Who would win (hypothetically) in a Karachi vs Lahore cricket match?

A few days ago, I was going through random scorecards from some recently concluded Pakistani first class tournaments. My initial purpose was to find some data points that I wanted to compare with existing players in the team and how they would fare if given the same opportunity however, what caught my eye was the sorry state of product that our regions are producing currently and the unequal distribution of a core bunch of individuals among teams that have no relevance to the fan base of that specific region.

To help muster things into perspective I though why not develop a fantasy draft for a playing XI from two of the biggest regions in Pakistan i.e. Karachi and Lahore and see to the fact of, which team (based solely on players from their region) would be better equipped to overhaul the other in a proper 4 day FC match or a series of matches.

The Filters for Selection (very very important - Please refer to this !!)

1) Players representing for the Region XI cannot be test capped, I understand that Usman Salahuddin would most probably debut in the 3rd test against the West Indies but at the moment of this thread he is still uncapped so I have included him in the Lahore team.

2) Players representing this region XI should be born in either Karachi / Lahore. This is the probably the most strictest filter I've used here. I have even ignored players from Hyderabad or Interior Sindh for Karachi and places like Faisalabad / Vehari etc etc for Lahore. Players should be born in Karachi / Lahore

3) Player should have represented or is representing the region at some point in time of his career.

So what do you guys think, which team amongst the two would be able to overhaul the other one in a proper FC game of a series of games (something like a tournament between the two) ?? Also if you have any existing player from the region that I have missed who fits the filter provided, please update the thread.

Furthermore an interesting aspect for such a conceptual match would be that in most cases the fans from either side would have much more relevance to associate themselves with the brand and players being offered rather than rooting for WAPDA or SGNPL or any other Patron for that matter. If we work on such a model and saturate a region with the best talents we could seriously create a massive fan following and some form of relevance in our domestic structures.

Tabish will most probably be a swap for either of the two pace bowlers playing i.e. Raees or Miru and quite frankly I don't necessarily see him replacing either of the two. Plus Raees and Hamza both are significantly younger than Tabish who would be a step backward in any such scenario....

Shahzaib (the leggie), I am not too sure how many FC games he's played but if he can play as the front line spinner then I guess it's a direct swap with Azam Hussain.

Honestly speaking this Karachi lineup is pretty weak (as compared to our historically the teams we've had in QeA). Just goes on to show how bad region cricket has become but the worst part is that 9 times out of 10 this particular team would give an absolute hiding to Lahore based on the lineup from their region.

Just shows how grossly mismanaged this whole affair is when two of the biggest regions in Pakistan domestics have an uncapped team which quietly honestly get their behinds handed to them from Australian or English club sides.

That is true, however (and I fail to identify the reason here) - Why in the heck do we always choke during domestic T20s ?? I mean will reach the finals in all glory only for the entire freaking squad to loose their marbles right when it matters

that sort of got fixed last year but now there are no dolphins etc and there were some non-karachi players due to draft

I'm all for Karachi's superiority over our smaller brothers but these sort of things just lead to unwanted rivalry and differences between the people. We all know Karachi is better in all aspects, lets not make thread after thread about it to anger our Lahori brothers.

Imran Khan thinks this is the future, and would improve the competitiveness. I agree. Pakistani cricket needs some on field needle

In test cricket bowling is even more important .

Im sticking to the all time theme because currently ill take anyone from karachi over the likes of selfish clowns like kamran and shehzad.

lol you cant just change thread topic like that as OP is specifically abt current. Im sure theres many threads on all time team XI but they always seem to be Punjab vs Karachi. In that case Punjab wins easily but then again it makes no sense to compare a province of 100 million people with a city

I think Lahore has more than decent batting line up while they still have Legendary bowlers to take twenty wickets in a match. In my opinion, Karachi cant field a decent bowling Attack.
Even in the list of Recent players Lahore has much better bowling attack

Regional rivalry will undoubtedly Place better automatic filters to judge caliber of players as a lot of egos will be involved if a region loses to other and the next time they will actually try better players for the face off.

Only Azhar is worthy of being in a test team at the moment. Sami Aslam is a glorified nightwatchman and Babar hasn't exactly painted himself with glory in the test arena.
