Babar seems to be a popular choice ...

==

During a Cricbuzz show, when Sehwag was asked about his choice for the leading run getter in the T20 World Cup this year, the former cricketer said, "Babar Azam from Pakistan."

The 44-year-old Indian cricketer, who is celebrating his birthday on Thursday (October 20), said that Babar brings a sense of calm to the crease the way former India captain Virat Kohli, with whom the Pakistan skipper is frequently compared, used to do in T20Is.

"He has been extraordinary. It's great fun to watch. There is a sense of calmness whenever Virat Kohli bats and you get something similar when watching Babar," he said.

Former English captain Michael Vaughan was on the same page as Sehwag and said that the fact that Babar is the opener for Pakistan and has formed a prolific partnership at the top of the order with Mohammad Rizwan will only help him top the charts this year.

"This year's T20 World Cup, I am going with Babar Azam. Brilliant player, Pakistan's opening batter. A great combination with Rizwan at the top of the order. So consistent, Babar Azam will score the most runs," Vaughan said.

I think Babar indeed has a great chance to score the highest number of runs, but I’m not sure his 120 strike rate on average will be enough for Pakistan. I think if someone scores a 170+ vs Pakistan, they have a great chance of winning on big Australian grounds where Rizwan’s airy shots will find a fielder than go to the boundary.

Rizwan,

i find it hilarious that Indians are not mentioning their openers but mentioning Susriya Kumar Yadav even though he doesnt open and bats in the middle

Everyone will be happy and accept it as long as the runs matter

I don't think SKY will be the top scorer. It is very rare unless you see repeated top order collapses. Only non-opener i can think of is Dawid Malan beacuse of the high risk game of England's openers.

Finch.

As big of a hack as he is, this is his home.

Babar, Buttler, Warner, Conway, Rohit.

One of these 5. Rizwan has some deficiencies vs short ball so I am suspectible about his chances.

I think Group 1 teams have better bowling overall so Group 2 openers have it easier. Babar and Rizwan have a good chance

From Sky:

NASSER: It is going to have to be someone at the top of the order whose team do well and so I would go with Buttler, but there are so many candidates. KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Babar Azam, Mohammed Rizwan. Suryakumar Yadav is a fantastic player but he will come in at No 4 for India, after Rohit, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli so you wonder how many balls he will face.

EOIN: I'm going for Jos. Even when I was still playing, I watched him play shots that made me think, I should retire because I can't do that. He is on a different level with how hard he hits the ball and how he is consistently trying to evolve his game.

ATHERS: Look for the openers. Buttler should do well and show he is one of the best white-ball players in the world. David Warner for Australia, too. And clearly Pakistan openers Babar and Rizwan. Pakistan don't take as many risks as some other teams trying to get to a par or above-par score due to the strength of their bowling attack so it gives them the time to settle in.

Are the records from round 1 annulled going into the super 12’s?

If not then my bet is on Sikandar Raza Butt!

Babar has to be it - needs to pick-up his game

The great cricketing mind, Misbah’s heir Major :))

If India go to final, Kohli should finish on top. He is averaging 100+.

Glenn Phillips also has a chance.

Kohli, SKY, Phillips are the most likely to finish at the top.

Conway, Masood and Hales can be outside chances.

No Pakistani in the top 10 in this format especially shows how awful the batting has been

SL, Zim, Ire, Neth have played the qualifiers so there's too many of them.

Apart from them, Kohli, SKY, Philips and Shanto are there. Rossouw and Masood would be 5 and 6 if we exclude them.
