All too young.Zafar Gohar , Mohammad Asghar or Usama Mir.
No leggie in pakistan ready for test cricket. Zafar gohar will have to step up now. Though not sure we should play 2 left arm spinners. I think for away tours imad can be included to strengthen batting plus 3 pace bowlers
So now we will be looking for Usama Mir, Gohar and Asghar. TalentSpotterPk we have a good pool of spinners, i hope PCB know this.
Young spinner debuting in England? Knowing Misbah how likely is it?
Zulfiqar Babar will get an overseas tour.
Things are just getting worse for us.
Zafar. Lol. He's not even ready for ODIs yet as he gives a boundary ball every over. Plus he's not a leggie, but should play in LOIs to develop.
Shahzaib, Karamat are leggies but not sure how mature are they.
All too young.![]()
Play 4 seamers![]()
There is a very good offspinner from Dera Ghazi Khan named Mohammad Asif.
But he is 32.
Last year he was the best spinner of QEA trophy silver and gold league with 33 wickets in 13 innings. Where he took 3 fourfers, 1 fivefer and 1 tenfer at an average of 24 and at a remarkable strike rate of 36.
He plays for Multan.
The spinner of gold and silver league was not drafted in any regional team by PCB this year which is failure of selectors otherwise he would have out bowled and our performed Mohammad Asghar and Sohaib Khan this season and would have been in test contention incase Yasir gets suspended.
This year this is the spinners performance :
1. Zulfiqar Babar 7 matches 30 wickets
2. Mohammad Asghar 8 matches 26 wickets
3. Abdur Rehman 7 matches 22 wickets
4. Sohaib Khan 7 matches 21 wickets
5. Zafar Gohar 5 matches 19 wickets.
6. Nasir Awais 3 matches 15 wickets.
Zulfiqar Babar and Abdul Rehman are 37 and 36 years old officially. Actually the are both 40 and sorry it's apparent.
Sohaib Khan is 26 but has played just 9 Fc games for Karachi team. No departmental cricket yet and he is left arm orthpdox.
Nasir Awais is 32 and has played 45 Fc games where he averages 31 with the ball with strike rate of 64 so not impressive.
There are 2 other left-armer. Mohammad Irfan SSGC and Kashif Bhatti of SBP. Both have good records but nothing to show off this season and personally I don't rate both of them.
So in terms of talent , skillet , ability and performance the best two are :
1. Zafar Gohar , almost 21
13 matches 56 wickets at an Ave of 23 and SR of 47 with 2 fivefers and 1 tenfer
2. Mohammad Asghar , 20 years old
10matches 41 wickets at an average of 25 and SR of 52 with 3 fivefers and 1 tenfer.
Pakistan's best left arm spinner in test cricket Iqbal Qasim rates Asghar higher than Zafar but Zafar's record I slightly better.
Pakistan will probably Go with Zafar Gohar.

Is Zafar a one format bowler (Tests) or can do well in T-20s and ODIs as well?

Need a right arm spinner. Zafar would have replaced Babar and support yasir. But now they need a replacement for yasir shah which is not easy.
So now we will be looking for Usama Mir, Gohar and Asghar. TalentSpotterPk we have a good pool of spinners, i hope PCB know this.

Yes brother you are right.
But they are too young and inexperienced at even domestic level. So I doubt pcb will give any of them debut in england.
So it will be Zulfiqar Babar only or Zulfiqar Babar and Imad Wasim for England Test tour.
Can't believe we're having this conversation.
Please not Chacha Zulfi. I'd even take Imad over him, every day of the week.
Things could have been totally different if Mohammad Asif had played for any department or region this season. Since it is not the case so we dot have any quality right arm spinner. Neither offie or leggie.
Usama Mir is a great talent and has got great skills as a leggie. Can bowl all variations. Spins it appreciably. Is tall has great action. Rate him very highly. But he needs atleast 1 or 2 years to develop. May be 3 years. Also his Fc stats are very poor.
So the best spinners choice are Zafar and Asghar.
Don't see Asif playing or getting selected when he hasn't played domestic cricket for an year. Still wish and pray that he plays for Multan team in coming List A tournament and catches the eye of selectors.
Spinners do the bulk of overs and also the 90 overs can be completed in the time frame. And seamers need rest time to get charged up for second new ball. Bowling a seamer with an old ball in UAE is like cannon fodder.
We are finished as a Test team now. Already minnow level in Limited Overs.
Pakistan cricket is finished.
you will be saying the same when you are 55.

Mamoon is really disappointed and frustrated today.
But rightly So.

Another lifeline for the javelin thrower, aka Ajmal?
I think in England we should play 3 Seamers (Amir, Wahab, Junaid/Asif/I Khan) with Imad wasim
Imad is not a great test spinner but he would strengthen batting and keep one end economical
If Azhar opens with Hafeez with Asad at 3, Sirfaraz at 6/7 , Imad at 6/7 & one more spinner (zafar)., then I believe it will strengthen both batting (wahab & amir as tail) and bowling. (5 bowling options)
Imad's stats are pretty good in UK; he has been playing there for the past five years. I think we should try him along with Zafar Gohar. Here's posting an abstract from Instonians website;

The only solution is to educate the players at grass-root level. Otherwise, these things will continue to happen. As mentioned in the other thread, lack of education and awareness is the biggest issue in this country.
Imad, Zafar, Shahzaib & Usama Mir are the best spinners in PAKISTAN.
Yasir was a rubbish ODI/T20 bowler anyways. And our next tests are overseas where spin won't be a major factor.

Brother Cricket is a sports and it's a secondary thing for a country. First the systems need to be overhauled than with the wind the cricket board will be overhauled aswell. When the basic education system in a country is so so poor than how do we expect a competent cricket board and cricket associations and regions educating players about doping and fixing etc. Episodes of Asif and Shoaib happened 8 years ago and now we have lost Raza Hassan and Yasir Shah because we just could not remodel our system as per needs. Where there is no appropriate primary education for children there how you can expect sports education for players ?
In Human development we are at 147 number in world and regressing rater than improving. Whereas Australia is a 2. New Zealand is at 9 and UK is at 12. Look at New Zealand Sports flourishing for a country which is so small and has lesser population. Look at Australian sports flourishing.
We have talent. But we don't have systems. Be it be cricket or anything else.
Unless we overhaul the systems we will continue to a ashame ourselves with all these negative and embarrassing news.
Yes, nothing more to add here. Eventually, the state of PCB and Pakistan cricket is just a reflection of the country: a complete and utter joke.
There was this guy in last under19 world cup not sure of his name though, I think karamat Ali, he was probably the best leggie on show in that world cup .. what happened to him. I mean he had a lot of guile and mystery in his bowling . He cd spin his Goggly miles. I think he needs to be blooded if he's still around .. mind you haven't heard of him at all ever since and I think he was good batter as wellIf Yasir Shah gets handed a one year ban or more, you will replace him in tests?
Yasir was a rubbish ODI/T20 bowler anyways. And our next tests are overseas where spin won't be a major factor.
But if you look at positive side we have people such as yourself, and others who are well educated in PAK
iA we will come good.
Huge loss, he would have been absolutely key in Pakistan tour of Australia and England to an extent. I don't know much about the replacements, I hope someone can replace him otherwise we'll fail to bowl teams out. Aamir coming into the team even more important now but sad how life works; Aamir in but Yasir out. Apparently he can be banned for up to 4 years, such a shame I don't think Yasir is going to get away with this.
In Australia he would have been absolutely key given the bounce the pitches have. And pitches in general here in our country are dependent on the weather and the new drainage systems allow for spin friendly conditions, having said that wear and tear as Tests progress aid the spinners on the last few days and especially at the Oval. Agree that it's not a big loss in ODI/T20
The only solution is to educate the players at grass-root level. Otherwise, these things will continue to happen. As mentioned in the other thread, lack of education and awareness is the biggest issue in this country.
4 year ban will be the end of his career IMO, Yasir will be 30 next year.
We're screwed if Imad or Zafar don't come good imo.
On those wearing and tearing pitches, Shahzaib, Imad & Zafar will be superb. You saw how good Zafar was vs England in ODI.
Its not that big a loss provided they pick Shahzaib Ahmed Khan(who I think is just as good, if not better)
It's unfair just throwing them at the deep end just like that but they'll have to stand up. They need to be in the playing XI in all forms asap, unfortunately we don't have any Tests before the tour of England Bullet Drive
Spinners tend to be active into their late 30's so there is still hope that he may be able to resume his career and be just as succesful iA
Yes but if some of the young spinners like Imad, Usama, Zafar etc. do well in his absence, he might not get another opportunity.
That's true but hopefully he'll get the same fallen hero/saviour treatment that Aamir did (am sure Yasir will to) and that would make his return imminent
