You cant read people's minds and come up with their reasons for voting. And while I respect Roberts point of view - neither can he.

He was strongly rejected by his own party for two reasons imo and neither of them were his race ( of course this is just my opinion too)

1. The financial scandals involving his Indian wife.
2. His policies weren't seen as truly conservative.

Now in the space of a few years we have went from a PM 'elected' by the people, to a PM elected by the Tory members, and finally a PM elected by a small band of MPs.

What's next? A small Tory politburo that makes decisions on behalf of us all.

It's a complete and utter shambles.

Don't need to read anyone's minds. It's out there for everyone to see.

This is from a Conservative party member:

So tell me do you honestly think the members who voted for Liz Truss did so on the grounds of meritocracy?

I can’t read minds, but I have talked to enough elderly white right wingers to know how a lot of them think. You know racism exists. Here is a British lake of it, full of Brexit-voting xenophobes.

Not truly Conservative? He nailed Truss’s fantasy economics at the hustings, accurately predicted what would happen. The members didn’t listen.

Anyway props to Sunak for overcoming that prejudice and becoming the first British Asian PM.

Exactly.

I can't believe how anyone can have any doubts for the motives of the Conservative members for rejecting Rishi.

The xenophobia is beyond obvious.

Liz Truss can't hold a candle to Rishi.
