What's new

Who wins a 5-match T20I series between Pakistan and India right now?

The overrated team has lost yet again. No surprise, although this Australian batting line up is as bad as it can get.

Nobody rates India in T20's. Although a certain no.1 team did lose to an even weaker Saffer side not too long ago.

and we white washed a stronger Australia team.

Stronger?? Really?? That team did not have Cummins, Behrendorf , Richardson or Stoinis. They had Chris hack lynn , Ben useless McDermott and many TTFs like Agar and Mitchell Marsh.
This Australian team will beat your so called no.1 t20 team 7 out of 10 times anywhere.
Plus they're fresh off from playing the BBL. So all of them know how to win t20s .
And for god's sake, stop taking pride in these worthless t20is. It just resonates your minnow mentality.

you can only beat what's put out in front of you and we beat aus & nz, both by 3-0.

no they won't, we're the number 1 t20 side.

you just lost to them in your home conditions.

we were missing a few key players, wasn't our strongest XI... and despite that the first 2 were close games.

It is laughable to see gloating over T20 bilateral. Probably the least valuable format. It is way below T20 leagues. Who cares. We want under-19 team to play if possible. But these guys have to stay relevant with ad revenues etc.

I personally don't rate Pakistan much in T20's. They don't have the batting to be consistently good in the format. The return of Umar Akmal might change the team a little.

Maybe you also don't rate India so my message isn't directed to you, but I know some who rate them.
Ask most indians about the best opening pair they will say India; best batsman - Kohli; best all rounder - Hardik Pandya; best spinners - India; best fast bowler - Bumrah; best finisher - Dhoni; best upcoming batsmen - Pant.
Not many Indians will go against this.

May be you are right. But there are fans here who think that we can field 3 indian teams and still beat others quite easily. In reality we lost to a weak australian team and we are struggling to find 2 good middle order batsmen and 1 finisher.

You cannot rate any team in T20. Because most of the time teams just use T20 for combination experiment, introducing youngsters, ODI preparation etc. There is no set XI for any team at this point except may be some teams. They just randomly pick a team. Only in a world T20 they field their absolute best. With India even in world T20 they will pick the "marketable guys" over deserving guys.

I personally think Pakistan are the best T20 side in the world and the rankings clearly show that. No problem accepting that. I just don't understand how this Indian team is overrated when nobody really rates us in this format anyway. We played 3 wicketkeepers fgs

I don't think anyone truly believes that lol. Maybe these posters are just having a laugh. India are a better ODI and test side than they are a t20 side for sure.

Since the T20 was introduced India always uses bilateral T20 as a warm up for something or test out someone. Most of the teams do the same. So no one can predict what a full strength side can do. T20 is a game that will drastically reduce the gap between quality of teams. India will find it harder against Afghanistan than Pakistan in T20.

Maybe but I just don't rate our T20 side after that choke against Lanka in the final courtesy Yuvraj Singh.

If India plays full strength and does not rest from its best XI, they will easily win on most days - a Champions Trophy type anomaly will always happen, so 4-1.

I agree on that if we are talking about 50 over match, but 20 overs is a totally different ball game, something Pak team is really good at.

I was talking about T20 only - when was the last time you saw India play it's first choice XI - they don't take it seriously enough unless it's a World Cup.

Hence proved, no one can come anywhere near pakistan in t20 format. We are not only ranked number one but have gap of 12 rating points from rank 2 team (India). This is the highest gap in any format ( only 2 rating gap in ODIs and 9 rating gap in tests). Not only that but the rating of 135 is also way higher than any team in any format (number 1 team in ODI has 124 rating and number 1 team in test have only 116 rating). :hasan2

If IPL was not around, India would have taken T20 seriously and had a separate specialist team groomed to play that format (It was something similar when India won the first World T20! Perhaps Kohli would have sacrificed this format like Sachin concentrating fully on ODIs & Tests!) But now T20s are like practice matches and only Pakistan cares for the wins & records in this format! T20 is only a money minting format for Indian Cricketers, they take pride playing only in Tests & ODIs... (In fact Indian Cricketers including Kohli have taken Tests damn seriously!)

Pretty sure Pakistan would beat India in T20s.

A full-strength India would beat Pakistan to a pulp like always. In fact, even if they have their full team minus Kohli, they would still smash us like they did in the ODIs in the Asia Cup.

India will have to play their fringe squad for Pakistan to compete. I hope that India agrees to play Pakistan so that this drama of Pakistan of being the best T20 international team ends.

If it was a one off t20 like World Cup or something India would probably win cause of the pressure but in a t20 series Pakistan would steamroll India infact Pakistan would thrash most teams 4-0 or 4-1 it’s because the way we play t20 cricket and our team is more suited to the format than any other team India doesn’t stand a chance

Ohhh you sour man I would have probably quoted you in my last post but I guess you will be able to see it anyways India don’t stand a chance against us in bilateral t20s they couldn’t beat Australia at home with their full strength side and we beat Australia 3-0 so I don’t know what world your living in thank god pakistan hasn’t been playing for so long so I haven’t gotten see your traitor posts around for some time

Nobody cares. T20 bilaterals are probably the most Mickey Mouse, useless form of cricket.

Buddy theres a ICC trophy to be taken in that format lol India cares a lot look at their schedule they are playing atleast three t20s in every series even against Bangladesh. That’s all ** that no one cares about t20s bilateral Odis don’t really matter either if you look at it like that if you do trash at in the World Cup

Transitivity doesn’t work in cricket. If A beats B and B beats C, it doesn’t mean that A will beat C. Different teams have different strengths.

It is easier for Pakistan to beat Australia than to beat India.

Pakistan’s success in T20 cricket in the last three years has been mainly down to its spin bowling, especially Imad in the PP overs. He bowls 4 economical overs game after game and that puts opposition on the back-foot.

However, Pakistan’s strength is completely nullified by India’s batting. Imad is a joke for batsmen like Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli who can tame him with their eyes closed.

He will regularly go for 30+ in his 4 overs against India. Unlike other teams, the Indian top-order doesn’t make the mistake of playing him across the line.

Meanwhile, Shadab is also a joke for India. They are used to facing far better spinners.

Furthermore, Pakistan’s batting is not explosive enough to consistently score above par against the likes of Bumrah, Shami, Bhuvneshwar, Kuldeep etc.

I live in a world where India is miles ahead of Pakistan in all three formats. If that makes me a traitor so be it. I would rather be a traitor than be utterly deluded.

Look at how teams handle t20s, mostly they put in new players to try them out in international stage. Only Pakistan (foolishly) puts a full strength team out instead of trying new players out. Thankfully I with Misbah as coach that will change- he won't care about t20 bilaterals. Also, try to fix your spelling and grammar, it was hard to read that.

This has been quite a funny and good humoured thread for the most part. I think it may be tight, but advantage India because we have been bottling it against them for a while now.

Completely agreed. I am hopeful though with new FC structure and Misbah as coach we can be competitive in Tests at the very least. But it'll be hard to go near India's level.

Seeing as the next T20 WC is in Aus, advantage India. Pakistan batsmen are really poor against bounce. Hafeez was the only moderately good batsman against short pitched stuff.

Denial won’t help us. We need to make peace with the fact India is a vastly superior team across all formats. However, this doesn’t mean that Pakistan doesn’t have the resources to close the gap.

We need a lot of work in terms of cricket culture, mentality, fitness, attitude etc., but it is not impossible. At the end of the day, we have the second largest talent pool in the game and we need to use it to our advantage like India has in the last two decades.

If we keep pretending that we are better than them at XYZ just to make ourselves feel better, we won’t be able to develop.

Pakistan hass no match in all formats,,,Sarfaraz being our t20 and ODI captain shows i.Let them be in denial till we meet India in WC.

A combined Test, ODI and T20 XI of Pakistan India would illustrate the massive gulf between the two sides. There is no comparison at all.

Only two or three of our players will make it in to playing eleven. This is what i have. started, mean to hate our cricket fans .They are not accepting their team failures.

Pakistan is a very good T20 team. One of the best but so are we. I would expect it to be a tight contest which could go either way.

India has the most vulnerable middle order in world cricket. It's deeply concerning

You need one batsman to fire and mostly Indian top 3 fires, means in 90 percent of the cases. They fire and India win,we will lose it by 3-2 at best.

It’s not about being deluded we’ve been the best t20 side ever since this format started and that’s a fact. We play well in the t20 world cups or be it bilaterals. India have lost against newzeland Australia and tied with South Africa. Of course they are better than us in Odis and tests there is no competition but t20 is a different ball game they can barely make 140 as you saw today against a very very ordinary South African bowling attack. On top of that their batting is not even suited for t20 cricket they literally have accumulators and touch players loaded in the top order and a couple of hacks down the lower order. Their new bowling attack is not even worth mentioning and even your amazing kuldeep who you rate so highly he’s having a hard time finding a spot in the indian Xi. I get it you hate Pakistan but give credit where it’s due Pakistan is the best t20 side in the world and everyone in the world agrees expect for you.

Pakistan players are poor they need money hence they play all formats. You can’t say t20 cricket doesn’t matter so just keep trying new players if you keep doing that than there will never be a settled xi. My grammar is good enough for you to understand bro I’m getting my point across that’s all that matters.

I agree India has a better ODI and Test team, however the gulf between the two sides in T20 is very marginal.

We have the best T20 batsman and the most economical T20 bowler since a while.

I believe if Pakistan wants to win against India in T20s, a lot will depend on how Babar, Amir and Imad will fare under pressure.

Anyways, I hope to see a competitive India vs Pakistan match next year, which hasn’t been the case since the last decade.

No it is about delusion because any objective person with a decent grasp of the game can see that India is far ahead in T20s as well. Also, Pakistan has not been the best T20 side since its inception. We were the best in its formative years but we were rubbish in the first half of this decade. We have had a good run since 2016 but we have had plenty of soft games against under-strength teams and didn’t test ourselves against India.

India’s main new ball bowler Bumrah wipes the floor with every pacer in Pakistan. He is streets ahead and we have no answer to him. They have also far superior superior spinners and their top three is better than any top three we have produced in our history, both collectively and player to player.

A full-strength India would beat a full-strength Pakistan 8/10 times.

Babar is the best T20 batsman per rankings but in reality, he is comfortably inferior to Kohli and Rohit, two of the best Limited Overs batsmen of their generation. Unless players play the same number of matches in the same conditions against the same opposition, you cannot really use rankings as a measure.

For example, if Kohli, Rohit and Babar play together against the same team in the same conditions, there is no doubt that they will outshine him. They can do everything Babar can plus they have an extra gear that Babar doesn’t have. He is our best batsman by miles and a genuine world class player but we are comparing him to two batsmen who are better than anyone we have ever produced in Limited Overs cricket.

Amir is the only proper threat for India, but let’s face it - Bumrah is miles better than him in every way. Imad is a complete non-factor against India. He is barely worth a part-timer against them.

Anyway, let’s hope that we can at least compete next year in the World T20. A platform where Pakistan vs India T20 matches have been painfully one-sided except the first edition in 2007.

India's loss for wasting a golden opportunity to comfortably better the overall Win/Loss record.

Lol man you can ride that Indian band wagon all you want fact is Pakistan are number one and have been number one for quite some time. I don’t know which low strength teams you are talking about because Pakistan has beaten full strength england , Australia, newzeland , and every other teams they have basically played against. Only because Pakistan doesn’t play one team that doesn’t mean there ranking is fake. That is quite pathetic that is like saying Khabib is not the best in the lightweight division because he’s yet to fight tony Ferguson. India is a very ordinary t20 side and they have been beaten quite a many times by the same oppositions Pakistan has thrashed at home and India have lost to. Now coming to your A beats B doesn’t work like that of course it does if Pakistan is beating the same squad newzeland and Australia in fact white washing them why is a full strength Indian side getting white washed by those same oppositions at home. Look I get it you hate Pakistan but facts are facts Pakistan is the best t20i side in the world and India are not even close, rankings were not made just for fun so accept the fact and move on sour old man.

You are right my friend but we are going through a patch where the top 3 also aren't playing match winning knocks hence all the trouble. Pakistan collectively is a more balanced T20 team

Can’t beat a depleted SL side, but somehow, we will beat India.

They will smash us like no tomorrow today, tomorrow, yesterday, last year and the year before.

We simply cannot come to terms with the fact that they are miles, miles ahead of us in all formats.

thats a bit of exaggeration even by your standards

The thing is t20 is such an unpredictable format you never can be sure which team will win

I don't rate our T20 side highly but that's a poor comment.

India also got smashed by a poor South African side a werk ago.

Where was this energy when we were wrecking every team in t20s lol one bad and loss and you come running into this to spew ur hatred don’t get excited we’re gonna win the next two t20s with ease.

The thing is the skill level difference. Apart from Babar and Amir, all other players are club level players. So yes India will beat us everyday. Our bowling rather bowlers are brainless. In the recent T20 series, India didn't have their best bowlers.

India also got smashed by a poor South African side a werk ago.

India is ranked#4 and drew T20 series against a higher ranked (#2) SA . Pakistan ranked #1 is playing a C-team of much lower ranked #8 SL.

Both series are not comparable.

India will beat us.

Shadab as a frontline spinner LOL.
Shehzad and Fakhar as openers
Asif Ali and Umar Akmal as middle order batters.
No decent T20 bowlers other than Amir if we are really being honest.

We maybe number 1 in the rankings, but other Babar ( even he is not a certainty) not many of our players would get in a world 11 in T20s.

The delusion remains as strong as ever. Well I guess people have the right to make themselves feel better.

Only Babar and Aamir can make it into Indian T20 side.

I agree. Over a 5 match series, Rohit and a Kohli alone would win 2 matches each. It will probably take a Champions Trophy style meltdown for Pakistan to win a one-off match.

For those who try to justify their delusions by playing the “T20 in unpredictable” card:

Pakistan and India have played 8 T20s so far, and Pakistan have only won 1. There is nothing unpredictable about our humiliation. It simply illustrates how superior they have been in this decade.

We must thank the Indian Government for not giving BCCI clearance to play us. They have saved us a lot of pain and embarrassment.

Pakistan won 26 out of last 32 T20s. 11 series out of 13. 1 defeat because of Misbahs stupid selections now we are deluded and not good.

Mamoon needs to get a grip always waiting for Pakistan to lose a game or series.
When Pakistan were winning 11 series in a row he was all quite calling it lucky and fluke and we not best rankings don't do justice. You tell me how can 11 series in a row win be a fluke.
You are one deluded and hater of Pakistan. Just another Adnan Sami and Tarak Fatah who are most likely your role models.

Don't want to sound rude but fair criticism I can accept even though I don't agree but your heart is full of hate for Pakistan clearly which I don't know why.

It will be 5-0 to India however i am concerned about climate change and the unpredictable weather these days. So atleast one of those matches could be washed out.

Well with this playing XI for Pakistan, India would win 5-0.

Shehzad, Umar akmal, sarfraz inspire no confidence.

But 2-3 changes makes Pakistan a strong team again that could probably compete very well. The core group of Babar, Haris, Amir, Imad, Shaheen are a good start.

Definitely need to try a different spinner, as Shadab has been found out.

As Mamoon has pointed out, the main reason for Pakistan's success in T20I is the new ball bowling of Imad and Shadab being effective in the middle overs. But against India, they'll struggle big time. And I don't think Pakistan can win based only on their batting as they lack power hitters. I expect a 4-1 win for India if we play with our full strength team.

Wow, you must be so proud of India for hypothetically beating Pakistan.

Thankfully the Asia Cup happened, otherwise we would still be hearing the nonsense we heard in 2017-2018, that this new age Pakistani team does not fear India and the Champions Trophy was the new “Miandad six” and the momentum has shifted.

But then we saw in the Asia Cup, in Pakistan’s adopted home, how vastly superior India were even without Kohli. It was much a needed reality check for the people who were laboring under the delusion that the Champions Trophy wasn’t a one-off result.

Its hard to care about the t20 format. Its the odis and tests that matter much more. In t20s there is very little scope for the showcasing of skills in the true sense of the term. Its not really cricket as much as it is a commercial money making advertisement exercise.

That being said I think it would go somewhat like this
T20#1: India wins the toss, Rohit bats Pak out of the match by scoring a hundred
T20#2: India loses the toss, pak put 165 on the board, Kohli chases it down like the pro he is. India win by 8 wickets.
T20#3: India wins the toss, and puts an above par 175 on the board. Pak starts of well, but then jadejas brilliance leads to a couple of runouts and Sarfaraz drops the ball. Pak lose by 20 odd runs.
INDIA has taken the series.
T20# 4: Pak us hurt and responds with venom. They win the toss and bat well scoring well above par. Around 185. India start poorly and the middle order cant cope with run rate climbing steeply. India lose by 25 odd runs.
T20# 5: India shrug off the complacence and do a proper demolition job on pakistan. Pak wins the toss and bats. Bumrah rips out the spine of pak batting. Pak struggle their way to 115 which is then chased down with impetuosity by Sharma in 12 overs.

India takes series 4-1

But then we saw in the Asia Cup, in Pakistan’s adopted home, how vastly superior India were even without Kohli. It was much a needed reality check for the people who were laboring under the delusion that the Champions Trophy wasn’t a one-off result.

No Pakistani fans were making such tall claims so stop over exaggerating. Looks like that champions trophy final defeat still hurts and haunts so get over it and you the only one on here that still brings the champions trophy final up in every post. I know you can't get over it and it hurt you alot but move on now. And same thing fans can say the Asia Cup was a one off.
Get over with your hate for Pakistan

Mohammed Amir is the only Pakkstani bowler who has troubled India in recent LOIs with the new ball. The spinners Shadab and Imad are totally a liability against India.. If Amir fires first up then Pakistan are right in the game otherwise an easy win for India.
Mamoon this has been the script for like last 15 years or so. Either a dramatic opening spell from Pakistani swing bowlers. If not India cruises to win with ease.

Although I kinda agree with you, I just want to point out that asia wasn't one off since we got annihilated twice not once, and champions trophy was one off because we annihilated india once in the finals while we also got annihilated by india in the group game.

I agree. Shadab and Imad are club level spinners for the Indian batsmen, and the only opening for Pakistan is to get their top-order cheaply. They might do it once in 5 games, but India will pound them on other occasions. The skill gap between the two sides is humongous.

I think I was very, very delusional to state that we might win 1 in 5 matches.

You should thank Misbah for making you bumping threads and you can boast.

Absolute pathetic team selection. Misbah thanks for this embarrassment
