England have thrashed India by 10 wickets and look formidable

Pakistan may have snuck into the Semis but their destruction of New Zealand cannot be discounted.

Your prediction for the final on Sunday 13th?

1992 vs 2022

Pakistan lost 1st game at MCG
Pakistan lost group game vs India
pakistan won last 3 group games
Host Australia crashed out in group stages
pakistan qualified for semi finals on last day by 1 point
Pakistan beat NZ in semi final
pakistan vs england final

So got to go with pakistan win 😆😉

Heart wants Pakistan, Head says England. They are just too gun a side. Pakistan will have to play out of their skin.

Man the sequence is unreal. If Pakistan wins then it will only make it sweeter considering how England gave India a thrashing of a lime time, so beating England after such a dominant game will sure be epic. Sunday, here we come

We can't set a decent score juts like India so the only chance we have is to chase...

If there’s no Mark Wood then I’d say Pak to win.

Shadab Khan will be the key for Pakistan.

Afridi and Shadab hold the key. Pak needs to bat first in the game and score 160. On MCG pitch under the lights, it's tricky to bat.

best bowling attack against best overall team, heart say pakistan, head says.... never mind about the head

I've decided i wont try to analyse the game in my head, will enjoy it for what it is.

If we get a full game, you expect England to beat this Pakistan 70-80% of the time.

If it's a shortened game, then I'd say it reduces England's chance slightly.

England are favorites.

I'm glad to see Hales and Buttler perform the way they did today because it gives Babar and Rizwan extra motivation to bat more positively in the powerplay. Barring the Semi, they've been selfish so it'll be interesting to see how they approach it in the final.

This is MCG. Fastest in this world cup. So it is not that easy to hit through the line. Also side boundaries are not 60 meter. It is about 80 meters. England apart from this one match struggled against a lot of sides. Even ireland pinned them down in helpful conditions.

Weather is bad in melbourne, even on reserve day.
If its a reduced overs game, i'd say pack your side with batsmen and just go swinging from ball one.
If its a full match, i'd still say Eng will not get such an easy time as they got against indian whilst batting.
pak bowling is excellent. if your fielding is anything like the semis and you mainting the intensity, no reason why pak cant win. good luck!

Deja vu.

Pak will win

If overcast conditions then it doesnt matter how good the batting its all about the bowling..

Radical plan to save T20 World Cup final from being ruined by Melbourne’s weather

However, pragmatic local ICC World Cup organisers have looked to take what could prove a crucial step in tinkering with its own playing conditions, to do everything to make sure millions around the world will not be disappointed, and a rightful World Cup winner is crowned – rather than the trophy being shared.

SCBBL PROMO
Usually there are strict time restrictions on how long a match can be paused for before it is abandoned, but News Corp understands that Monday’s reserve day could stretch from its scheduled 3pm start time well into the night to ensure a match can be played.

The change is yet to be officially ratified but looks to have the support of teams and officials.

Sunday is looking particularly severe with a medium to high chance of showers and even storms forecast in Melbourne.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Monday is much more positive, with only a couple of millimeters predicted and rain becoming even less likely in the evening.

And this is where the World Cup’s grand plan comes into play as a potentially genius ploy to ward off disaster.

It means that if the reserve day is needed, Pakistan and their opponents might be sitting around for hours to get on the field in the event of afternoon rain – but the frustrating prospect of the stumps being pulled at 7pm only for the rain to suddenly cease will be avoided.

We might see full overs on Monday if it happens. Less likely to rain during Monday evening

Athers backs England for glory

Sky Sports Cricket's Michael Atherton...

"There is an intriguing echo of 1992, in the way Pakistan came through the group stages through the backdoor almost and then played England in the final. I think there will be a different result this time."

England are the firm favourites.I want Pakistan to win but it can only happen if England have a poor day in the field. It could be poor bowling, batting or fielding. On paper England has the best batting line up.Pakistan batting is brittle.

Pressure does crazy things to people. On paper in normal circustamces England would be strong favourites, but in a final pressure does amazing things to the best of players.

I usually am not confident about Pakistan in these kinda games - but this time, I am backing Pakistan.

They are ready. And Equipped.

Eng Favorites. However, the long boundaries and fast pitch helps Pak. If Eng batsmen take chances against Pak quicks and legspin, they will create chances at the boundry. Pak will need to field brilliantly. Don't drop catches at the boundry that WILL come.
While batting, run for your life. Big boundaries meaning more opportunities to run double or more. Dot balls will need to be minimized.

Pakistan will win. England had no clue at the MCG against Irish bowlers. They nailed both openers in double quick time. Ball will be jagging around. Buttler is one of the worst player against swing bowling.

Don't get too upset when PAK loses to ENG

PAK are a very good team, but this ENG team is special, as long as ENG play at something near their best, they are pretty much unbeatable.

There is no shame in losing to a legendary team like ENG, but i hope that PAK put up a good fight.

It's been a while since i posted here, good to see some old faces/names.

Everything depends on our new ball bowlers to get both the openers early. Englands middle order so far hasn't stepped up and hasn't been tested much in this worldcup

England are by some distance the best T20 side in the world and so will be going into the final as favourites. I think this will suit Pakistan actually - and stranger things have happened in cricket and in the world, so watch this space :-)

This! 2 quick strikes and we are in the game!

True, but PAK are too reliant on Rizman & Baber, if we get them out cheaply then it's already game over.

It's good to see the two best teams in the final.

England is clearly the better side on paper.

But.. it will all depend on what Pakistan shows up that day..

Pakistan’s best players are Harris, Iftikhar, Nawaz, Shadab, Rauf, Shaheen and Wasim JR

Stop making it seem like we are totally reliant on RizBar. They are our joy riders. They will reap the rewards of the hard work of those fellows I mentioned

Rain is expected. So that nullifies the entire tournament. Sharing is not fair

Based on this one innings where they have short side boundaries zero assistance to bowlers? Can you explain why they were struggling against Srilankan part-timers chasing a small total?

Lack of motivation, Sri Lanka are average at best.

Barring the match today England has not been that good in the tournament. I dont think they can score more than 160 of our bowling.

Pakistan has much better bowlers
.if the bowlers will have an off day then surely ..otherwise it's Pakistan's game to lose.

Our bowling attack will tie knots around them and Rizwan and Babar will their cruise way to the middling target. Tried and tested Pak formula.

I think our B team bowlers are still good enough to win.

Imagine if Wood & Archer were fit? They may as well have not bothered staging the tournament and just given the trophy to ENG.

Acha jee jo 200 without Butler maare they woh Namibia ke the?

Those 200 scores were in Pakistan. This tournament is in Australia. And both Afridi and Naseem were not playing those matches.

Look at their scores this tournament with Butler in group stage.

113/5 in 18.1 overs against Afghanistan
105/5 in 14.3 overs against Ireland
179/6 in 20 overs against New Zealand
144/6 in 19.4 overs against Sri Lanka

Does not look like scores of a "legendary team" as the OP put it.

Play fearless Cricket against England win or lose is part of the game

Need atleast 50 in pp :)

That i what I am holding onto.
If there has been rain around and there is anything in the conditions - we have to bowl first and shaheen and naseem to be on full song.
If we bat first - dont aim too high and the quicks need to rip the game open with the new ball.
New ball is key!

Same issue. We thought we had already won the match before it was played.

England won't make that same mistake against Pakistan.

Losing a match due to motivation lol Nice excuse. India and England have faced each other enough to know that this English side shows up only on flat tracks. outside flat tracks, they can play like minnows.

So a chance of final with Arch-Rivals denied and its the old enemy we've got
Pakistan vs England

Lot of history between these two sides

We've been bashing every team in all conditions, ENG are easily the best T20 side in the world, only a hater could argue otherwise.

Whatever we have from here is a bonus. If England wins on Sunday, it’s expected. They went in there as one of the favourites to win the tournament. We, on the other hand, were mentally prepared to get knocked out on the group stage after our first two games. So the fact that we are here in the final means we have nothing to lose. If we lose on Sunday, I won’t be too sad. Our boys have punched above their weight and we should never loose sight of that fact. Best of luck to our boys and our prayers will always be with them.

The current ICC champions trophy holder vs the current ODI world cup holder.

This is like a heavyweight boxing class now that the chokers and divas have been knocked out.

True. This is the Fury vs Usyk of the cricketing world.

We have to chase. It’s as simple as that, bowling needs to come together for one last burst & sub 160 we manage…

Not rally. ENgland lost 4 back to back series to India in T20. Most recently lost badly to India 2-1. Should have been 3-0 but for that loose shot by SKy at 117. You guys couldn't play swing.

England is a good overall team ... But Pakistan is better bowling combination which might restrict England to a chaseable total ... So bowl first for Pakistan will be a good idea ..

For MCG pitch, I'm putting England slightly ahead. .. bat too deep.

I would agree with that, but the 20-30% of the time Pakistan wins would probably be in a cup final. That's when Pakistan usually raise their game, and England tend to lose their way. I don't think Pak bowlers will be such an easy proposition for England's big hitters as India were today.

In a high scoring encounter England will deliver sweetened eggs to Pakistan faces with French toast aswell deservedly so after what’s been happening recently.

Ireland beat England in Melbourne

Ireland bat first score 157 rain affected match but if u have confidence u can do it

U need champion mindset

Jos Buttler

The skipper said: "It's going to be an amazing occasion. You don't come down this road very often so it's certainly something to be relished.

"It's important we enjoy the performance [against India] but don't get too far ahead of ourselves. The biggest game of this tournament is still to come.

"I'm immensely proud of the guys, that was a brilliant performance, by far our best performance of the tournament.

J Bairstow:

Jonny Bairstow was set to open the batting for England in the T20 World Cup - only for a freak leg break on a golf course to rule him out of the tournament.

Hales replaced Bairstow in the England squad and has impressed in his last three knocks, with scores of 52 against New Zealand and 47 against Sri Lanka preceding his 86 against India.

Bairstow said of England's victory on Sky Sports News: "It was amazing, what a performance, as clinical as you can be. You need people to stand up in a semi-final and that's exactly what happened."

Asked if England's win made a statement, Bairstow added: "Absolutely. They were fearless all the way through the run chase.

"The character the guys have shown to come back from losing to Ireland and now being in a World Cup final is amazing but they will be well aware the job is not done yet.

"There will be confidence after that seven-match series in Pakistan [in September and October] that we came out the right side of but we also know the qualities they have.

"It is a level playing field when it comes to a World Cup final, I don't think there are favourites. If Pakistan's players stand up, it is going to be an enthralling game but if we can take early wickets and get into the middle order, we should be alright."

For MCG pitch, I'm putting England slightly ahead. .. bat too deep.

It doesn't matter how deep your batting line up is if there is assistance from the surface. Besides England bowling is not exactly stellar to say the least. india missed a 200 easily. Livingstone's pie overs 3-0-21-0

It is 50-50. Can go either way.

England have a better batting attack while Pakistan have a better bowling attack.

I think Pakistan are slightly favorites because they are on a roll (momentum).

Melbourne pitch has been spicy for fast bowlers. England are prone to struggle with the bat when it is a not flat bed (e.g against Ireland and Sri Lanka)

The MCG is a fast pitch so that should suit Pakistan bowlers.I will go with 60/40 pakistan
