Why can’t a top cricketing nation play two series simultaneously?

Considering the amount of talent some of the countries have on display, most can easily land 2/3 elevens and still be competitive.

I was thinking wouldn't it be amazing if Pakistan was playing a series in NZ and Bangladesh at the same time. So I tune in on a Sunday and I see Sarfaraz screaming in a NZ test match and next day I see Rizwan scoring a ODI hundred against Bangla.

Or you could take the same example and imagine Dhoni and Pant representing India in two different series against two different teams.

Same of the nations (for example Bangladesh, Zimbabwe & Afghanistan) do not get enough international exposure and I feel something needs to be done about it.

That would be like A team vs a team and b team vs b team. Why would anyone watch b team vs b team?

Lol pakistan Main team could not beat Indian C team in the Asia cup. You speak as if Pakistan has talent on the sidelines. We barely can make an eleven. Let alone multiple teams.

Do you wanna see us lose in Monday and Tuesday?

Well, money, sponsorship and viewership comes to mind on why this doesn't happen. You can't have your premier team battle it out with another premier team and then have your A and B play another A and B and expect to rack up views/money. Financially makes absolutely no sense.

This actually did happen in cricket history. In 1930s, England sent 2 teams to couple of new entrants- WIN & NZ. They played Test in similar time. In recent times, 1994 (or 1998) WSC was contested between Poms, Australia A & Australia B - no wonder both Aussie teams made the final but later ICC decided not to award those games against Australia B ODI status.

It’ll be quite boring series though - PAK’s full team lost 0-3 & 0-5 in last BD/NZ ODI tours respectively and can’t say that the margins were respectable either.

Not viable

1. Can't split viewership. People will only watch the best Pak side.
2. Not enough quality in the B or C ranks.

Horrible idea. That's why their are A and B teams in place.
I would want to see more Tri-Series

It happened when Indian team was split-up in 1998. One team team played in Sahara Cup (Canbada) which included most senior players . Other team played in Commonwealth Games which included Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and VVS Laxman.
Result proved how bad the decision to split the team was. India failed to win medal in Commonwealth Games and lost ODI series 4-1 to Pakistan.

I can remember in 2017 , Australia played a T20 against Sri Lanka and the next day India played Australia in a test match. The Australian sites I was reading found it very strange.

There was a Benson and Hedges tri series in Australia some time in the 1990s and both Australia and Australia A competed. The A team reached the final ! They had crazy strength in depth back then.

In contemporary world, may be only team that can send 2 computable ODI XI is again Australia. India & England has the batting resources but not sure about the bowling.

If I make 2 teams from Australia with every one available, these are probably their 2 XI

AUS A
1. Warner
2. *Finch
3. Khwaja
4. Smith
5. Maxwell
6. Stoinis
7. Carey+
8. Strac
9. Cummins
10. Jhye R
11. Zampa

AUS B
1. Lynn
2. Short
3. Travis Head
4. *S Marsh
5. Handscomb+
6. Turner
7. Mitch/Ashton Agger
8. J Behrendorff
9. Tye/NCL
10. Lyon
11. Josh Hazlewood

Their B team is damn good for their home.

In Test India definitely can put a B side that’ll compete with every team at home.

8. Faheem Ashraf
9. Hasan Ali
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. Junaid Khan
12. Muhammad Nawaz
13. Muhammad Hasnain
14. Sohail Tanvir
15. Asif Ali

Pak B
1. Sharjeel Khan

And who is going to broadcast matches with one team essentially being the "A" team?

what would be the point of that? what will it accomplish? who has 18 hours a day to watch cricket?

Any country can put 2-3 squads, but the issue is the quality of the squads. India actually can make 4 squads because of the large player pool. I don’t think splitting PAK’s ODI squad into two can keep either of the squads decent - equally matched indeed, but not good.
