Here is Mohammad Amir's record since the World T20:

Pakistan has lost 6 matches since T20 WC in Total and only 1 when Amir has played, that too when Pakistan gave a target of 100 to NZ in NZ. Lost 5 without him.

His figures:

Avg 15.72
Eco 6.28
SR 15.0

His Career figures:

Avg 19.8
Eco 6.8

He was Man of the Series in NZ and averages 4 in Pakistan. We lost to Australia in Tri series first match but won both when he played.

His counterparts Hasan and Shinwari are terrible bowlers in T20s, Amir is our best death overs bowler.

Why wasn't he played that we have lost our first series and our consecutive streak of winning series?

Again a very sensible post from you.

Becoming a fan.

Amir could've been the game changer here. No matter how much people hate him, he's still our best bowler.

Will never get carted like Shinwari or Hasan.

And could've restricted SA to manageable targets.

Past performance may not be the best indicator for the future when his current form is so bad.

A fit Amir wil always be a starter for me in any format - he may occasionally need a talking to but he needs to partner shaheen shah!!

Surprising to see him benched. Economical bowling is a great asset in T20 cricket. He would have made an impact in this series for sure.

Truth is, he is not just economical but a wicket taker in T20Is according to stats.

What is Amir, Shaheen,Shadab and Hassan doing in our T20 squad anyways ? Is SA playing Steyn, Rabada and Tahir ?
We have plenty of domestic bowlers who could have been tried in these T20s while our main bowlers could have some rest. Just look at the schedule leading up to the world cup.

No yaar, that would be blasphemous for Shinwari....

There is no comparison Shinwari > Amir

He does well in T20s, he even cranks up the speeds. But honestly what's the point if he's not doing the job in ODIs or tests. Don't really want a T20 specialist.

because Shaheen, Hassan, Shinwari, and even Faheem have done better than Amir in T20's over the past year

Please check the stats before saying something. Amir has been better last year, last 2 years and whole career wise, He was MOS in NZ.

Cost effective. SA does that because they r the home team.

Shinwari needs to be dropped. If you want to have a back up bowler , try someone else in the next series.

Amir is a good fit for T-20. He can be rested in test and ODI to allow him to bowl well in T-20. Doing other way around is not the way to go.

Who was the highest wicket taker in the Test series for Pakistan and bowled better than the Great Steyn?

He didn't need rest, he should have played all games.

He should be rested otherwise he will be bowling at slower speed due to lack of stamina.

You are giving an impression that Amir bowled really well in test series. That's not true. He has around 4-5 wickets for top 1-6 wickets out of 6 innings. Not bad, but nothing special. His defensive bowling will help his team a lot more in T-20 than in test format. He has given some statement in support of shorter formats over test as well.

To be fair, with the exception of Hasan in ODI, this is their level. We need better players in the other formats.

He needs to get his pace back first or it's over for him,no point playing a t20 specialist.

Oh my word, on one thread you guys complain Pakistan play their regulars in T20Is, and when we don't play our regulars you complain saying why didn't we play the regulars.

UKS 4 wickets cost him his spot.He is far better than UKS and should play WC as he is our trumpcard

Most PPers don’t realize nobody plays tier 1 players in T20I, Pakistan has won all those series because others are experimenting where as Pakistan always play full strength (almost test lineup ) in T20I. This fake ranking is of no use. T20 is place to try young talent. All those top FC players should be tried in T20, give them exposure to international cricket.

Even than Pakistan struggles every now and than.

Every country uses T20 to try their new talents and rest good bowlers but Pak fans want their main bowlers to tire out in meaningless T20s.

Also why what metric is amir the best bowler? In ODIs he is definitely not, in tests he is the only regular one for a long time yet gets outshined by a youngster like Afridi

Amir is too big and too proud to play on good batting tracks. He thinks it's for lesser ones to toil hard on difficult tracks, he would like to bowl only on seaming tracks.

What did I tell?

Amir finishes with 4-0-27-3 and Pakistan wins yet again when he plays, Shinwari conceded 29 in one over alone and has costed us this series as well our winning streak.

I doubt Amir would have given as many runs as Shinwari did on Sunday, at the max he would have conceded 40 from his 4 overs. No doubt that UKS's over cost us the series, but UKS done good in game 1 so he wasn't going to be dropped. I don't think Shaheen played the first game either, think we were just rotating everyone around, maybe we got complacement and thought we were going to win this series easily.

I guess we just wanted to try all combinations, but he was our best bowler in the 1st T20I. Anyway, things like these are all easy to say in hindsight, but conceding 29 run overs is just pathetic. I'm sure even if Asif Ali bowled that over he wouldn't have gone for 29 runs and ultimately that's where the game was lost as SA looked like getting 170 max which wouldn't have been enough

Someone's pocket should be hurt for this. It's perfectly OK to drop him for entire series allow resting before PSL, but keeping in squad and not playing (when he was fit, otherwise won't have played the 3rd one) is blasphemous - someone should be punished and just shaming isn't going to work.

I hope Wasim Khan forces tour management to submit tour report and explain why PAK player of Test series wasn't given any effective T20 and why was benched in 1st 2 ODIs. His T20 stats are absolutely perfect and he was the MoS in last win in NZ a year back. Few people have been too powerful in team management and they need dummy Captains like Malik r Sarfraz to keep their control over PCT affairs.

Since his return in 2016, he has looked the most at home in T20i cricket rather than ODI's and Tests.

In Tests, he has looked threatening in patches and most of that outside of Asia. In T20i, I think he has been brilliant everywhere. I can see his road of ODI cricket narrowing with every passing day though.
