in fact it is these guys that I look at as the ones who can take Pakistan from a competitive score to a good score. Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik can take Pakistan to a certain score but actually I am always on the lookout for star names that can put in stellar performances and make you sit back and go wow, this lad can play. If Pakistan can get one or two of their star younger players doing a Virat Kohli or being like a Jos Buttler or doing a Kane Williamson or a David Warner, then that's when Pakistan will be right in the tournament. So, it's the younger Pakistani batsmen that I am looking out for at this World Cup.

Nasser Hussain on key batsmen for Pakistan in the World Cup

I think the world cup will be a high scoring one and pakistan will need Fakhar , hafeez and imad to fire. Imam , babar and Haris are all accumulators but in the end the matches will be decided by ability to score quick runs throughout the innings.

Most reliable: Haris Sohail. Very difficult to get him out!

Most classy: Babar Azam. But not as reliable as Haris. Won't score as many runs as Haris.

Need to fire: Hafeez and Fakhar. If they both score, we'll post huge totals and can win the cup!

Baber and Haris for sure ,they will score runs but they would need a good solid finisher to make their runs count.

Too much expectation from Babar who is yet to play a single noteworthy knock in a successful chase despite playing cricket for over 3 years now.

I have changed my answer. After the yesterday's practice match, I think Haris and Imad will cross 500.

it has to be one of babar or haris. They both inspire some confidence and both look top class.I hope both score around 500 runs.

Its heartening to see Haris Sohail finally getting a game in this world cup for a change and making it count when the game could have drifted away from us while setting up a target which wouldn't have been more than 250 had it not been for Haris's heroics. This innings of his should settle some nerves in our batting dept. and I expect Fakhar and Babar to play with less pressure now knowing they have a batsman in the middle order in Haris Sohail who could actually hold one end tight and also score at 5-6 an over at ease. This innings of Haris could actually turn out to be the one to change the mind-set of out batsmen , actaully similar top what Fakhar Zameen did 2 years ago against South Africa in Champions Trophy.
