Why are Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja not strong ODI bowlers?

Both are terrific test bowlers and decent t20 bowlers but their ODI numbers tells the different story.
Despite being a frontline bowler, Jadeja's ODI bowling average is 37 which is no poor than any part timer.
Ashwin, despite having Mendis like varieties, has an bowling average of 33 with not a single fifer.
Both Ashwin and Jadeja's economy rates are close to 5 and strike rates in 40s.

What are reason behind their mediocrity in ODIs??

That's somehow true. Previous Indian spinners like Kumble and Harbhajan played both formats of the game, whereas Ashwin and Jadeja have sorta become Test Specialist's. Not talking about T20.

its difficult for spinners in ODIs these days

Adil Rashid also averages 33 as does Shamsi.

Santner,Sodhi,Hasaranga,Zampa,Shadab etc all have similar numbers

Only Rashid Khan is exception.

Lol at terrific test bowlers. Ashwin was the reason India lost in South Africa twice(2014 and 2021).

Jadeja is a good support spinner and a proper all rounder though.

Lol yeah, Ashwin is the reason batsman not scoring runs :14:..

They are not bad in OD , Jadeja is a Must in Indian XI , he adds very good balance , Ashwin probably would not get into OD again.

lol How many wickets SA took with their spinners? 1, 2? In that series you didn't need spinners at all.

Ashwin was good in T20 for some time. His record is not that terrible. Just that leg spinners have taken over Finger spinners are easy to target.
