I pin my hopes on Pakistan of course but it will most likely be England.
England and Australia have complete teams.
India is very good. Their opening three is deadly but their middle order is their weakness. Bowling is also good.
New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are the 4th contenders for the semi finals.

For me, India, England, New Zealand, Australia and SA are all equally strong on paper. They all have their strengths and weaknesses

Aus Ind Pak either one of these 3 - if pak can avoid the 1st semi @ old trafford, the second semi is in edgbaston great chance to get into final.

Hard to decide between England and India. As much as I'd like to see an underdog upset, usually the World Cup produces little surprise in who wins it whereas the format of the CT and WT20 lends itself to shocks.

It'll come down to who has the best team for the conditions.

I want pak to win but eng should win. It's their cup to lose. If pak get knocked out early then i'm supporting ENG. They've been through too much.

Pakistan

The support this world cup for Pakistan should be bigger than ever and will certainly help the team.

Australia will also suprise.

Hmm interesting is it because the WC is in UK?

Yep, almost all Pakistan matches are sold out. The ticketing this time has given pleny of people opportunities to attend matches. Previously the ticket lines would open and it was mainly Indians who would snap up all the tickets. We will see more Pakistanis in the India v Pak match this time and all other matches apart from England will see at least 70% plus Pakistani fans. Some teams react to fans as pressure but Pakistan teams usually react as motviation.

Of course you have to play well but I think these last two series agianst the 2 best teams (imo) have been a great help to the team. Pakistan competed well with England when the bowling was not firing. The bowling will fire in the tournament and if our batting continues to do well, will be diffiult to beat. The only real worry for me is the fielding esp catches and perhaps the RR in the first 10 on a flat deck.

Nice, thanks for the detailed post.

And totally agree with the fielding and RR in PP issue.

Pakistan.

It's written in the stars

Pakistan Vs India in the Semi Finals

Pakistan Vs Australia or England in the Finals.

The payback of Mohali and Lord’s.

It is indeed written in the stars.

On paper England and Australia are the strongest teams but SA,NZ.WI and Pakistan shouldn't be taken lightly.Bangladesh and Afghanistan may cause a few upsets.Personally I don't care about the predictions.I will watch all of Pakistan's matches.I want Pakistan to play good cricket and put up a fight.Winning and losing is part of the game.Cricket is a funny game. The toss, umpiring, weather and luck play a big part in cricket.

its will be miracle if Pakistan qualify for the semis but if they do somehow then they will be the most dangerous team and will have equal chances of winning the World cup. Its India's or England's cup to lose though

Voted Australia. They are going to put on an exhibition on how to win a world cup with clinical efficiency.

My choice for 2019 world cup-Australia or West Indies

It may sound suprising and some viewers may mock me but I have a strong insight that West Indies may well clinch the 2019 world cup. With the Calypsos I back the Australian side or kangaroos equally. So I predict an Australia -West Indies final.I back Australia,West Indies,England and India to make the semi-final.

I agree that England is the most balanced side and deserve favouritism with their recent record at home and away. They have displayed remarkable consistency and organization and been particularly succesful against Australia both home and away which is notable.Combination of Jason Roy,Joe Root,Bairstow,Ben Stokes,Mark Wood,Chris Woakes,Moen Ali,Archer,Joss Butler etc. make England a perfectly balanced unit Howevever England has never won a world cup inspite or reaching 5 semi-finals and 3 finals and may face too much pressure of the favourites tag.England have also never won an ICC trophy inspite of being the best team in 2013 and 2017.In world cup history England just lacked that crunch or match-winning killer instinct to win a world cup which was in their grasp in 1987,1992 and arguably even 1979.Some teams are ever -consistent but just lack the necessary adrelanin to win a world cup likePakistan in 1992.

India may not be as balanced but has arguably more match-winners or charismatic players than England..However it does not have the experience of some of the teams and infused fresh talent.I also feel Virat Kohli is not a great tactician as a skipper and this may go against India.India has a great bowling attack but is slightly vulnerable in the batting aspect. It depends which side of the graph INdia are on.Somehow I feel India lacks preparation unlike Pakisatn who played 5 matches against England.Notable that unlike England India has beaten South Africa on their soil.No playesr of any side surpass the talent of Virat Kohli,Rohit Sharma or Jasprit Bhumrah. The pitches will also probably suit India.

Australia are not as balanced as England but have peaked at the right time winning succesive series away against India and Pakistan. It has the advantage of wining the cup 5 times before and has never lost a semi-final.The world cup is not about just team balance or consistency but ability to peak or lift ones game at the right or spur of the moment.Australia are masters at galvanzing their resources when a crisis awaits them to rise like a phoenix from the Ashes. No team ever has had the mental fortitude or match temperament of Australia .The return of Steve Smith and David Warner would play a major factor. Also match-winners in Aaron Finch,Michel Starc etc.

West Indies are the dark horses and on their day can blaze away in a run chase like no other team.In the recent 2-2 drawn series they proved that they could be as good as anybody and all but won the series. It has some of the most dashing stroke players ever seen in a world cup like Gayle ,Andre Russell and Brathwaithe and talented allrounders. It is similar to the side that won the 2004 ICC trophy. It is overdue now that a dark horse wins with favourites triumphing since 2003.With a bit of luck West Indies may well have won the title also in 1983 and 1987 in addition to those won in 1975 and 1979.It also came within touching distance as dark horses in 1996.It is notable that they lifted the t-20 world cup in India in 2016.Shimron Hetmeyer,Chris Gayle,Dwayne Bravo,Andre Russell and Shai Hope are match-winners on their daywho can explode like a dynamite.

I believe Pakistan has an outside chance of wining and will benefit from playing 5 games against England. It has some promising talent and on their day they can beat anyone. They came very close to winning 2 games against England which is significant. It also has a very small tail and strong depth in batting.I give New Zealand as much chance as I give Pakistan.I have a strong gut feeling that if Pakistan makes the semis then they will go on to win the tournament..Players like Inam Ul Haqand Faqar Zaman are match-winners as well as Junaid Khan ,Mohammad Amir or Mohammad Hafeez.

Thus I predict a repeat of 1975 final and it is anybody's guess who will win.My head says Australia,my heart says West Indies.

West Indies' bowlers are very raw. They literally have no spin attack. I doubt they'll stand a chance against the top teams in the semis. Like we saw in 2015.
If they can bowl well, they have the batting to win matches. But i highly doubt it.

It is going to be a hung world cup. No one will win the group convincingly.
IndvsPak final again with 4 required off final ball & Hassan Ali will smash the SIX.

Australia. In big matches, there is only one team who you'd want to play for you and that is Australia.

I voted SA but now I am thinking India has a better chance!

Looking not good for Pakistan at the moment but lets see what role the weather plays in this World Cup.

The most fancied team of the World Cup- England seems to be completely out of sorts when it really matters. Would be an embarrassment if they don't make it semis. They were the best prepared team coming into World Cup and were hailed as favs. The pressure of favs tag has probably consumed them.

WC favorites at current stage?

1. Australia(50%chance): Very strong team mentally. Know how to win tournaments. Have all skills and grit to do it once again.

2. Eng(30% chance): Home team, know conditions, gun bating till 10, no one can match them in batting shootout.

3. Ind(15% chance): Skillwise no match for Aus and Eng, cant take pressure when odds are not in favour. Can win if Eng/Aus has an off day or Rohit/Virat play Jayasuriya/Arvinda type of innings.

4 Nz/Pak(5%): Has to have a real bad day from the above teams which is not likely.

Discuss.

It all depends on who plays whom.

Australia is being called favourites because historically they punch hardest in the big games but they lost to India and were in trouble against Pakistan too. How come they have 50% of winning and India only 15% is beyond me.

Stop with this cowardly talk.

India is going into the semis with as much expectations as anyone else if not more. This is a great team still and should Go all the way

I would like to see Australia chasing anything over 250. Let us see. They have batted first all the time.

I know India will struggle to chase 300+ but they can chase totals till 270-280.Rohit and Kohli know how to perform while chasing and so does Dhoni(if there is no Strike Rate issue).

England haven't won anything while chasing and it took them really a flat wicket to score 338 batting first. This team has flaws and have still not shown ability to come good when back are against the wall.

We had Gabbar in that match

Who is only our third best batsman.

Kohli and Sharma are ranked 1 and 2 respectively.

Bumrah is ranked 1

Our bowling collectively is best in the World Cup.

What’s up with all this cowardly talk?

Going by player caliber, form, rankings, money invested this Indian team should comment home with the World Cup.

The way a lot of little Indian fans are behaving, they are giving the impression India isn’t even a contender. What foolishness is this? Most country fans would gladly be in our position and with our talent pool.

Learn to appreciate what you have.

This is a good team. This is a great team.

It’s no less than the opponents out there.

How come freaking England with 3 embarrassing defeats is suddenly a bigger team than India? Madness

India lacks skill levels of Eng, grit & killer instincts of Aus and tactical shrewdness of Nz.
This is not cowardly but rational.
Other two play well as a team. We cant score 50 runs if our 4 wickets are down.
Other teams have to have an off day and we are reliant on individual brilliance in knockouts.

Is NZ winning this world cup?

Just look how much luck they get from start to finish and this for reasons because they will win it all mark my words because even south Africa played better than them.

Australia is winning this WC. They just hold better nerve in the big games. Haven't lost a knockout game since 1996(and that was a final mind you).
India isn't a strong side. All it takes is one ball to get Rohit out. Kohli is getting himself out to nothing balls. Really missing Dhawan here. Indias middle order is a laughinf stock. Their bowling is good though-second to Aus.
NewZealand has an even more fragile batting lineup. India relies on 2 batsmen. NZ rely on one. One good ball and NZ are out. Their bowling is decent but don't think it can bail them out.
This is the best chance England have gotten winning a WC since 1992. If they don't win it now with this team then I don't think they ever will. That being said, England can't chase. The only sides that can beat Eng are India and Aus and thats only if they bat second. England batting first will definitely mean they are winning the match
My opinion
Aus vs England final- Aus to win (England to bottle under pressure)

IND knocked AUS out in 2011 Qf that was a KO

England or India InshAllah. Two of the best and most deserving teams.

India looks to be the best team inspite of so many flaws.

But for a knockout - India, England and Aus are tied.

There is always this toss threat. Losing the toss can be very very risky.

NZ looks weak but I have a feeling they might do well.

So NZ it is for me. :D

I will vote for them and open their account.

India or Australia for me.

However wouldn’t mind if England win the World Cup - they deserve one considering their cricketing history.

Australia or India are winning this World Cup

The British will never win anything against India/Pak or in India/Pak. That is their karma for separating a nation in two.

Also Australia will always come in their way as well.

1975 World Cup Semi Final lost to Australia

1983 World Cup Semi Final lost to India

1987 World Cup Final lost to Australia in India by 7 runs

1992 World Cup Final lost to Pakistan in Australia

1996 World Cup Quarter Final lost to Sri Lanka in Pakistan

1999 World Cup knocked out by India

2002 Champions Trophy knocked out by India

2004 Champions Trophy Semi Final an anomaly won vs Australia

2006 Champions Trophy loss to India and Australia in India

2007 World T20 embarrassed by India

2009 World T20 Pakistan won in England

2009 Champions Trophy knocked out by Australia

2010 World T20 an anomaly won vs Australia

2011 World Cup knocked out by Sri Lanka in tournament hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh

2012 World T20 embarrassed by India

2013 Champions Trophy lost in the final to India

2014 World T20 knocked out in group stage in Bangladesh

2015 World Cup knocked out by Bangladesh in Australia

2016 World T20 had the title won but choked in India

2017 Champions Trophy knocked out by Pakistan

2019 World Cup either losing the final to India or getting knocked out by Australia

Only way England is winning is if they meet New Zealand in the final.

I predicted an England vs India final and England to win, I still stick by this and its happening...

After seven weeks, 45 matches and plenty of standout performances with both the bat and ball, the four semi-finalists for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 have been confirmed.

On the face of it, the top four sides are as expected - with India, Australia England and New Zealand going into the tournament ranked the best four ODI teams in the world.

But as hosts England can attest to, the journey to reach the knockout stage has not been plain sailing for all of the sides that remain in contention to be crowned champions.

Australia will now continue the defence of their 2015 crown against England at Edgbaston, while India face New Zealand at Old Trafford in the other semi-final showdown.

And as the race to reach the tournament showpiece at Lord’s on 14 July draws to a close, here’s a look at the World Cup records of the four teams who are still in contention for silverware.

INDIA

The tag of being one of the favourites can weigh heavily on some - but India have shown no signs of being burdened by the pressure as they topped the standings after the round-robin stage.

India won seven of their nine games to finish at the summit, with their defeat to tournament hosts England the only blot on their record following a complete washout against New Zealand.

A seventh World Cup semi-final is the reward for their consistency and they will fancy their chances with the likes of skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah at their disposal.

You only have to go back to 2015 for the last time India were in the final four, before falling at the penultimate hurdle that year as they were knocked out by eventual champions Australia.

They also exited the tournament at the same stage in 1987 and 1996 - losing to England and Sri Lanka, respectively - in between their World Cup victories in 1983 and 2011.

Of the three finals they have contested, though, India have only finished runners-up once. They will also hope the omens are good, having also won their first World Cup on English soil.

AUSTRALIA

Despite arriving in England as the defending champions, Aaron Finch and his men found themselves in the unfamiliar position of not being considered frontrunners for the title.

With much of the pre-tournament hype focused around hosts England and India, Australia were still seen by many as a side still in transition as they slipped under the radar.

But if the history of the World Cup has taught us anything, it’s that Australia are serial winners and they were the first team to secure their qualification for the knockout stages in the 2019 edition.

Australia will contest the semi-finals for the eighth time and will do so safe in the knowledge that when they have reached the last four in the past, they have never missed out on the final.

And with five World Cup wins from 11 played, including a hat-trick of victories between 1999 and 2007, they unquestionably have the best pedigree of the sides left in the competition.

Finch now has the opportunity to join the illustrious names of Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke by leading Australia to World Cup glory. Don’t bet against it.

ENGLAND

Coming into the tournament as hosts and the No.1 ODI side in the world, England have had to deal with high expectations in their bid to win their first-ever men’s World Cup.

The first objective of reaching the semi-final stages for first time since 1992 has been achieved, though, even if there were a few nerve-shredding moments along the way.

Eoin Morgan’s troops prevailed in their final two games against India and New Zealand to book their last four place, taking their overall group stage tally to six wins from nine games.

And while it has been 27 years since they last contested a World Cup semi-final, England do have plenty of experience of reaching this stage from when the competition was in its infancy.

England progressed to the semi-final stages in the first five editions of the tournament, only to see their challenge go no further in 1975 and 1983 - both times when they were the hosts.

But when they have reached the final - in 1979, 1987 and 1992 - England have finished runners-up to West Indies, Australia and Pakistan. This time the hosts will be hoping its fourth time lucky.

NEW ZEALAND

The round-robin stage could almost be separated into two sections for New Zealand, who ultimately qualified for the knockout stages with five wins from their nine matches.

But that only tells part of the story. The Black Caps were unbeaten after their opening six matches, with their abandoned game against India at Trent Bridge their only dropped point.

Three defeats from their final three games then left their semi-final place briefly in doubt, only for net run rate to rescue Kane Williamson’s side with Pakistan breathing down their neck.

Like England, New Zealand have never won the World Cup, although they have certainly had their fair share of missed opportunities having previously contested seven semi-finals.

However, of those seven appearances in the final four, the Black Caps have only gone on to reach the competition’s showpiece once - in 2015 when they were beaten by co-hosts Australia.

With the disappointment from that defeat four years ago still fresh in the memory, New Zealand will feel the time has come for them to finally shake off that ‘nearly men’ label once and for all.

The only team who I feel won't win is NZ - I don't see them beating India and one of Aus/Eng in consecutive matches.

It's England Vs New Zealand grand Finale

Coming Up Grand finale England and New Zealand..... Forget about Aussie and india Mark my words...

Coming Up Grand finale England and New Zealand..... Forget about Aussie and india Mark my words...

i hope that, Cricketing world needs a new World Champion, and both England and NZ need it badly for cricket back home.

India are looking sharp for this one!

I would personally like England to win. They are a champion nation and deserve it for organising the tournament so very beautifully! (Except for weather which is out if their hands).

Couldn't care less, cricket world cup is on Mugabe media lockdown for me as soon as we were out.

I said it from the start and I'll still say it, India to win

It was my word nz eng Final.....nz beated India....England will be top on Aussie....so England and New Zealand grand Finale and England winning the world cup thanks all buddy on PP......
